Praying to Obama

Firstly, the lack of collective knowledge, interest, and discussion surrounding the event despite it's being 9 days away. No media discussion for something that's unprecedented and rather historic.

NASA has lots of missions that no one cares about. That's nothing new.

Second, I think there's a ton of ramifications for this type of act which warranted addressing/discussing. We're essentially launching a rocket into the moon. That, in my mind, constitutes a weapon in space and modifying a celestial body - both of which I bet we'd have a problem with if any other country was doing it.

It isn't a weapon. No one lives on the moon and there are no structures to destroy. Furthermore, the rocket is consumed during the explosion, so it's not like we can use this rocket as a base with which to attack future moon settlements or earth nations.

Since India has just this month proven there is in fact water on the moon there is no need for a destructive rocket attack against the planet.

If I'm not mistaken, that just happened a few days ago. This rocket was launched in June. What exactly do you want them to do...call off an expensive mission that's already in progress, just because someone beat them to the punch by a few days? If nothing else, it will provide independent confirmation to the Indians' claim, which is always good.

What exactly are the potential negatives? Is the moon going to blow up, or move off it's orbit path and crash into Earth, or get pissed and do something bad back to us?

Now that I realize what LCROSS is does everyone understand that the explosive charge to be used is very very small and will propbably make only a foot crater or so ? We are not talking Mega Tons here people just a minor small little booom boom!!

Um, no. Not a foot. More like a football field.

Hey Talloulou, when you can, take a pair of binoculars or a telescope and check out the moon. See all those round things? Those are craters much larger than a football field...

Yup Thanks That was a missing typo on my part. I thought I heard 100-300 foot hole or so. Still that should not knock the man in the moon off his rocker...

Here's another one the blind Liberal followers/disciples of Obama are going to love. Praying to the false Messiah fits into the ignorance that has been shown of Obama followers. Take Obama the brilliant one off the teleprompter and he he gets as stupid those who pray to him.

Dear Obama give me the strength to resist your foolish Socialist/Communist plans and the wisdom to slap down verbally any Liberal who gets in the way.

There, acting as what the Ames team calls its "shepherding spacecraft," LCROSS will guide an empty Centaur rocket weighing two tons toward its target. The rocket will crash into the crater at 5,600 mph, creating a new crater - perhaps as large as 5 miles wide. The crash is scheduled to occur Oct. 9.

Scientists on Earth expect the impact to blast out a huge cloud of dust, gas and vaporized water ice at least 6 miles high.

More like 26,400 feet.

Yes and none of them were created the way we're about to create one. By thrusting a rocket directly into the moon at an incredibly steep angle to create a plume so big it can be seen with a cheap telescope.

You really need to stop holding back and tell all that you feel. Open up a bit don't surpress your feelings about our president because if you do it will only make you bitter, stressed out, frustrated, retarded, and that may cause some form of an internal disease. Just let it out. Tell us what you think.

I actually heard this story the other night when I was up sick and listening to some radio show called Cost To Cost or Coaster to Coaster I think it's the same show that talks about UFO's , IPO's etc. so I did not give the talk show drones much credit after I heard some Palookha say that he knew that ET's had bases on the dark side of the moon. I was too sick to really comprehend the drones so I did not all of the story. So thanks!!

They where all created in roughly this manner.

You're right, most of them were created by much more powerful (and natural) methods. Sorry, but you are whining about nothing.

how did this debate get on the moon?

Good grief. Disturbing. Not exactly breaking news though. I've now decided the whole health care debate is a distraction tactic to keep us dumb tards busy so nobody gets it in their head to protest or even talk about the LCROSS mission.

it wasn't even my fault this time.

First of all, there's really not much difference between a rocket and an asteroid in terms of the impact. Second of all, I'm still not seeing what is so controversial about this. It isn't a military project, it's a scientific project.
