Priest in Britain Advises Congregation to Shoplift

As for the comment.....this coming from someone whose fellow priests think it's okay to molest children, I'm not remotely surprised.

He's Episcopalian, not Catholic.

This is a little misleading because the Priest didn't advise/encourage the congregation to shoplift.
His point was that our society has put people in a situation where they have to commit crimes to survive. That being the case, shoplifting is better than armed Robbery or Residential Burglary.

The Priest was really drawing attention to the immorality that exists in our economic system today in which the rich exploit the working class and the economic disparity has made it difficult for many of the poor to survive...and least legally.

You could have sensibly stopped at either of the first two statements, but ignorance of the reality didn't prevent the parochial partisanity. The last statement (as edited) is accurate.

What part of you can't give what you don't have is beyond your understanding. Talk about ignorant.

Charitable giving in the United States fell by 2 percent in 2008 the largest year-over-year drop and only the second decline since the Giving USA Foundation began tracking American philanthropy 53 years ago.

Individual donations dropped by about 2.7 percent from 2007 to last year, corporate giving fell by about 4.5 percent and foundation contributions grew by about 3 percent, according to the report.

This year in this country more people are giving but the decline in total dollars is still in decline.

What I said was spot on there is no excuse for people in Nations with potential to have people going hungry. I did fail to mention that too much immigration legal and otherwise contributes to the problem of hunger in the U.K. and in the amount of money spent here to feed the hungry.

This is most likely an Anglican priest, it being in England.

I don't condone stealing. However there are times when it is necessary. And those times are only when you have exhausted all other forms of help that can be provided. Be it through a church, chairty, shelter, or government.
