Not sure what the hell these parents are thinking. First on Larry King, and the very next day on the morning show rounds right away. Can you say, "Fatally starved for attention? Media whores?" The whole thing was spilled right away when the kid, who, was NOT in the balloon that floated all over the place and which sucked in the main stream media like a crack addict, spilled the beans and said "we did it for the show".

So the parents are possibly behind this hoax, and then when asked on the morning talk show rounds - when being asked about the question - has to walk off set and puke --- and then pukes ON camera, into a container while still sitting on dads lap and mom wipes his mouth.

How about THAT family entertainment? Don't you think if the kids sick... or getting sick, that one of the parents should not have the kid on camera after the first incident, and then just cancel the rest of the media whore engagements? WTF! These parents are seriously ****ed up and this clearly identifies a problem with our society - that feels it's worth almost anything to get their 15 minutes of fame and to hang onto it. Where the hell is social services? This is a teachable moment...

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The 6-year-old boy at the center of the runaway balloon saga got sick twice on national television when he and his father were asked during separate TV interviews what he meant about his comment that "we did this for a show."

Sheriff Jim Alderman says his investigators believe there was no hoax, but will seek a new interview with the family after the CNN broadcast to clarify the statement.

During an ABC interview, Falcon Heene (HEE'-nee) said Friday: "Mom, I feel like I'm going to vomit." He then left the room with his mother and could be heard gagging.

During a live interview on NBC shown simultaneously on Friday, Falcon threw up into a container when his father was answering the same question.

First off it wasn't a hoax from what I've read. The siblings of this boy said they saw him board the balloon, and even video footage shows it. They didn't seem him climb back out and go hide in the garage. If they didn't know it, it couldn't be a hoax.

I predict he will be the next Richard Branson, ballons and stupid jokes are his style to:)

if it wasn't a hoax, it was still incredibly irresponsible.

We weren't there, so I think that judgment is somewhat out of line.

And the parents going straight away to Larry King the same day... and then the full morning shows the next day. All responsible things do you think? Especially with a kid puking every time the question gets asked if it was all planned for the show?

Well I don't know about that, but I'm not surprised that sensationalists like King and the Today Show or whatever are chomping at the bit to cover this.

This turned out to be funny to me.

I was amazed as I watched this Saga unfold and I prayed that the little boy would be okay right up until I saw the size of the Balloon. Approximately 20x5 feet. At that point it was clear that there was no way in hell it was big enough to carry a more than between 5 and 10 lbs aloft. It takes 15 cubic feet of Helium to lift 1lb. I was surprised that Dad didn't know that let alone anyone else. Look how bid the good year Blimp has to be to lift just a few people and even at that it is near neutral buoyancy with only minor lift capabilities using the engines to help to gain lift and remain aloft.
This was less a hoax than it would have been had it not gotten away. Just think how the UFO nuts would have jumped on a story with a blurry video fo this thing hovering a few hundred feet above this Colorado town and the claims that it was a quarter mile wide.
I think the claims of HOAX are coming from people who feel stupid for not realizing it couldn't be real from the get go. It should tell everyone to stop and think before you go for the sensational story.

It was really funny and pathetic the way the 10 o'clock news covered the "southern california connection" (their words) to this story. They went to his former home in Burbank, got a former disgruntled landlord to talk for FIVE minutes about how the house was left in less than perfect condition when they moved out, another FIVE minutes about how he was such a horrible bad mean man and his kids shouldn't be with him. Then they spent 15 seconds at the very end stating that every other neighbor or person they spoke to said he loved his kids more than anything in the world and that he was a good father. THEN they reiterated what the disgruntled landlord said.

The media in this country is a friggin joke.

   Local news is particularly pathetic. Our tv newscasts are okay, and a few minutes per day of them are interesting ;) but our local paper is the lamest damn thing I've ever read.

Actually, there's kind of a free upstart few-pages-long daily that is actually interesting.

I have to revise my remarks due to the fact that my info was old. I've heard now that the boy let the cat out of the bag on TV. I was only aware of what the initial news stories said. Therefore it appears that it was in fact a true hoax.
