Italian court convicts Amanda Knox of murder

The police reportedly accused her of lying within an hour of her first interrogation. How the hell would they know if she was lying at that point?

And there's still no evidence linking her to the crime. Next?

After being on the end of an interrogation or two, believe me its not an unusual tactic for the Police to go in hard at early stage whilst the suspect is vulnerable, it often gets results.

Oh great, let's make this about the faults of America's legal system now...

I heard you do trial by media, but thought till now that it was only hyperbole.

Let's review:

The lead prosecutor is an occultist who obtained his motive from occultist blogger that supposedly communicates with a dead priest.

The lead prosecutor is under indictment for abuse of office.

The lead prosecutor has a history of over-zealous prosecution.

A key piece of forensic evidence was not collected until six weeks after the murder.

The alleged murder weapon does not match the police composite which was extrapolated from the murder scene.

The jury had full access to senationalistic media reports which were heavily biased against Amanda Knox.

Yea, the Italian justice system sure is "different" from America's.

allegedly being the operative word.

Paul

Yea, and Amanda Knox allegedly participated in the rape and murder of her roommate with a common criminal that she had never met before.

Totally plausible motive.

:\ Yeah, in the Movies or for famous/infamous people. Even then, not always the case.

Ummmm, no, we don't. We sequester our juries so that they don't have access to sensational media reports.

..... Or perhaps they simply carried out their duty unhindered by "evidence" filtered through a partisan American media storm.

OK. Perhaps you can cite the evidence that implicates her in the murder. I'm waiting.

Right, one of the cops allegedly hit her. I don't know if they did or not, as I was not in the room. But those OTHER things I listed are not in dispute. So even without the hitting, she was subjected to rather harsh interrogation techniques. It isn't difficult to see that a 20-year-old college girl might not hold up well under those conditions.

Yes, it will get "results" all right. Pretty much any result you want, which is exactly why it's not always reliable.

Exactly! And aside from the total lack of evidence, the whole theory is just ridiculous. The prosecutor is asserting that a 20-year-old female with no history of crime, violence, mental illness, or anger management issues convinced two men whom she barely knew (and who didn't know each other at all) to participate in a gang-rape and murder. That hardly sounds like the type of crime that females commit very often. And aside from that, there is no physical evidence linking either Knox or Sollecito to the murder scene.

That video to which you linked was quite informative. I was especially interested in the story of the American writer who the same prosecutor detained in conjunction with another murder. The prosecutor's ridiculous theory about THAT case (a group of people performing a Satanic ritual instead of a lone killer) was almost exactly the same as his theory in this case. He is clearly obsessed with the occult, and fundamentally prefers fanciful theories involving the occult to mundane theories that would stand up to Occam's Razor.

OMG, you just made me LMAO! :rofl

Well I spent time in Pisa, Rome, Liverno, and Naples and had a great time, especially in Naples and Rome........I did find it odd though that in Naples some guy on the pier tried to sell me a machine gun.......Still had a great time though Lucky Luciano three a 2 day party on the Isle of Capri for my ship.....To this day I have never see a buffet like that...Anything you can name and it was spectacular..............

Sorry to get off topic but that is one of my memories of Italy.........

Exactly......Its amazing that some people caan't see the forest for the trees........

Have you ignored everything we've been saying so far?

HELLO!? Earth to Navy Pride! See the forest, yet?

I'm mostly pissed at the media. They were more concerned with sensationalizing the trial than reporting the story objectively; no wonder so many people just assumed she was guilty. Even I assumed as much, until I saw Van Sant on The O'Reilly Factor (yes, I watch sometimes...:3oops:):

I really hope Hillary Clinton and Maria Cantwell stay involved until Ms. Knox is released, instead of just until the case falls out of the headlines.

According to Peter Van Sant, the police officer who allegedly hit Amanda Knox is under investigation for physically abusing other suspects. Since Knox presumably had no way of knowing that at the time, it seems like quite a coincidence that she would falsely accuse this same officer. If Van Sant is correct about this, I'm inclined to believe that she was indeed physically abused by the police.

At first, I just felt that the evidence wasn't convincing and there was a reasonable doubt to her guilt...but the more I study this case, the more certain I am that she is completely 100% innocent.

I don't want to see anyone wrongfully convicted but this girl is guilty as hell and you are very naive not to see it...........They have conclusive DNA evidence against her.........

I saw this guy om Oreilly and he is a big fan of Knox.......He has no real proof except what he believes that she is innocent.............

No, they absolutely do not have conclusive DNA evidence against her. That is a complete falsehood.

Maybe, instead of taking the drive-by media's word for it, you should conduct some independent research.

Since when is a person expected to prove their innocence? Last time I checked, the burden of proof was on the state.

Perhaps Italy subscribes to your "guilty until proven innocent" theory, too.

I guess I have heard over 100 times they did have conclusive DNA evidence........I have a flash for you....Young Americans can do bad things when they are overseas and away from their family and loaded with drugs whether you believe it or not.................

This is Italy......different country, different laws.........Let it be a lesson to you......They use to tell us aboard ship when we went ashore... don't get in trouble with the local law.............I had 2 friends who were drunk and caught urinating in public in Turkey........They went to court, found guilty and were locked up........4 years later I saw message traffic trying to get these guys out of jail..........

Then there are only two possibilities:

1. You were lied to.

2. You were hearing voices.

I have a flash for you....Young Americans can do bad things when they are overseas and away from their family and loaded with drugs whether you believe it or not.................

Strawman.

I'm not disputing the fact that Amanda Knox is in Italy, or that foreign countries have different laws from America, I'm disputing her guilt, which hasn't been proven.
