President Obama's job approval rating has fallen to 47 percent in the latest Gallup poll, the lowest ever recorded for any president at this point in his term.

Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford and even Richard Nixon all had higher approval ratings 10-and-a-half months into their presidencies. Obama's immediate predecessor, President George W. Bush, had an approval rating of 86 percent, or 39 points higher than Obama at this stage. Bush's support came shortly after he launched the war in Afghanistan in response to the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

...

When Gallup began taking presidential approval polls 71 years ago, Franklin Roosevelt had been president for more than five years. During his remaining time in office, his job approval rating never fell below 48 percent.

The next 11 presidents, both Democrats and Republicans, all had higher job approval ratings than Obama at this stage of their tenure. Their ratings were:

-- George W. Bush, 86 percent
-- Bill Clinton, 52 percent
-- George H.W. Bush, 71 percent
-- Ronald Reagan, 49 percent
-- Jimmy Carter, 57 percent
-- Gerald Ford, 52 percent
-- Richard Nixon, 59 percent
-- Lyndon Johnson, 74 percent
-- John Kennedy, 77 percent
-- Dwight Eisenhower, 69 percent
-- Harry Truman, 49 percent

I used to think Obama was destined for two terms but I see now there is a strong possibility he will be a one term president. I sure the hell hope so.

That would be great, and I expect it, but the far more important task is 2010.

Take the House and Senate as with Clinton, and let him flap in the wind. Unlike Clinton who just kicked back and took credit, it'll drive Obama and his Chicago enterage insane.

Obama inherited a lot of ****, and the republicans like to blame him for stuff that wasn't his fault.

Cool ..I like it when Presidents have low ratings

He inherited a lot of ****, and he's spent the last year ****ing it far worse.

He inheritied the worst part of it from his own - Dodd, Frank, Pelosi, Reid, etc.

Yeah, that should be reserved only for demo's to do to a repub president.

Seriously, how long will you liberals use this "inherited" crap to excuse poor governance?

If he spent less time catering to special interests and more time trying to create jobs and grow the economy, he wouldn't be in this mess.

It doesn't matter how many terms he serves. The next guy will be just as bad.

Yes he did inherit **** and he's making the **** bigger. You know why?? Because he is trying to appease everyone. You can get away with that only for so long.

With his latest, disgusting troop surge, (which will not help his little approval rating one bit), even some, not all, of the Obama die-hards are regretting supporting him, and they admit it.

It is not all just left and right, a lot of people care what is happening to the country.

The troop surge is one of the few things Obama has done that I agree with. Too bad it had to be tied to a plan to get out at a fixed date no matter what the actual conditions are.

He should've been truthful and said we'll be there for the next 50 years or so.

That's what I was referring to. He made the right very happy with this troop surge, and then he appealed to the left by his so-called fixed exit date. There is no way that date is fixed. No way. Gates is already spinning it that there is no real planned exit strategy, after Obama's speech.

Anyone that has any critical thinking left, knew after they heard that speech that you can't plan a surge and then give a date when you are leaving. It amazes that a lot of people cannot, or will not, see through this.

Obama and his empty headed disciples continue to blame poor dumb stupid decider Bush for everything.

Truth is Obama is failing to put forth any realistic plans that do anything other than tear down the economy and he can't blame Bush for his massive lies and mistakes. It has become and old worn out excuse.

It's gotten to the point where it's like a kid caught stealing cookies and the first words out of his mouth are, George made me do it.

Sooner or later the Liar In Chief Obama needs to face the truth that he's and amateur in over his empty head.

I didn't think we could elect a president that was worse then GWB, atleast not back to back, but alas, we did!:doh

hh another Kool-Aide Drinker, you do understand that allot of the problems we have now can go directly back to the Democratic Controlled Congress of the 80s and the last two years of Mr. Bush second term.

But hey don't let fact stand in your way Scott :doh

He inheritied the worst part of it from his own - Dodd, Frank, Pelosi, Reid, etc.

Yeah, because they were in charge the entire time W. was in office...

oops... no they weren't...:2wave:

Yeah...remembering when W stood for George W. Bush, it now stands for what the hades were you thinking when you stepped behind the ballot curtain?

Oops wrong again hazlnut they were in charge the last two years of his Adm. and this si when the **** hit the fan. But lets not stop at the last two years of Mr. Bush Adm. this whole mess can go all the way back to the democratical control congress of the 80s.

Obama didn't inherit his low approval rating. He started at 68% approval in January and now it's down to 47%. He did that all by himself. You can't blame the republicans for that. Presidents have to take responsibility for their own actions and decisions and the public's resultant approval/disapproval.
