This is the costume in question. What rights do you think this California group is trying to protect? The right for illegal immigrants to not be offended? Maybe followers of witchcraft should protest too...

I'm sure Target will cave in, but there are plenty of online sources for this funny costume.

LOS ANGELES — A Southern California immigrant rights group on Friday asked the Target store chain and a costume company to stop selling an "illegal alien" Halloween costume it said is offensive to immigrants.

The costume features the mask of an alien with a green card and an orange jumpsuit with "illegal alien" written across the front.

Angelica Salas, executive director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, wrote e-mails to Minneapolis-based Target and Wisconsin-based BuySeasons, Inc. calling the costume "distasteful, mean-spirited, and ignorant of social stigmas and current debate on immigration

Good god.

Now if it actually portrayed a stereotypical Mexican or anything like that, I'd understand their position a little better, but this costume is just funny.

Sales will most likely be up with this publicity.

I saw that at the store when I was buying my mujahid costume; I of course considered it greatly offensive and shook my head bitterly as I adjusted my Al Qaeda beard.

Now if it actually portrayed a stereotypical Mexican or anything like that

Most Mexican immigrants aren't stereotypical Mexicans, and are often racially distinct from them, to say nothing of class.

It looks like an Alien in a prison uniform. I just do not see the harm.

That rights group needs to shut the hell up. They are now clearly in the lead for the cover of WBI (Whiney Bitch Illustrated) magazine.

I think this is so funny it hurts from laughing so damn much. If the costume were a Giant Bean Burrito or a Chalupa in a Taco Bell wrapper I could see them getting upset. I'd still laugh but they might have a point in that case.
This is making fun of the UFO Space Alien Help me I've been abducted crowds who show up evey year at UFO congress events and believe in the impossible like crop circles being a message from out there. The onlt thing out there is the minds of those idiots and the absolut fools who launched this campaign. It there were a Target store near me I'd go buy as many costumes as I could find.
Everyone should let the stores that sell these costume know it's okay and very funny. Besides if a Mexican illegal gets upset who cares they should be in jail or on a bus back to Mexico anyway theu should gave no rights here and so say in anything. Is that a racist comment no because I include all illegals from ant where in the world. SHUT THE HELL UP AND GO HOME.
If I offend you good now shut up the hell and go home.

That you think a generic comment aimed at "Mexicans" would be properly racist is incorrect, anyway, as Mexico is a multi-racial country just as the U.S. is a multi-racial country. That the average U.S. resident will typically encounter the predominantly Amerindian mestizo in his capacity as a migrant laborer is an indication of their lower class and status in Mexican society, not their racial dominance in it.

If he's an illegal alien why does he have a green card?

He should be holding a TaccoBell bag in the other hand.......or your ceest'r....

No self respecting Mexican would be seen eating taco bell. He needs an Alberto's bag or at least Tito's Tacos.

How dare Target make fun of people who aren't even supposed to be here in the first place. Those bigots!!

I have often been offended by those that are offended.

If they don't like it, don't look at it. No one is forcing them to look, or listen, or whatever it is they are offended with.

I always liked the nativity scene in front of city hall years ago, now its just Santa Clause and even that is in danger of being not allowed.

I am not a christian, not an atheist either, but damnit, when are these pantywaist PC nuts going to stop telling everyone what to do? They are just as nuts as people who force their values on everyone else.

.

I agree. This costume should be completely banned...... That is, unless....

An illegal alien victim costume is also available, so that this whole issue is fair and balanced. The illegal alien victim costume should come complete with attachable anal probe.

There, that solves the problem. The illegal aliens are now jumping for joy.

maybe they should have put the name "Alien Joe" on the costume and "Citizen Bob" on the green card to also imply identity theft.

Er, that, my friend, would be inaccurate. Citizen Bob wouldn't have a green card because he's a citizen. Your scenario just doesn't add up...

It's a funny costume. Why would they be offended anyway? It's an illegal alien! The "tolerance" cops need to get a life.

Good catch. "Legal worker Jorge" then.

"Target is removing the costume from the site after receiving several complaints, company spokesman Joshua Thomas said Friday."

It is a sad sad world we live in.
