Cheney: Stop ‘dithering’ on Afghanistan troops

You mean Nixon right?

Nixon didn't execute the war the way it should have been, but he was certainly more agressive than anyone else. His actions brought on The Paris Peace Accords.

Cheney was right, they didn't need 600,000 troops to take Iraq. And now you are critizing them for not surging faster!? Ridiculous.

I do think Afghanistan has been the forgotten war, but that is because it is very difficult to win there.

Ummm you do know 100,000+ Iraqis and 3,000+(then) soldiers died before they boosted troop levels in Iraq right? And this boost only came YEARS after being recommended by Gen. Shinseki?

tell it to obama, he's the fool who made the impossible promise

the previous president was a loser

his referendum came nov 7

What I would say to President Obama is...Thank you sir, for having enough respect for your country and having the courage to take the time it requires to make the correct choices. Thank you for not rushing to judgement and relying on all sources of intelligence and using your sound presence of mind not to rush and act on faulty intelligence.

That's what I would tell him.....:rofl

I agree, I prefer overwhelming numbers in most tactical situations. *****footing is for the media.

I dont care if there is anyone left to be shocked or awed I just want everyone to come home safe.

Sounds like some people here would say.."I don't care if your decision is good or bad....Just make it FAST!"

Newsflash: This isn't Iraq and Bush isn't president. Is that going to constantly be PBO's excuse, "but, but, Bush did it, waaaaaaaaaaaaa"?

Judging by history it is already going to be a bad decision. Just get it done.

A bad decision is better than no decision. There was an old saying when I was in the Army: "Make a decision, even if it's wrong".

Bush??....Whose Bush?? ...The GOP never heard of him???

Exactly how long did the Right use Clinton for an excuse for their failures?

Do you Remember?

The reality is that the current situation exists because of a series of PAST bad decisions reguarding Afganistan policy.

Should the President HURRY UP and make the same mistakes Apdst?

That's what I would tell him, too.
He's under a considerable amount of pressure to act quickly.
Every soldier who dies while he's reviewing the situation and considering his options is going to become fodder for his political adversaries to beat him over the head with.
This can't be easy or pleasant for someone of Obama's temperament.

I'm glad he has the strength to hold off doing anything until he has enough information to do the right thing, whatever that might turn out to be.

Isn't that the philosophy that got us into this mess?

Not nearly as much as you cats are doing and when it did happen, you all cried to high heaven over it.

He's already busting ass as hard as he can to make the same mistkes. And you folks are excusing him for it, "b-b-because Bush did it, waaaaaaaaaaa".

Personally...I don't think I'm going to like the decision that Obama will probably make....He almost has to keep troops there for a while..... for political reasons & I want them home tomorrow afternoon.

The "Decider" was always wrong......but he was FAST...I'll give him that!

He made a good decision when he authorized the surge to be launched. Can't argue that. PBO's theater commander his handing him everything on a silver platter and he still doesn't want to make a move. He would rather have super-top-secret media propaganda meetings and dinner parties instead.

Not gonna re-fight the Vietnam War. If anyone can convince themselves that we didn't lose it politically....more power to you.

YOU brought it up, and it was about North Vietnam winning over South Vietnam.

White House rejects Cheney?s war criticism - White House- msnbc.com

WASHINGTON - The White House on Thursday forcefully rejected criticism from former Vice President Dick Cheney and other Republicans that President Barack Obama's Afghanistan decision is taking too long.

"What Vice President Cheney calls dithering, President Obama calls his solemn responsibility to the men and women in uniform and to the American public," White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said. "I think we've all seen what happens when somebody doesn't take that responsibility seriously."

Obama is nearing a decision on whether to significantly expand the U.S. war posture in Afghanistan by honoring a military request for thousands of additional forces. The decision had been expected as early as mid-August, when Obama's new war commander prepared a harsh assessment of deteriorating conditions in the 8-year-old conflict, and now is expected in what Gibbs calls "the coming weeks."

fascinating

why don't you write him a letter

I supported him with my vote.

I support him with the confidence that he is not going to ignore our past mistakes and make every attempt not to repeat them...for the sake of our troops. For the sake of our country.
