Yeah, but they gonna meddle all the more in Afghanistan.

KABUL--The Taliban said in a statement Saturday it would provide a "legal guarantee" that they would not intervene in foreign countries if international troops withdraw from Afghanistan.

The Taliban have "no agenda of meddling in the internal affairs of other countries and is ready to give legal guarantee if the foreign forces withdraw from Afghanistan," the group said in a statement emailed to news organizations

That's BS. The Taliban never intervened in anyone's affairs in the first place; they harbored terrorists who did. That's just as bad, and they do not claim that they will not do that again (not that anyone would believe them if they did).

A mulligan?....
I think not!....;)
Surrender or be smited......:2wave:

Of course not they didn't directly attack us before they just facilitated Al Qaeda's attacks.

The Taliban and Al Qaeda are a bunch of retards or after hearing Obama lay out his cut and run plan they'd have done not one damn thing and pretended they gave up until Obama pulls out the troops. Then could just walk in almost unopposed and take up where they left off, at being the most repressive, murderous, intolerant, radical, fundamental misfits since Pol Pot, the Khmer Rouge regime. They made Eddi Amin and Saddam Hussein look like Sunday School teachers.

I was very critical of the dumb ass move of Obama touting his plans the way he did, but I failed to take into account the Mentally challenged nature of the Islamo Fascists.

it is not the west we are conserned with it is there

I think the Taliban aims are sincere, but we don't think they will handover the members of Qa'ida al-Jihad, whom we seek. I would change my viewpoint if they bring us an offering-- I'm thinking Usama bin-Laden and al-Zawahiri would be fine offerings.

Which Taliban is making this offer? Troops in Afghanistan are making a distinction between little "t" taliban and big "T" Taliban. The taliban are those tribes who are too weak to resist the Taliban.

Of interest-- there are reports that the Taliban is converting (not all at one, but slowly) to Wahabism-- of course Wahabi literature has been in circulation in Afghanistan/Pakistan since late 20th century.

Also, this is further evidence that the war will be won if Americans remain determined. The Taliban are already capitulating because they know Obama is coming after them. Take a page out of Bush's book, Mr. President, and stay the course.

McChrystal is about to give the Taliban the absolute worst headache.

Now where have I heard that one before?

"I think they're in the last throes, if you will, of the insurgency." -- on the Iraq insurgency, June 20, 2005 Dick Cheney

It's right up there with this one in regards to Iraq:

My belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators." --March 16, 2003 Dick Cheney

Logical Fallacy.

You're comparing Afghanistan to Iraq.

My, what a mature contribution.

The Taliban, and Al quad are freaking terrorists that need to get their butts kicked.

Plus, the Taliban never meddle in the west, but they did harbor terrorists aka Al QUAD. and of course supported some of the terrorist actions by given them money.

Wrong. I'm comparing the fallacy of thinking your enemy is capitulating when they make statements as in the above. And I showed an example of a someone in a position of power thinking naively that way.

I posted the second post just to show you how naive Cheney was. After all he never served in a war zone. He let someone else do it for him (five deferments).

I'm not sure that capitulatory statements made by our enemies can be aptly compared to speculative statements made by the former Vice President.

Also, we're winning in Iraq. It will be a model country within the next decade.

Oh! My apologies. I thought you were referring to our posts as BS...

I would like to know your definition of a model country?

We were greeted as liberators. It wasn't until later that the Iraqis turned against us.

That's quite a bit of wishful thinking mixed in with a heavy dose of pixie dust. Most of the current fighting is political in nature. Religious extremists, Iraqi nationalists, Shia Sunnis, kurds, etc; all those factions have one thing keeping them in check, our military. Iraq is in sixth place on the "Failed States Index" above even Afghanistan.

And as hopeful as we'd all like to be, no one has any idea what will happen once we pull our finger out of the dike.
