There shall be no cupcakes. No chocolate cake and no carrot cake. According to New York City’s latest regulations, not even zucchini bread makes the cut.

In an effort to limit how much sugar and fat students put in their bellies at school, the Education Department has effectively banned most bake sales, the lucrative if not quite healthy fund-raising tool for generations of teams and clubs.

How ridiculous.

Wow... the liberals have gone mad.

Surely there are better ways to fight obesity than stupid **** like this.

That's a poor reason to ban that stuff.

A much better reason is due to unsanitary conditions in preparation. Anyone who's had a tenant who has rented for years knows that often the people live like pigs. My folks had a tenant who we rented to for nearly a decade. When we went to clean out that house, the sheer number of roaches was amazing. I didn't eat for a week after being grossed out like that. Cleaning the appliances alone should have given me a degree in Entomology.

God knows how many people like that tenant exist and are bringing home made treats to schools.

Don't forget about those jokers who like to bake and share marijuana brownies.

I had a few friends in college that did that. I never ate any home made food they offered me. I know what goes on in the kitchens of pigs and college tokers. Hence why I'm not against this ban on those grounds.

As for that tenant, when my older brother and I saw how bad it was, he was even more grossed out as we apparently ate some of their baked goods they brought with the rent years ago. Luckily, I don't remember that. And our tenants had kids that went to the local public school. If they made baked goods for my folks....they likely made for the school.

Imagine a kitchen like the ones you see on Discovery Verminators:

Now, you want your kids eating food or selling it made in a kitchen like that?

Even back when I worked in a corporation and we had those stupid parties and "let's bring goodies in tomorrow days" I would never eat anything that someone new made or if I did not see a long track record of cleaniless from that person.

Even these days when I see a bake sale and if I like the group or cause I will just donate a few bucks and tell tel that I am on a diet or that my wife is a biabetic ( she actually is ) and tell them to keep the goodes.

After all who needs cat hair flavored browmies.

The cat hair is really the least of your potential problems. For the most part, kitties, especially indoor house cats are relatively clean. I can't say that for rats, roaches, mice and ants. And if you have lots of insects, odds are you probably have lizards (if you live in a somewhat tropical area). And these lizards are known for carrying all sorts of bacteria and viruses. And if you have lots of those, odds are you aren't cleaning your kitchen or sanitizing it. So you are also at risk for bacteria contamination in addition to all of the beasties carried by the various vermin infestation.

Some school districts across the US have already banned home made goods. There's a reason why states do not allow people who run food stands to make the food at non-inspected sites. Interesting why we don't often apply the same standards to our children.
