White House Escalates War of Words With Fox News

WHITE HOUSE BOASTS: WE CONTROL NEWS MEDIA

President Obama's presidential campaign focused on "making" the news media cover certain issues while rarely communicating anything to the press unless it was "controlled," White House Communications Director Anita Dunn disclosed to the Dominican government at a videotaped conference.

"Very rarely did we communicate through the press anything that we didn't absolutely control," said Dunn.

"One of the reasons we did so many of the David Plouffe videos was not just for our supporters, but also because it was a way for us to get our message out without having to actually talk to reporters," said Dunn, referring to Plouffe, who was Obama's chief campaign manager.

"We just put that out there and made them write what Plouffe had said as opposed to Plouffe doing an interview with a reporter. So it was very much we controlled it as opposed to the press controlled it," Dunn said.

Continued Dunn: "Whether it was a David Plouffe video or an Obama speech, a huge part of our press strategy was focused on making the media cover what Obama was actually saying as opposed to why the campaign was saying it, what the tactic was. … Making the press cover what we were saying."

White House boasts: We 'control' news media

maybe others have attempted the same, but none has ever been so dumb as to SAY it

she'd never admit this in front of an americian audience

no wonder the media are turning

the arrogance is exceeded only by the stupidity

no surprise her favorite philosopher is mao

How can you take back such an admission of media manipulation? Sounds like the balloon boy saying, we did it for the show.

When a war or conflict is going on Fox will be right on the front lines. For this they are the best!

Everything else they do amounts to a wheelbarrow of ****!

So the final conclusion equals:
FOX SUCKS!!!!

White House Escalates War of Words With Fox News - Political News - FOXNews.com

Calling Fox News "a wing of the Republican Party," the Obama administration on Sunday escalated its war of words against the channel, even as observers questioned the wisdom of a White House war on a news organization.

"What I think is fair to say about Fox -- and certainly it's the way we view it -- is that it really is more a wing of the Republican Party," said Anita Dunn, White House communications director, on CNN. "They take their talking points, put them on the air; take their opposition research, put them on the air. And that's fine. But let's not pretend they're a news network the way CNN is."

Wow what a bunch of morons that are working in this White House, Mrs. Dunn calling Fox News a Wing of the Republican Party. so I expect her and the White House to actually show proof that Fox receeve's any form of money from the RNC.

Got to love her comment "But let's not pretend they're a news network the way CNN is." Oh yea and CNN is such a Non Bias News Outlet hmmm. The real sad thing is this if you read the article allot of folks are questioning the White House on this.

But the best part of the story is at the end when Mrs. Dunn say's that Mr. Obama may or may not go on Fox News. Well ain't that special hell if I ran Fox News the first thing I would do Tonight in Prime Time is call out Mr. Obama and this White House, I would invite him onto Fox News and if he didn't want to come I would call him on by accusing him and this White House of being Cowards.
Wow big deal. :rofl

she lists her two "favorite political philosophers," including Communist Chinese leader Mao Tse-tung, whose draconian policies are blamed for the deaths of tens of millions of people.

She's all hot for Mousy-Dung.
I wonder if she has the hots for Castro, L'il Kim, Pol Pot and Milosovic too?
Perhaps she can go on Letterman and do her Top 10.
There are so many twisted leaders, I'd watch to find out what other nut cases make her list.

How long do we have to wait for a journalist to ask where The Obamer ranks in her list? Right up there with Mousy-Dung I suppose.

.

My attitude is....why should Repub Presidents be the only ones allowed to abuse Executive Branch authority when they are in power?.......If I was President I would threaten to pull Fox News' FCC licenses unless they register as the media arm of the GOP. :applaud

(then I suspend it anyway......Just for spite!) ;)

So should Obama do the same for MSNBC? yes or no will do.

Maybe this has been brought up...

The White House stopped providing guests to 'Fox News Sunday' after Wallace fact-checked controversial assertions made by Tammy Duckworth, assistant secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, in August. Dunn said fact-checking an administration official was "something I've never seen a Sunday show do."

"She criticized 'FOX News Sunday' last week for fact-checking -- fact-checking -- an administration official," Wallace said Sunday. "They didn't say that our fact-checking was wrong. They just said that we had dared to fact-check."

"Let's fact-check Anita Dunn, because last Sunday she said that Fox ignores Republican scandals, and she specifically mentioned the scandal involving Nevada senator John Ensign," Wallace added. "A number of Fox News shows have run stories about Senator Ensign. Anita Dunn's facts were just plain wrong."

Fox News senior vice president Michael Clemente said: "Surprisingly, the White House continues to declare war on a news organization instead of focusing on the critical issues that Americans are concerned about like jobs, health care and two wars. The door remains open and we welcome a discussion about the facts behind the issues."

So... The Obama is throwing this little fit because FNC had the audacity to fact check?

Someone correct me if I am wrong -- isn't that EXACTLY what a news organization is supposed to do?

White House Escalates War on Fox News
Monday, October 19, 2009

Senior Obama administration officials took to the airwaves Sunday to accuse Fox News of pushing a particular point of view and not being a real news network.

White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel told CNN that President Obama does not want "the CNNs and the others in the world [to] basically be led in following Fox."

Obama senior adviser David Axelrod went further by calling on media outlets to join the administration in declaring that Fox is "not a news organization."

"Other news organizations like yours ought not to treat them that way," Axelrod counseled ABC's George Stephanopoulos. "We're not going to treat them that way."

By urging other news outlets to side with the administration, Obama aides officials dramatically upped the ante in the war of words that began earlier this month, when White House communications director Anita Dunn branded Fox "opinion journalism masquerading as news."

On Sunday, Fox's Chris Wallace retorted: "We wanted to ask Dunn about her criticism, but, as they've done every week since August, the White House refused to make any administration officials available to 'FOX News Sunday' to talk about this or anything else."

The door remains open and we welcome a discussion about the facts behind the issues."

So...
FNC has the audacity to fact-check statements from The Obama's administration... and The Obama reacts by not making administration officials available to FNC -- and then follows up by 'encouraging' other news organization from 'following' FNC.

Is that a threat?

 Wow. Just wow.

Correct me if I am wrong -- isnt "fact checking" the very thing a news organization is SUPPOSED to do?

No a news source is supposed to be the mouthpiece of the Obama administration. FOX obviously did not get the memo.

Re: White House [continues to] Escalates War on Fox News

I guess the RNC now represents all conservatives and fact checking is I guess just a Republican ideal.

What's it say about an Administration that blacklists news organizations because they fact-check, and then warns other news organizations to not do the same?

It says they're small time -- this is something that may work in a Chicago district playing to a particular voter base, but looks sophomoric and silly on the national stage. Bottom line is, Fox ratings for their non-news is skyrocketing and they're biggest PR advocate?

The White House.

:rofl

Re: White House [continues to] Escalates War on Fox News

It's too bad that the Obama Administration doesn't realize that by giving attention to a single news network they only legitimize many of the things that are being said about them. One would think that a Presidential Administration would have far bigger fish to fry.

Fox News reporting on Fox News,,,,,hmmmmm

Nothing good.

Re: White House [continues to] Escalates War on Fox News

So...
FNC has the audacity to fact-check statements from The Obama's administration...

They 'fact check' the way Michael Moore does, from a certain point of view. It's mostly editorial with a right-leaning slant. Get over it, goobie...

and The Obama reacts by not making administration officials available to FNC -- and then follows up by 'encouraging' other news organization from 'following' FNC.

Now you're changing the facts.

The WH is encouraging other news outlets to not identify FNC as a true 'news' broadcaster... Which it isn't.

It's painful for FNC and its apologists to finally be called out on 'Fair and Balanced'--the most ironic slogan in the history of broadcasting...

Again, get over it.

Correct me if I am wrong -- isnt "fact checking" the very thing a news organization is SUPPOSED to do?

You're not wrong--just in denial about how Fox presents information.

Hannity/Beck are not fact-checkers... they are spin propagandists who present information from a certain point of view.

The FNC morning show is moronic--but rich housewives eat that crap up.

O'Reilly is right-of-center, sometimes embarrassed by his own network.

Greta married a scientologist.

They got caught promoting the tea-parties as their own... Jeez, how can you be so obtuse about this???

It's a tough pill to swallow, but you really should watch Outfoxed (with a grain of salt) to get better informed about what news is and isn't and how Fox operates....

You really sound pretty stupid when you run off at the mouth not knowing the history of the network and Roger Ailes.

Murdoch found an untapped market during the Clinton days and capitalized on it. Smart business and marketing. NOT NEWS!

Do you have anything of substance that refutes the story, or are you just going to bash FNC?

Yes... I'll 'get over' an Administration blacklisting a news organization for doing its job.

Keep drinking that kool-aid.

You don't find it odd Fox News reporting on Fox News? I'd have a problem with any news organization reporting on it self in this manner.

They are putting an editorial, propaganda outlet in it's place.

The WH is open to dealing with real journalists.

I do feel bad for the handful of honest news people who do work at Fox. But they've had years to call out the obvious bias coming from their network.

O'Reilly and Shep show the occasional sparks of integrity, but sadly go back to silence or singing the company song.

The only kool-aid is being served at Tea Parties, goobie.

BTW--that 'drinking the kool-aide' come back died six months ago.

I'm not bashing I'm just questioning the objectivity of a news organization reporting on itself.
