GOP Fails to Remove Rangel

What is wrong with this is the hypocrisy being shown. Mark Foley was not convicted of anything. Neither was Tom Delay. Yet the Dems were more than happy to DEMAND their immediate loss of all leadership positions, etc. even before charges were filed.

They should at least be consistent and demand the same level of personal responsibility as they demanded from Republicans.

Yes... both are angels.

If you think it's just the left that are a bunch of hypocrites, then I have to ask the following. Were you in a coma for the last eight years?

I agree! The opposite should hold true as well. Ensign said that Clinton should resign because of his affair with Monica Lewinsky. I don't see him imposing that on himself, do you?

Don't forget those who screamed for Spitzer to leave office, but nary a peep for Vittner.

We're evil, Middleground. ;)

Let me get even more evil.

Did you know that the press favoured Vittner's affair with hooker over Spitzer's affair with hookers by 13 to 1??? :2razz:

Damn right media bias!!!!

Can you tell me why Delay stepped down?
My bet is you can't.
I bet you haven't a clue why he was smiling in the photo either.

If I remember correctly... The R's had a rule that someone in the leadership charged... charged with a crime had to step down. Dumb rule when you deal with miscreants on the other side who have judges, like the one in TX ready to play dirty.

In honorable society the R's rule would work... but with miscreants... no.

Now... now about that Rangel rascal. You don't think this guy should be removed and charged with criminal conduct?
Or do the laws not apply to Sir Charles?
I guess if Tax Evader Geithner stays, so can Sir Charles.

Because he is an arrogant prick.

Congrats. Note the "Charged" bit. Plus it is only from leadership positions. There is nothing that says that the person should leave his seat. Hence Delay stayed in office despite being charged. And Ney stayed in office despite being convicted. And yes Delay is still innocent because he has yet to be proven guilty, but he is also still charged for crimes but has not had his day in court.. yet.

LOL what an excuse. Blame the judge in a state where Delay rewrote electoral boundaries to make sure Republicans won districts.. sure..

You mean the "honarable" society of Bush's 8 years? Abaramof ring a bell? Or are you going to blame the judge there too? Or how about Cunningham? Or are you going to blame the prosecutor that Bush fired for convicting Cunningham? That you seriously can put the word "honarable" with Republican is mind boggling... I cant even do it with Democrats.. makes me laugh like mad.

Now... now about that Rangel rascal. You don't think this guy should be removed and charged with criminal conduct?

Sure, if there is a case that a prosecutor can bring forward. You do know that despite 8 years of right wing rule, the principle of "innocent till proven guilty" still exists in the US right? Delay lives under that rule, so why not Rangel?

Or do the laws not apply to Sir Charles?

Of course they do. And that law says, "innocent till proven guilty"

I guess if Tax Evader Geithner stays, so can Sir Charles.

I raise you a tax dodger Palin.

I've hated Rangel for years because he kept introducing proposals for a military draft.
I don't really know anything else about him.

This is one of those many "icky" threads for the liberals.

I don't know about that. Could be b/c people didn't want to read (what was bound to be) a long, numbered list. I know that's why I didn't open it, until there was nothing to read cuz the board is totally dead, being a Saturday and the board was down for a bunch of time.

That said, I have said for a long time that Rangel should step aside from his chairmanship. I heard Lawrence O'Donnell and Joe Scarborough speculate on Friday morning that the Dems aren't forcing it, cuz they don't want the number 2 guy (is it Pete Stark? can't remember) to take the chair of Ways and Means. I don't care, I think Rangel shouldn't hold such a committee chairmanship with such a cloud over his shoulder.

That said, I also don't think he actually committed any crimes. Lots of people make tax errors. Who knows, I could be wrong, but either way, while such investigations are going on, the guy should not be in charge of the freaking tax writing committee !!

His calls for a military draft were because he thought the privileged lawmakers in Congress wouldn't be so careless about going to war if more of them had blood in the battle.

I invite you to produce similar examples (not fantasies,) of such recent behavior from the Republicans, and a concerted attempt by that party to shield the perpetrator from removal from committees, or prosecution. The clock is running . . GO!

tom delay---LOL!

all the hammer does these days is shake his booty

dp argues history

very few americans are historians

too abstuse

rangel is the most corrupt player in washington

today

the APPEARANCE of impropriety should suffice

and the oily slickster does a lot more than merely appear greasy

he's a self admitted con

keep him where he is, by all ways and means

his replacement would signify no change in policy

as chair of the most powerful committee in the capitol rangel is a poster boy

good for the dems, more power to em
