Top Revolutionary Guard commanders assassinated

Sadly, I can see the Special Activities Division of the CIA behind this attack.

And what are the NEEDS of your country in Iran?

Regime change to a proper demoracy. No dismissals of candidates by the Guardian Council, etc.

Nothing else in your post even pertained to the topic, and this isn't an argument. Care to try again?

OK

That others are also interested in happiness and have an aversion to suffering is secondary to the needs of my country. I'm delighted when they are congruent.

There's no ethical basis for such jingoism and substantially more suffering caused by jingoistic initiatives than would occur should non-nationalistic perspectives and goals have been considered.

To me the needs (happiness and aversion to suffering) of my country take precedence over the needs of other countries. Since my position is to spread democracy, the needs of other countries are congruent with my country's needs.

Seriously, what are the US needs in Iran?

 :lamo:lamo pull another one! :lamo

You had some other intelligent comment you wished to make about my assertion that regime change of Iran is in my countries interests?

Is it in Iran's interests?

Since my position is to spread democracy, the needs of other countries are congruent with my country's needs.

But certainly not congruent with your countries actions. The interests of the country have been well served in imposing non-democratic governments. Our needs before theirs right?

And again, there's no objective ethical basis for such jingoism, and an obvious ethical basis against it when anti-democratic actions committed to benefit the U.S. political or financial classes cause suffering of a more extreme nature than the happiness they provide. The removal of Mossadeq and consolidation of power by the Shah is an example of this.

Sorry, I thought you were joking.

And how regime change in Iran will benefit your country?

Why should you?

I take it you are not American?

The reason we should conduct foreign relations is to positively affect world affairs. In our favor and in ways that are better for most individuals.

Freedoms you enjoy are not yet universally enjoyed the world over.

We would make it so.

Who said anything about objective?

No way, baby! The Freedom train is rolling!

It would remove a grave threat to the stability of this important region.

Some of you fail to recognize the inherent evil of Iran's government. They spread terrorism throughout the world and are bent on expanding their Islamic Revolution.

This is not a nice goal.

They used to have a proper democracy, until we got involved.

Ancient History.

Now we have the chance to rewrite it and the weapon is already built and pointed at their heads. We should be hearing more of this sort of news in the months to come.

Very politicaly correct way of saying: "The US has the biggest fist and thus is going to take what it wants no matter whom it belongs to."

Is anyone asking you to "benefit" them?

Many countries in the world particularly in asia are quite turned off by your concept of 'freedom', the history of foreign actions the united states has taken in its history, and the arrogance that our system of democracy should be imposed upon the world.

I find a tremendous irony in the amount of people who hate the government, hate big government, and yet support incursions into other states in the name of an ideological concept of freedom that people within our state cant even agree on. In some places the freedom to have sex with endless partners is disgusting, the freedom to have hate speech tolerated is disgusting.

This interest in 'spreading democracy' is rarely legitimate and can be summed up into a new white mans burden in the minds of its supporters.

Yes, they are. You want to give up your freedoms?

Fight terror with terror, wow that really legitimizes our struggle.

Was it a Fox News script you were reading?

Yes, they are.

Who asked the US to come and invade them, or to meddle in their affairs? Can you name such country please?
