I agree that the US military can not be defeated unless it is cut off, I do not know Afganistan can be built into a democratic nation, or if the effort to do so is worth the lives for five more years.

I would give the Afgans the benifit of the doubt, and try (which means your freinds are in more, not less risk, for surges mean more, not less death, intially) but we have to think how long can we nation build rather than just destroy our enemies?
 
it's really quite simple

in these times of economic malaise, the prez simply can't afford to wage a war on 2 fronts

and these days obama's busy battling beck and his boys

and he's losing
