Secret document exposes Iran’s nuclear trigger

Confidential intelligence documents obtained by The Times show that Iran is working on testing a key final component of a nuclear bomb.
The notes, from Iran’s most sensitive military nuclear project, describe a four-year plan to test a neutron initiator, the component of a nuclear bomb that triggers an explosion. Foreign intelligence agencies date them to early 2007, four years after Iran was thought to have suspended its weapons programme.
An Asian intelligence source last week confirmed to The Times that his country also believed that weapons work was being carried out as recently as 2007 — specifically, work on a neutron initiator.
The technical document describes the use of a neutron source, uranium deuteride, which independent experts confirm has no possible civilian or military use other than in a nuclear weapon. Uranium deuteride is the material used in Pakistan’s bomb, from where Iran obtained its blueprint.

I am an Iranian, a practicing Muslim woman, who sees it as her responsibility to stand up to hard core Muslims who use Islam to brainwash children of that faith, in particular the Iranian children, who the Iranian government is turning into ticking bombs.

After all I have gone through, some in the audience might ask, why do I put myself in danger again? I made it out alive. I have a successful life outside Iran. Why would I want to be here?

My answer is best summed up by the Edmond Burke quotation, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing."

I teach people that if they have something to say, it shouldn't be just a desire but a human duty and responsibility to help others. If we can change the text books, if we can teach the children of Iran and the Middle East that hate is not inherited; it is taught. If they can understand that children everywhere are innocent and if they can learn, as I often say, that "Governments do and People pay", we will save generations of our human family from the hard core fundamentalists who are turning them into human bombs.

While Israel gives rights to all of its citizens, the reason why Israeli Arabs do not rule Israel is mainly because they make only 1/5th of the population.

ok, just so long as we are all cognizant that low percentage of the arab population is due to israel's intended practice of refusing citizenship to non-jews

No, the high percentage of Arab citizens in Israel is mainly due to Israel's acceptance of them as citizens at the end of its independence war.

Justabubba, I do not think that by now it is possible to deny and/or hide Iran's true wishes.
The chance to deny this piece of reality has long been gone, perhaps after the 100th threat made by the Iranian president against the western world and against Israel in private.

You are also aware, I am sure, that Ahmedinejad has never denied his intentions, so I am very confused as to why would you choose to do so instead of him.
 
Back on topic,

According to the article: "The documents have been seen by intelligence agencies from several Western countries, including Britain. A senior source at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that they had been passed to the UN’s nuclear watchdog."

That's good. So this will be handled by the United Nations which will determine whether Iran was acting against international law and in breach of the treaties it signed.

In order for diplomacy to succeed you need the UN to enforce its own resolutions. That way everyone wins, justabubba. Iran can get safe peaceful nuclear power and enjoy all the benefits. Nobody is saying they can't have nuclear power. They just can't have nuclear weapons, that's all.

apdst's snarky point was that iran is not a peaceful nation, and therefor should not be trusted to possess nuclear weapons

i compared and contrasted that with a nuclear power in that region which has a history of violating sovereign boundaries in the conduct of wars - wars it initiates - to demonstrate the hypocrisy of tolerating israel's ownership of nuclear devices while simultaneously condemning iran's pursuit for military parity. the hypocrisy is heightened, when one also recognizes that it is israel, which is pushing for military intervention to suppress the iranian achievement of nuclear weaponry

Einstein advissed us to make things as simple as possible, but not simpler. that is as simple as i can explain it to you. given the educational disadvantage you have acquired by residening in sc, if you need its simpler, you must appeal to a reich wing conservative for an answer you will then find acceptable (and erroneous)
