They did. HotAir is full of hot air.
They did? News to me. You got a little evidence to back that up? :2wave:

It is an arm of the RNC...They just won't admit it!...Get it!?!?
Joe Wilson is a bigot...He just won't admit it...get it?!?
(ask someone to explain it to you)

RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it." Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.
...So far, the only winner in this latest dispute seems to be Fox News. Ratings are up 20 percent this year, and the network basked for a week in the antagonism of a sitting president
It could all be written off as a sideshow, but it may present a genuine problem for Mr. Obama, who took great pains during the campaign to depict himself as being above the fray of over-heated partisan squabbling. In his victory speech he promised, “I will listen to you, especially when we disagree...”
I’ve Changed My Mind on the Obama-Fox Showdown
by Michael Wolff
(snip ... ) So I am revising my theory of what the Obama administration is doing in its frontal assault on Fox: I think they want us to take sides. Are you a Fox person or not a Fox person? And I think they want to identify Fox as the standard bearer of American conservatism. If you’re a conservative, you’re for Fox (ie, is that who you want to be?).
They are going to combine this triangulation with their passing of a health care bill. I think they believe that, once this has been passed, to have opposed it will be like opposing Social Security.
Hence, Republicanism = conservatism = Fox = rabid opposition to an incredibly popular piece of legislation = hopeless marginalization = new liberal consensus.

I’ve Changed My Mind on the Obama-Fox Showdown
Why is the White House Attacking Fox?
October 20th, 2009 at 1:12 pm by David Frum
Michael Wolff has a sharp theory: (snip ... ) It’s a perfect convergence: What is good for Fox is good for Obama, and what is good for Obama is good for Fox, and their mutual victim is the Republican party.

Fox And The White House, Hand In Hand
David Frum and Michael Wolff explain.
Whatever else they are, Barack Obama and Roger Ailes are not dumb. And this war helps both.

I think it is rather simple to see, even without all the hyper partisan, and quasi liberals like David Frum to tell us. And that is that the Obama administration doesn't like the attention paid to them in a negative light when facts about their communist appointees are laid out there in the public domain, so they marginalize, and demonize, in an attempt to destroy them. All wrapped up with a not so veiled threat of 'watch what happens to Fox, you don't want the same do you?'
They are the school ground bullies.

Not a one of those people are hyperpartisan, and David Frum is not a quasi, or any kind, of liberal. Obama gets much more damaging negative criticism from his own side. If that is what it was about, he'd set his sights on the side that can damage him; not on the side that didn't vote for him, and won't next time around.
Negative criticism isn't a problem.
Lies and hypocrisy are.
Besides, they said they will deal with Fox in the future, but won't pretend they're dealing with a news organization.
And they're not, they're dealing with an organization that has an agenda, and has called themselves the opposition.
Funny stuff, that.
Yeah, so? They are still going to be asked tough questions.....Are they going to continue to attack anyone that gets in their way? This just isn't good for you demo's. Trust me.
I'm distraught at the demeanor of this administration that broke a promise of hope & change and transparency, characteristic of a lack of disconnect with the American people. A President, who has comprised his campaign promises should elevate above the fracas and to embody all Americans, regardless of political affiliation. The arrogant, self centered behavior demonstrated by the Obama administration will steer a path of civil discourse in the political spectrum and ultimately implode at the heart of our great country. The Obama Administration, guilty of adhering and championing ideas from the book 'Rules for Radicals" that brought them into power. Saul Alinsky, a Marxist, author of the handbook is in this case are manifest and solely directed at #1 ranked Fox News.
msnbc's olbermann and chris (HA!) matthews anchor election and debate nites (before they got fired)
msnbc, abc, cbs, nbc, cnn refuse to recognize van jones as news
only fox covers the green energy czar who signs truther petitions and blames columbines only on whites
the white house obviously felt jones was news, they fired him within the week
only fox finds newsworthy the communications director who brags her admin "controls" news so as to avoid "talking to reporters" and admires mao as her model
only fox reports on the science czar who once authored a book recommending forced sterilization, the safe schools czar who advises teens to use condoms before they rendevous with restroom pedophiles, the regulatory czar who favors banning hunting and allowing fido to sue his owners
only fox airs videos of obama's parent organization fraudulently finagling home loans for folks who tell em they're for brothels of child prositution
no wonder obama and his supporters despise fox
most revealing
From this morning’s gaggle in White House press secretary Robert Gibbs’ office:
Tapper: It’s escaped none of our notice that the White House has decided in the last few weeks to declare one of our sister organizations “not a news organization” and to tell the rest of us not to treat them like a news organization. Can you explain why it’s appropriate for the White House to decide that a news organization is not one –
(Crosstalk)
Gibbs: Jake, we render, we render an opinion based on some of their coverage and the fairness that, the fairness of that coverage.
Tapper: But that’s a pretty sweeping declaration that they are “not a news organization.” How are they any different from, say –
Gibbs: ABC -
Tapper: ABC. MSNBC. Univision. I mean how are they any different?
Gibbs: You and I should watch sometime around 9 o’clock tonight. Or 5 o’clock this afternoon.
Tapper: I’m not talking about their opinion programming or issues you have with certain reports. I’m talking about saying thousands of individuals who work for a media organization, do not work for a “news organization” -- why is that appropriate for the White House to say?
Gibbs: That’s our opinion.
This is a brilliant move by the Whitehouse. Obama said, during his speech before the joint session of congress, that he would start "calling people out" if they interject a bunch of nonsense into the public debate while grown folks are discussing business. Fox is so rabidly right-wing that any neutral observer will quickly reach the same conclusion Obama did. Now, anyone citing Fox News as a source will be immediately discredited and even if Fox gets more viewers they will definitely have less believers. Great Move Obama!!!
abc's white house correspondent jake tapper today takes on gibbs over the fox war:
Today?s Qs for O?s WH ? 10/20/2009 - Political Punch
such sophistry is head spinning
no one ever said only fox tells the truth
when it comes to the czars, maybe
but when it comes to the fox war, almost everyone is telling the truth
everyone, that is, except the white house
and its supporters
If only Obama could show this kind of resolve and clarity as it concerns Afghanistan...
When it's only Fox telling the truth about the czars ... it's far more likely Fox is carrying on political propaganda. Journalism's a highly competitive business. Your Tapper guy would be all over it - if there was news in it.
Fox = propaganda, and Foxies like it just like that.
Can't say Tapper's not tough .... but since he doesn't work for Fox, kinda diminishes the theory that only Fox is telling ya the truth
