Interracial couple denied marriage license in La.

Come on! They don't need a marriage license to have "socially unnacceptable children".

What next? Abort all the mulattos for their own protection?
You didnt answer my question.

If this were a black man denying these two their marriage license.

There wouldn't even be a story... And that's ****ing outrageous.

What I love about complaints like this is that it's impossible to prove, because if such a thing happened, how would we know about it if it wasn't covered?

Oh, wait, the blogosphere would save us!

You have got to be kidding

No, I'm not -- believe it or not, Black people are as just capable of being as racist as whites.

Ofc Blacks are capable of being racist. Not everyone who is Black is racist however same for Whites, Asians etc.

And I was referring to the ban that prevents people thinking Black people can be racist. Talk about your conspiracies.

sorry, no. none of the jp's business.
So the welfare of the child is not a concern, nor of any interest to the state.
Why not?

Shhhhh! Dolt let THEM hear you say that!

How does the fact one parent is White and the other is Black affect a childs welfare?

You didnt answer my question.

No, it's not a legitimate concern in my eyes. This man is making excuses for the shortcomings of Southern society and calling them all backward, racist losers who can't set eyes on a mixed race child without going into shock. It's the most ridiculous excuse I've heard yet. Taken to its logical conclusion this "protect the children" thought process will lead to the careful selection of which couples will produce kids least likely to be picked on at school. No redhead parents, no fat parents, no short parents, no "social stigma" allowed at all if you want the privilege of reproducing.

Depending on the circumstances and based society in which he lives, the mulatto child might find life very difficult because of his mixed-breed ancestry -- easily to the point where he might have been better off not being born.

(This is, after all, an oft-used and therefore apparently legitimate justification for abortion)

Then the problem lies in the society he was born into
How bigoted and racist does a society have to be for a mixed race child to have a easier time 'not born' than living with a mixed ancestry.

Or rather the problem lies with people like you attempting to make excuses for this racist.

the child has not yet been born. that's why not. good lord. and the child's potential COLOR isn't any concern of the state, either.

Why should people let the bigotry of others prevent them from procreating?

the child has not yet been born.
Ok... so?
You can't retro-actively deal with the situation -- isnt it better to deal with it BEFORE it becomes an issue?

For the good of the child.
:doh

So you are advocating tolerance for bigots? Nice. So I'm guessing the same should go for all other minority groups who are discriminated against. They just shouldn't breed because their child could experience racial intolerance? Yeah, and it's quite obvious that the welfare of the child is your top concern in espousing this absurd viewpoint. :doh

What on earth makes you think that the absence of a marriage license will prevent an interracial couple from having children?

I guess we all need to learn to march in lock-step, and teach our children to do the same, so that we don't stand out.
