Obama reaffirms will end "Don't ask Don't tell"

This might be Obama's lone accomplishment while in office.

That, and winning the Nobel Peace Prize and the Heisman Trophy.

I don't think he's going to be able to abolish DADT, so the Nobel and the Heisman are going to be all his accomplishments.

It could interpreted as a sexual advance.

How so? There's nothing to suggest a sexual advance by merely being open about your sexual orientation. Anyone who would get offended by such a thing would have be incredibly insecure and paranoid.

Yes I can see were the fear would arise that one's penis might be involutarily thrust into a fellow soldiers ass.

Yeah, it's called, "rape". Happens all the time.

You're probably right -- The Obama needs to get Congress to do it, and that's nowhere near a certainty.

I've always disagree with the Army's sexual harrassment policies, but the military is under alot of pressure from the government, more pressure than any other government agency and certainly more presure than civilian jobs. It's nuts. That's why I've always been a proponent of all female/male units. If males and females didn't serve together, then alot of that BS would go away and we could get down to soldier'n. That's what they're there for, to soldier, not worry about looking at a female the wrong way and getting smacked with some crazy sexual harrassment charge.

So, let's forget about gay issues for a moment... What would it take to reasonably redefine what SH is all about? I mean making a pass is not SH. Neither is making a suggestive comment. "I'll spank your ass" variety. But verbally harrassing a female about what you are going to do to her if you catch off-post would be some sort of crime, though not necessarily SH. Physically groping would be. Then how do you prove it? What is the standard of proof now? Her accusation is probably enough, right? That's gotta change too. What do you think? It's a tricky problem.

If someone interprets that comment as a sexual advance, then expect to get charged with sexual harrassment. That person's insecurity and paranoia is irrelevant. There's no regulation against insecurity, or paranoia, but there's damn sure a very vague and ambiguous definition of sexual harrassment.

He can't pull it off and neither can Congress. If it was that easy, they would have already done it.

No, he'll pass healthcare. - I don't want to take this thread OT, though...

In my experience, all those things would be blatant sexual harrassment, in the Army. I can't speak for the other branches, but in the Army, those comments will definitely get your ass in a crack, if a female soldiers is suddenly offended by it.

That's exactly right.

Most imnportantly, it will likely not get the 60 votes in the Senate.

Rape is when you recieve the penis not when you give it..because of closeted desires that are triggered due too a openly gay man taking a shower with them in a community shower.

The paranoia and overall fear of such a devopement must be overwhelming...don't you agree?

Especially when you consider that there are more Dems who are combat vets than Republicans.

Please explain why Army policy needs congressional approval and not merely the instructions of the commander in chief?

If that is can be interpreted as sexual harassment and taken seriously then there are a plenty of non-sexual things that could be interpreted as sexual harassment. It's a very slippery slope.

You can throw the homophobe argument out there all you like, but it jut don't work like that in the military.

So how would you change SH if you could?

You're absolutely right. There are many non-sexual acts that, in the Army, are interpreted as sexual harrassment. Simply helping a female do her job, just because she's a female, is considered sexual harrassment. Holding the door open for a female soldier can be considered sexual harrassment, especially if she out-ranks you.

Please show a case where this has happened. I think you are talking out your ass on this. Nothing in all the classes I took on this topic in the military suggested anything like that would be sexual harassment.

The hell it doesn't...Without homophobes there would be no arguement.

Haven't gay men served in the Navy for decades now, I don't see the big deal here, seems the people have settled this long ago?

DADT is part of the UCMJ, not the rules and regulations as described in the Constitution.

A couple of them blew each other up on the Iowa, too. Remember that?
