Confused Palm Beach County voters helped thwart Al Gore's 2000 bid to become president of the United States, but he was introduced as "president of the planet" when he returned here Saturday night to deliver an environmental lecture.
The former vice president spoke on climate change at the Mizner Park Amphitheater to a crowd of about 800. More than 200 protesters gathered across the street from the event, and their boos and chants could be heard inside the amphitheater as Gore began his presentation.
Gore lost Florida, and the White House, by 537 votes to George W. Bush in a 2000 as many Palm Beach County Democrats said they mistakenly voted for conservative Pat Buchanan because they were confused by the county's "butterfly ballot" design.
After losing the presidential race, Gore became arguably the world's most famous advocate for curbing carbon emissions, gaining eco-celebrity status with the film An Inconvenient Truth and winning a Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.
"It's an interesting twist of fate here in our own backyard that former Vice President Al Gore has taken on a new platform and is now a catalyst for world change," said Marci Zaroff, an "eco-entrepeneur" who introduced Gore.
"So, in essence, he's president of the people. He's president of the planet. And the work that he's doing is more important than any other work that could possibly be done."
Listen to this sicko gorebot!! This is great, 200 protested and only 800 showed up to listen.

I am sorry but I can't force myself to listen to monotone Gore spewing his now classic GLOBAL WARMING HOAX any longer. He's been the classic hypocrite talking about sving the plant while riding around in a gas guzzling car, flying al over the world in his private plane putting out millions tones of CO2, while thinking about a few energy saving measures for his home which uses more energy in a month than I do in two years.

Science comes down on the side of those like me who claim HOAX and it come down on the side of the Gores and Obama's of the world.

The thing is this Environmentalism and conservation are good ideas. Unfortunately the movements are run by people who are now in them for the money. There are real environmentalists and conservationists that believe in what they say and the bad thing is they have yet to see through the lies they are being told about the solutions.

It does not take a genius to come up with better ways to address real the issues that could get true results faster and much cheaper than anything we keep being told.

Why do you think the greenies are fighting clean solar energy plants in California and Nevada? Simply because they work. It's the same reason they are fighting wind generators all over the damn place and dreaming some dumb ass excuse for fighting them when the truth is they fight them because they work and answer the problems.

But Councilman that doesn't make any sense. Why would any greenie who has spent a live time crying out for solar and wind generation suddenly turn away from them as solutions?

As I said because they work and in doing so help to put those at the to of these organizations that claim to be fighting for the invironment one step closer to being out of business.

Just look what happened to "The March of Dimes" when Polio was no longer the threat it once was. What did "The March of Dimes" do? Go out of business. Hell no they woke un one morning and found they weren't needed any more to fight Polio and said wow what do we do now. They will tell you that because they had an effective organization for raising funds they decided to just find another cause to support so "The March of Dimes" funds research in biochemistry, microbiology, developmental biology, genetics, pediatrics, and many other fields organization was born. But what it also did was keep those who were at the top of the group in the money.

It's not a bad thing to change and help others but the evivormentalist created the problems in some cases out of whole cloth and if they are cured they have no new HOAX they can perpetrate and still many money.

As i daid before the problems can be addressed without major cost and actually create real jods not "Obama Jobs" that only exist in the mind of the Messiah.

I once had a team of Mangers who could because of training and a positive mind set tackle and over come any obstacle and do it with an existing budget. That same group could in a few days come up with solutions and plans to address just about every problem we face. Not only that but they would no doubt be willing to do it with any graft or under the table dealing and whats more there are only three of them I would need and all the Czars could go back to what ever they were not very good at in the private sector. This is not because my team were geniuses but because Obama's are not.

Enviromentalism is like racism, it's a shakedown scam. It's a moneymaking operation to those politically motivated.

Amen Brother

Sadly you are right. I believe that welfare is part of a ploy to make people dependent and thus keep them down all the time they are being told by the Dimes (no spell error) that they are trying to help. It creates a built in constituency.
Remember it was form the dims the KKK sprung and the Southern Dims fought the civil right movement. And there is much more.

If he is so right why was no press allowed?

Has anyone seem the document talking about Gore's connections to companies that stand to gain the most from a Carbon tax? I can't seem to find it now.

I want you to take a step back, focus on what you wrote (even if it is in sarcasm) and try to piece together the bigger picture. You are onto something that many people don't really understanding about modernity, or the status quo.

Think about the roots of both.

We're getting scammed a lot these days and it sucks. Hard. Most people can't see it.

I think "scammed" is putting it nicely, but you are on the way. Think about these movements and where they end and what that means about our system and about our ability to change the government.

Then think of the true alternative and who, scarily, may be in the right.

btw, part of the opening scene in An Very Convenient Lie, oh sorry, and Inconvenient Truth, is taken from the movie "The Day After Tomorrow"

Go on, I'm listening.

Or 1000 in and 100 out, according to the AP.

Gore draws protesters to climate speech - Florida AP - MiamiHerald.com

800/200 or 1000/100, either way, it is great that evidence-challenged shriekers are in such a minority.

Totally agree, but I would add that the protestors are stupid for two reasons:

1) They really have no idea what they're protesting.

2) They are working for FREE for the energy and oil lobby. Think of how much money energy corps pay dissenting scientists to write phony op-eds while they jerks work for free. Well done, idiots.

They are unwitting political operatives. Congrats morons!:2wave:

they protest crippling, job killing taxes on energy---both production and consumption---in the midst of our economic crisis

hello

they speak for themselves, per first amendment

(it should be surprising such obvious realities require explanation)

I seen an article that said the press was not allowed in. I can't seem to find it now

"Organizers allowed the media to cover only the first few minutes of Gore's presentation. "

In the link from the OP.

You posted that right after Councilman...so it appeared that you were commenting on his post.

I don't have to add to this, It all speaks for itself.

British judge finds nine errors in Al Gore's "alarmist and exaggerated" Inconvenient Truth movie

The British newspapers are full of stories this morning about a High Court judge's criticisms of Al Gore's Inconvenient Truth movie. See The Times, Daily Mail and Guardian.

Mr Justice Barton had been asked to rule on the film after the British Government had announced plans to have it distributed throughout the nation's schools.

Justice Barton found 'nine scientific errors' in the film and accused Mr Gore of "alarmism" and "exaggeration". Although he agreed that the film was "powerful, dramatically presented and highly professionally produced," he said that it was a political film and was so "one-sided" that it needed to be accompanied with other materials that provided pupils with balance if the Government was to continue with its plans to distribute it to schools.

Seems kind of sparse for a religious gathering. I know if it was some other famous religious preacher the numbers would be higher. There would beway more than 800-1000 people.

The speaker has to be believable.
