New York State Senate Votes Down Gay Marriage Bill

Uh-huh. Just keep digging that hole, man. Just keep digging that hole.

Already have. There is no link to any study from you in this thread anywhere.

You are a liar.

And where'd you get the 60% number from, Chuckles?

I made it up. I'm trying to be generous since you can't even hit that number let alone 100.

Still waiting for you to prove I'm a "known liar"

I'm arguing using the "ignorant, enlightened, and tolerant" argument to debate someone.

I believe we had a discussion about this. There are possibilities for people who are against gay marriage not to be bigots and intolerant people. Except that those possibilities included a rather small subset of positions. None of which people like Navy Pride subscribe to. The real, sole, non-bigoted position is that government shouldn't be in the marriage business. But I have never seen the adamantly anti-gay marriage crowed subscribe to that. It's mostly libertarians who then in the next sentence argue for the dissolution of hetero marriage as well.

Well since you're being generous, I'll be generous, too. You aren't a liar. You're just a bull****ter.

Which? His position on gay marriage or Navy Pride's ignorance?

Well, if you examine the margins on defeat of gay marriage bills over the past 30 years, they've gone from universal staggering defeats to barely scrimping by. Prop 8 was passed with a mere 4.2%.

Same-Sex Marriage: As Hawaii Goes . . .

And yet the state has virtually no problems with a civil union status that is for all intensive purposes, separate but equal.

Given the decreasing margins of victory for the anti-gay marriage group, it's only a matter of time.

OC is clueless on the subject.Gay Marriage is doomed and he knows it.........He lives in fantasy land..........

I'm done playing with you giggles.

You've proven you can't back up your claims and its obvious you are not interested in debate.

You are quite emotional though.

I haven't made up anything.

I gave you a number to hit and you couldn't even hit 60%.

Then you lied and claim you had linked to the study in this thread and you never did.

So doomed that in 10 years it went from seeing 40%+ margins against to 4.2% margins against.

And considering your record, I'll bet that gay marriage will pass. Whatever Navy projects, bet the opposite and you'll come out on top 99% of the time.

Yeah right how many states had gay marriage 20 years ago.

Is school out already?

I never once made up a statistic. I challenged you to find any study that claimed a genetic link in even 60% of homosexuals in a general study.

You however made up the fact you linked to studies in this thread and you didn't.

It is not about you folks, it is about power, of course gay marriage was voted down, there are bigger fish to fry....i.e, YOU!:doh

Yep. School is definitely out.

But the ignore button is in! :rofl

Thanks for proving that even when you get caught in an obvious lie you can't admit it.

As are you if you think this issue is just going to go away because it isn't going through in a few states. It will keep going until it is made legal, and it will be. Many people thought that interracial marriage wouldn't go through, but look what happened. Society progresses, and will continue to do so.

I once thought the same thing....now.....I am not so sure.

Why are you not so sure? Look how far gay marriage has come in the last 20 years.

My comment was not limited to gay marriage, but yes, I still think this is a very ignorant society, far from the progress some claim. That said, some progress is very dangerous, and is not progress at all, but a sliding back in to tyranny.

Navy is struggling with the reality that even within his lifetime he is going to see gay marriage throughout this nation. Its difficult for him to swallow.

Many are ignorant within our society, which is why progress is slow. I think it is inevitable, though. I can see your point, but I don't think gay marriage would fall under that "dangerous" category.

I think we've still got a ways to go before we see it legalized on that level. Things are bound to get far uglier before it actually happens, but I think it is inevitable.

I witnessed a federal DOMA law and an amendment to my State's Constitution defining marriage as between one man and one woman.

I personally don't think Navy or myself have anything to worry about, not in this lifetime anyway.

And I remeber when sodomy was illegal in my state. Texas.

The problem for you is that all of that is moot once the Court finds an equal protection violation....and even if that doesn't occur...public opinion is shifting rapidly and those DOMA laws and state amendments can be easily voted out as they were voted in.
