China is attempting to scupper chances of a comprehenive agreement at the Copenhagen climate summit by using delaying tactics, sources inside the negotiations have told The Independent.

At an emergency meeting convened at the Bella Center this morning, Barack Obama and Gordon Brown assembled 26 heads of state in an attempt to revive a deal. But China's Premier Wen Jiabao did not attend and was replaced by vice foreign minister He Yafei. This afternoon, the US president and his secretary of state Hillary Clinton called another meeting with China, but were snubbed again when only three low-level Chinese delegates arrived.

Because Obama is representing us as the President, I don't appreciate what the Chinese are doing. But on a personal note, with regards to Obama as an individual, I almost side with the Chinese. Because I think that whole conference is a farce and not in the best interests of the US.

The Chinese aren't in opposition to the agreement because they think it's a face. They opposite because this agreement is bad for their business just like you think it is bad for our business. If you thought measures for stopping climate change wouldn't affect business would you still oppose it? At the end of the day it is a matter of people who care about business vs. those who don't.
 
I wonder if the Chinese are learning this from the GOP or if the GOP are learning this from the Chinese.
 
The Chinese have even more to lose than we do, since they have most of our old manufacturing jobs.

I agree that the summit is a farce... not because global warming isn't real, but because the biggest contributors to it are going to do everything they can to avoid change. Mainly, the U.S. and China. The rest of the world should consider sanctioning both countries until they get a reality check; I think such a stance would work given the recession.

Our economies enemy is the idiotic climate (expletive deleted).

Obama has lied his ass off every step of the way on health care being the end of the world if it's not passed right away and it doesn't even go into effect until when? After the next presidential election. Everything he said was a lie and it will help kill the economy.

A climate agreement would have and even worse effect on the economy because it would raise the price of everything more then the economy can take.

Thank God any treaty requires a 2/3 for in favor in the Senate.

I'm not going to respond o the other 99% of your post because its all nonsense, but this I need to.

As Obama has said 10 times, it isn't a legally binding agreement, but an agreement that we will set emissions cuts, and global warming initiatives. It isn't a treaty, and it wont be a treaty.

Or is Obama lying about that too?

According to Liberals this tread needs to be moved because it's about the environment and has no place here.

They especially need to to move it because it makes Obama look like the fool he is and sure don't want that out.

The Chinese are doing us a favor if they can scuttle this farce being forced on the west by the likes Socialist/Communists like Obama.

In general I have no use for the Red Chinese murderers but if they stop this BULL SHIITE, they will be doing our economy a huge favor.

Sorry to say this but there seems to be no one will the guts to stand up to Obama and tell the truth about his goals to destroy this Nation from within.

What proof do I have you ask? You are kidding right. Look at what he's done, and just use the phony CASH FOR CLUNKERS BS as an example. They set up a program Obama and his minions claimed was to stimulate car sales then they don't restrict the program to American made cars and it's a bid boost to Toyota. They give up to $4,000 on trade ins for cars with years of life left on them, and claim they are ging to save all kinds in fuel savings, and the facts say the savings is nearly nothing. People go into debt buying import cars they don't need and it costs $24,000 per car to save exactly ZERO.

I say thank you to the Chinese on this one issue.
