Cop Killer was pardoned from a life sentence by Mike Huckabee 9 years ago

The entire premise of this thread begins with a glaring flaw. The governor did not pardon him. Try again.

Face it, the guy killed 4 cops and if Huckabee had not commuted his sentence he wouldn't be out now.

I'm pretty sure Huckabee had no idea 9 years ago what this guy would do.

You don't think the Libbos are going to let facts get in their way, do you?

Huckabee's magic crystal ball should get all the blame.

Giving birth to someone is a reach for placing fault.

Actually COMMITTING THE CRIME isn't a reach for placing fault.

So is trying to duck who commuted his sentence.

The entire justice system situation began upon the point where this individual broke a law. That's when the justice system begins.

Thats right. And Huckabee interfered with that process. Second time I've had to point this out to you.

Had the sentence that was given to him not been exceedingly and grossly larger than it should have been then who knows what would've happened in regards to the commutation.

Yet you don't want to acknowledge that.

You want to claim that but the court and jury gave him that sentence. You want to excuse Huckabee for interfering with that sentence. I don't give him that luxury.

You want to say that Huckabee overturned a "lawful punishment" while ignoring the fact that what Huckabee did was ALSO lawful.

If you are going to lie about my statements, show me anywhere where I said what Huckabee did was illegal.

Go ahead.

Why was one lawful, but possibly negligent thing (a grossly over the top jail sentence), something you'll happily ignore, forgive, and not even mention but another lawful but possibly negligent thing (commuting his sentence), something you want to crucify a man for?

Again, please stop lying about what I said. I never said what he did was illegal.

Not once. I said he interfered with the process and thats exactly what he did.

That's the focus YOU want because it fits your little hatchet job against a politician you don't like because you don't view him as "conservative enough" (which is funny, cause others are going at him because he's a "extreme right winger").

And you excuse his interference into the decision because you like him.

Pot meet kettle.

You're right, the commutation was done by Huckabee, that falls on him.

That doesn't mean the entire justice cycle started with him, nor does that place the blame squarely on his shoulders by any stretch.

I'll say it again real slow. It started with him because he commuted a lawful sentence.

He was under NO obligation to do so. That is why it started with him.

Do you really believe the probation board didn't take his commuting of the sentence into account when they let him out? Are you really that naive?

If a horrible, crippling, just constitution trashing bill just got passed who would you blame? The President for signing it into law? The congress for voting it forward? The Committe for voting it to the floor? The person that sponsored it? The firm that lobbied and wrote it? All of the above?

Anyone who voted for it.

Starting with the person who proposed it in the first place.

And no I wouldn't blame his mother or the paper he used to write it on

I'm going to guess you'd place the blame all of the above despite the fact it "started" at the lobbying firm.

Wrong again.

I'm sure you wouldn't be giving Obama and Pelosi a pass because sure, they were wrong for passing it on, but if it wasn't there in the first place it wouldn't have happened.

Thats right but it wouldn't start with the lobby firm. It would start with the first representative or Senator who introduced the bill in the first place.

Way to get as far offtopic as possible.

Yet here you want to essentially ignore EVERYONE else in line, even the criminal it seems, to squarely and largely place it singularly on Huckabee's shoulders.

I said it started with him and that is a fact. He decided to interfere legal or not in the sentence because he liked the fact this guy claimed he was born again which was obviously a lie.

You just can't grasp the fact that commuting the sentence got the ball rolling for his entire treatment and how he got out in Arkansas because you're too busy feeling sorry for him.

I'm sure Dukakis loved you as well.

It started with the Criminal doing a crime.

Wrong again. The subject is how he got out, not the crime he did.

Huckabee was one person in a long line of people that made a bad decision which led to this person having the oppertunity to do his latest crime.

He was the FIRST. That is why the blame begins with him.

Now please stop lying about what I have said and actually read my replies without putting your own spin on them.

You're the one who has been lying texmaster.

Sounds like Huckabee's "Willie Horton" end to any future Presidential asspirations to me.

Oh please.

Michael Dukasis let a MURDERER who was serving life without possibility of parole out on a weekend furlough because his states penal system (with no death penalty) said that without hope of release, inmates serving life without parole would be too dangerous for prison workers to handle.

Mike Huckabee reduced the sentence of a BURGLAR! Who would've been eligible for parole eventually anyway.

HUGE DIFFERENCE.

Case closed.

I think he regrets that decision. He felt, at the time, that the young man should get another shot at life, being that he was so young when the crime was committed. I'm surprised that liberals are crying foul here, it's often the liberal segment of society that pushes for second chances for criminals to be rehabilitated. They tend to oppose 'Three Strikes' laws, and often argue that minorities, such as this fellow, don't get a fair shake by society.

Guaranteed. If he hadn't pardoned the kid, they would have villified him in the press. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

It's even funnier to see Libbos get upset because a burglar didn't get a life sentence!...lol

It is a typical Granola Liberal tactic to ignore facts replace them with their own perversions of the truth then protest them as if hey were real.

I am not a big Huckabee fan but he reduced a sentence from over 100 years down to 47 and the parole board saw fit to le him out and them when he violated parole a JUDGE let him basically walk.

The perp. was 16 when sentenced to over 100 years and still the Liberals idiots are claiming he was PARDONED it's in front page news head lines. Dims (no spell error) are living up to that title. They are Dim to lie when the truth would serve them better.

Only person that would pardoned this guy would have been Obama if the guy was a Black Panther of a Muslim terrorist brother.

Do you have anything to say other than random insults?

I didn't read this whole thread, but, Huckabee commuted a 105 year life sentence to something else I think 46 years. It was the parole board that released him...

Without that clemency, the parole board would NOT have been able to release this guy. So Huckabee takes the blame for making it possible for him to be released.

No clemency, no parole.

Once again Governor Mike Huckabee DID NOT PARDON Clemmons.

He reduced his sentence to 47 years which meant that the guy was eligible for parole in 11 years.

The parole board voted 5-0 to grant him parole (he was a nonviolent offender) and the judge in his original trial agreed with the recommendation.

Eleven years is way above average for what a person who committed a similar crime would serve.

This thread is nothing more than pointless Mike Huckabee bashing.

He must have the Democrats really worried for 2012.
Well anytime you see Gibberish show up, you know the leftwing premise holds no water.

I have no political issues with Mr. Huckabee. I did believe, and continue to believe, that he is a nothing - not presidential material and certainly not worth my political input.

My concern regarding Mr. Huckabee is limited to his penchant for releasing violent criminals for (a) questionable reasons, and/or (b) in direct violation of his state's laws.

As for my personal agenda? Maybe I'm crazy, but I just don't like the idea of my life being endangered by violent felons who've been paroled YEARS before their sentence has been completed.

The way to prevent future incidents like this is to keep violent repeat offenders IN prison for their full sentences.

Exactly! Couldn't agree more. These guys need to be kept off the street. Habitual criminals have no place in society.

I'm pretty sure Huckabee had no idea 9 years ago what this guy would do.

This guy was a habitual criminal with 5 felony convictions that added up to his lengthy sentences.

After his release, he remained a habitual criminal repeating the same crimes, plus new ones like assaulting a police officer, child rape and four murders.

What part of "habitual criminals deserve to remain in prison until they die" don't you understand?

Career felons don't change and it's Huckabee's fault that this guy was set loose upon society.

By my calculations, even if Governor Huckabee had done nothing, Clemmons would be coming up for parole soon anyway.

I don't understand the fanaticism of the Huckabee bashing.

He was one of the best modern governors Arkansas ever had.

I think it is anti religous bias in no small part.

Soon means he'd still be in Arkansas and 4 cops would still be alive to celebrate Christmas with their families.

Mike needs to step down off the cross. This is not his burden to bare.

You're right. People just can't stand when someone believes something different than their own beliefs. It drives them crazy, especially when the person doesn't believe in evolution. Why does that bug people so much? I have to admit, I harbor a prejudice against people who believe in Creationism.

My Stepbrother, who is a big Obama supporter, is also a big fan of Huckabee. He says that he did a lot to improve the health of people in Arkansas.

Huckabee's big achievements in Arkansas include the ARKids health care program for kids and public school reforms (that had been proposed and rejected for 25 years during Democratic rule).

He achieved things like this despite having an overwhelmingly Democratic legislature and ran an honest and clean administration for more than 10 years.

Unlike his predecessor.
