Czar to substantially cut pay: Summers

You're an exception to the rule. Why did you vote for PBO's wealth redistribution plan? Why do you support someone who pushes, "economic justice"?

Where the **** is all this wealth redistribution? I'll wait:cool:

It's right here:

“The Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth and sort of more basic issues of political and economic justice in this society. And to that extent as radical as I think people tried to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution, as least as it’s been interpreted, and Warren Court interpreted in the same way that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties, says what the states can’t do to you, says what the federal government can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf. And that hasn’t shifted.” --Barack Obama

And some more:

I just love it when people go into denial when PBO turns out to look like an asshole.

Great point. Obama's 2001 comments on what the Warren Court's jurisprudence meant = WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION HAPPENING RIGHT NOW OMG.

Look, I agree with you on the underlying principle that Obama is in favor of wealth redistribution to a greater degree than I'm comfortable with. However, this quote in no way supports that conclusion. At all. It's a (rather intelligent) analysis of what the Warren Court did.

Why don't you prove your claim that liberals hate people making money?

Just wake up and smell the coffee, instead of making imature, uninformed demands on the internet.

PBO said point blank, to Joe the Plumber that he was going to spread the wealth around. He never hid the fact that that is what he wants to do and now we're seeing it.

It was your demand actually, I just repeated it back to you, while proving your claim wrong as you demanded. Now, you can prove that liberals hate people who make money, or are you going to admit you are making it up?

I never made any demands of anyone, along those lines. Maybe you should get off your high horse and re-read what I said.

There are very many aspects of wealth distribution within the United States. Various aspects of federal funding for higher education, specifically Pell grants and student loan subsidies, are positive examples of wealth redistribution.

My question pertains to new instances of wealth redistribution.

So why didn't you quote that instead of an irrelevant statement on the Warren Court?

Joe the Plumber? Really? In October ...2009..... Really?

of course my post was tongue in cheek.

U.S. cuts pay at bailed out firms, BofA hits back

U.S. cuts pay at bailed out firms, BofA hits back - Yahoo! News

Does anyone know if pay-cuts were a part of the bailout agreement with the banks?

What was the structure of the bailout? Did the U.S. government acquired an equity interest or was it simply loans with various covenants, including a pay-cut clause?

Finally, if it was an equity interest, what percentage do we own? Is it common voting stock? Did the government "vote out" the current boards?

The reason I'm asking these questions is that I would like to understand the legal means by which forced pay-cuts were crammed down the banks' throats.

Why would the wealthy "libbo's" vote for him if we was so detrimental to their wealth?

That is a Damn Good Question. It makes no sense at all. It must be Rich, White, Liberal Guilt syndrome.

Expanded unemployment benefits.

Cap and trade that will probably pass Congress this session or early next.

"Health Care Reform" which will tax those who have money in order to pay for health care for people who "can't afford it".

Blocking access to oil and gas within the U.S. boundaries which increase the cost of fuel as well as increasing the taxes paid to the government.

How do those sound for a few examples of the government "redistributing" wealth form those who have it to those who will vote Democrat in the next election?

Article said:
While Feinberg's powers only extend to the seven bailed-out companies, the government on Thursday unveiled a broader initiative to have the Federal Reserve closely police pay across financial firms.

I do NOT Agree with this at all.

Shifting demand, not wealth redistribution.

Agreed.

link?

If the republicans can put together a serious contender for the presidency, then i will most likely vote for them. If not and/or the economy as well as health care improves Obama wins.

Shifting demand, not wealth redistribution.

Extending unemployment benefits has cost additional billions from the treasury. The treasury gets it's funding from taxes. Taxes take money from those that have earned it and transfers the money to the government.

Pigouvian taxation, not wealth redistribution.

What the hell does that mean? If you add new costs to business, they pass those costs on to consumers so that they still make a profit. The "fees" from cap and trade are paid to the government who then use them for whatever they choose. Usually, whatever they think will garner them enough votes to get re-elected. If I take money from you via taxes and give it to someone who doesn't want to work, how is that NOT wealth redistribution? Do you have your own vocabulary where words mean something different to you than they do to everyone else?

At this point in time, anyone who can tell the truth twice in a row would be better than Obama. If he gets this health care bill passed, it won't even be implemented until 2013, after the next presidential election. Convenient, huh? He will be able to claim great accomplishments without anything actually having changed by that time.
