I don't know which is worse, the fact that the Iranian government is using three civilians as pawns like this, or that the victims of detainment "deserved" it according to their fellow Americans. No one deserves it, okay? It might happen because of an error in judgment, but they don't deserve to be captured by a theocracy and locked away forever.
They went to a war zone and they went near Iran or on the Iranian border most likely probably against the advice of anyone with at least a brain cell in their head. So yes they deserved it. Hopefully we do not risk the lives of troops and hopefully we do not risk just sending them a better hostage by sending a former president or someone else to go try to bargain for their release. The US should say **** em, this would ensure that a bunch idiot civilians do not do this **** again. The lives of troops should nor the lives of any of our politicians or former presidents is worth the life of any of those idiots. This is like where those idiot reporters go to a war zone and our troops have to risk their lives to either baby sit them or go rescue them from terrorist scum.
The callousness and lack of compassion of some people is astounding.
I do have compassion, however its not misplaced on morons who happen to be civilians going to a war zone(Iraq) and going near or on the border of dictator's country(Iran). If we end up sending troops, a politician, former president/politician or some one else to go say their sorry asses then my compassion will be on the individuals risking their ass to go try to save those sorry ****s.
