U.S. demands concrete steps from Iran - Yahoo! News

GENEVA (Reuters)

The United States said on Thursday six-power talks with Iran had opened the door to a possible deal over its nuclear program but cautioned Tehran it must take concrete steps to prove it was not seeking nuclear arms.

Both the United States and Iran said Geneva talks between Tehran and the P5 + 1 powers -- the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China -- were productive and agreed the contacts would be resumed by the end of the month.

In what appeared a significant gesture, a senior U.S. official said Iran had agreed 'in principle' to allow its uranium to be sent to Russia for further processing. This would then be returned to Iran in a form suitable for use in a reactor but not of a purity necessary for a bomb.

Well this is good news. I don't know the technical details to know if this is sufficient, but it is a real step in the right direction.

Sounds like a start, but I'd also want to see another party inspect what Russia sends back.... not that I don't trust the Russians....:doh

I would consider that appropriate.

You can't possibly be agreeing with me.... could you?

It happens. I don't agree or disagree with people or parties, I agree or disagree with ideas.

Thank God.... I thought you were getting sweet on me. :3oops:

I would be quite cautious. Iran's actions over time will determine how it should be judged.

After all, bearing in mind the North Korea signed an Agreed Framework in 1994 to abandon its nuclear activities and then secretly resumed its illicit nuclear activities just a few years later.
