White House Escalates War of Words With Fox News - Political News - FOXNews.com

Calling Fox News "a wing of the Republican Party," the Obama administration on Sunday escalated its war of words against the channel, even as observers questioned the wisdom of a White House war on a news organization.

"What I think is fair to say about Fox -- and certainly it's the way we view it -- is that it really is more a wing of the Republican Party," said Anita Dunn, White House communications director, on CNN. "They take their talking points, put them on the air; take their opposition research, put them on the air. And that's fine. But let's not pretend they're a news network the way CNN is."

Wow what a bunch of morons that are working in this White House, Mrs. Dunn calling Fox News a Wing of the Republican Party. so I expect her and the White House to actually show proof that Fox receeve's any form of money from the RNC.

Got to love her comment "But let's not pretend they're a news network the way CNN is." Oh yea and CNN is such a Non Bias News Outlet hmmm. The real sad thing is this if you read the article allot of folks are questioning the White House on this.

But the best part of the story is at the end when Mrs. Dunn say's that Mr. Obama may or may not go on Fox News. Well ain't that special hell if I ran Fox News the first thing I would do Tonight in Prime Time is call out Mr. Obama and this White House, I would invite him onto Fox News and if he didn't want to come I would call him on by accusing him and this White House of being Cowards.

You're contradicting your own argument. Obama would only be a coward by not appearing on Fox News IF Fox News was indeed a partisan news network that would attack Obama.

Is Fox News a partisan news network that Obama should be afraid of being attacked by? He was a multitude of other networks that didn't attack him and just asked questions and reported the story in a professional manner.

It is probably going to be a bit of a mistake to be so explicit in their disdain for this station. The Bush administration also clearly favored Fox News, as they granted so many interviews, as they could expect to receive a more friendly treatment. The Bush administration criticized media outlets for, you know, distorting their arguments and so forth, but it was not as outright hostile towards one outlet as this administration. This strategy that was employed during the buildup of the last election could backfire, as they may offend too many, regardless of how many viewers of Fox News are already firmly set in the opposition camp.

Hmm really so why didn't he go on Fox News when he decide to do the Sunday Talk Shows sounds like a Coward to me.

I suggest you go and read the article and see how much the rest of the so-called News Outlets are Partisan Hacks Also.

The bottom line is this, this is a really stupid move by this White House, I thought Mr. Obama was for Hope and Change your calling this Hope and Change.

Very True The Bush White House didn't like MSNBC nor CNN but you never say them call them out or attack there White House Report like this White House has done with Fox News.

The more the White House escalates with Fox, a 24/7 news channel, the worse it will get for the White House. This is not a smart war, and shows the naiveté of Obama's Staff. The best thing Obama could do is go on to Fox - more so than any other liberal leaning stations or "friendly" stations.

There's a reason why the saying "You keep your friends close, and your enemies closer" is still around.

Now, that's not to say that maybe... Obama cannot answer or cannot have the pre-determined outcome on Fox, and therefore will not go on the station as it's not a sure thing. I'd lean more towards that than Obama being a Coward.

Coward implies Obama failed to battle against opposition. Is Fox News to be viewed as partisan opposition against Obama?

Then why didn't he go on Fox that Sunday when he went on every other Channel in my book that is ducking Fox News and show's me that he is a Coward. (My Personal Opinion)

I think it's bad business, here in the land of the free'est press in the world, to get into a pissing match with a certain news outlet. I think Krewe Obama would be so much better off if they just said, "We might not like what they say, but this is America and they have the right to say it".

Are the Republicans no longer the conservative party????

Because FNC is a conservative leaning news and editorial entertainment network. Its most popular programs are NEWS-BASED OPINION SHOWS... Um...

So, it's not really a 'News' network per say, more like 24-hr micheal moore network for conservatives and their party... THE REPUBLICAN PARTY...

You can parse words all day long, scorp. You know what she meant. It's clear to the rest of us. And, I think it's clear to you.

I completely agree. It lowers the administration to a disrespectful level in regards to PR decisions.

It makes it appear that the administration doesn't support free speech, as well.

I think that's a stretch. He isn't trying to suppress FoxNews freedoms in anyway. There are a alot of uncertainties with appearing on FoxNews. Who is overwhelming anti-Obama in it's "reporting". He has a right to choose which news networks he talks to. Just because he does an exclusive for one doesn't mean he has to do it for all. Though excluding FoxNews solely puts Obama in a bad light.

Again it's a failure in PR. His admin only wants him on stations that look at Universal Health Care in a positive or "on the fence" light. Fox News would need to spin the interview as a loss for Obama to not risk upsetting it's viewership. The same is MSNBC or CNN could never do a positive Bush or Cheney interview.

Not at all. Obama is smart for not letting them get away with their smears and lies.

The right-wing, FoxNews in particular, expect them not to fight back and allow the swift-boating to take place.

For too long, Democrats have allowed the lies to go unchecked and paid the price (John Kerry for one).

Its time that FoxNews and the right-wing smear machine get called out when they post the outright lies that they do.

Not directly, but it could appear that he's trying to intimidate, or punish FNC for reporting unflattering news about his administration.

I don't think they're, "anti-Obama", per-say, they just report the truth.

What is it that they lied about, exactly. Post the links for us.

I see a buncha whining, but no documented lies.

Just a difference of linguistic nomenclature. You say "whine" they say "lies". ;)

They document all the crap. You may have to weed through the Fox distortions, ommissions, airing of RNC talking points, presentation of non-facts as facts to find the lies.

Or, you could check out the WH blog where someone called out Glenn Beck lies and linked to a fact-checking place to check on More Fox Lies  (can't remember what that was, but Glenn Beck was so blatant, he was forced to retract whatever it was. :rofl)

Or, maybe you could just read Hannity, Beck, and Fox and Friends transcripts. I'm sure you could stumble across a few a week just doing that.

Fox News IS a propaganda joint. Why not just call it what it is? I think the WH is fine with this tactic. I might not have done it, but I don't care that they are doing it. When Bill Clinton smacked around Chris Wallace in Sept '06, and showed Democrats how to grow a spine, Dems started winning. When John Edwards started boycotting Fox News, and Dems wouldn't debate on Fox, everyone started paying attention to them. Sometimes a useful, blatant, propagandizing 'news' organization is an excellent punching bag to riff off of.

and what about the scumbags on the left who had a strangle hold on the tv before Fox? will you call them out too?

Ahh but here is the rub of it Mr. Bush went on both MSNBC and CNN didn't duck them once, as a matter of fact one of the better interviews with Mr. Bush was on MSNBC/NBC.

I'm sure you can find them cataloged here: News Hounds: We watch FOX so you don't have to.

Newshound is a ****ing joke nothing more then a Political Hack Website, hell if you like I can bring up the numbers from the article in this story to show how much CNN,MSNBC are Left Wing Bias or you can go and re-read the article.

Either way Mr. Obama is a Coward in my book.

how much better would Barry be, if he went on, an actual hard news show of Fox's and he held his own

better yet, has anyone watched O'Reilly's interviews with past candidates? He treats them with the respect their office deserves, and Interviews them. Just need to face the fire sometimes to show ones mettle (sp?)

Of course not, because they were all speaking the gospel.
