Reporting from Washington - The House Ethics Committee is investigating Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Los Angeles), who has come under scrutiny because of her husband's ties to a bank that received federal bailout funds.

The panel's chairwoman and ranking member announced the committee was extending by 45 days a determination on whether it would conduct a more thorough review of Waters' conduct, but they declined to say what was being investigated. Waters, one of Los Angeles' most enduring liberal politicians, also declined to comment.

Word of the investigation came as the committee announced that it was delaying an inquiry into whether Rep. Jesse L. Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) or his representatives tried to secure the Senate seat vacated by President Obama by promising to raise campaign cash for disgraced former Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich. The panel cited an ongoing federal investigation in Chicago.

I have a hunch that it is about to become terribly fashionable for Dems to be seen prosecuting, investigating, probing, condemning and otherwise distancing themselves from other Dems.

Thanks ACORN!

The fact that this even made the L.A. Times is news in itself! I was surprised recently when New Orleans' William Jefferson finally was tried and convicted of numerous crimes. Jefferson's situation, like that of Louisiana's former governor Edwin Edwards, was dragged out for years and many of us in these parts were beginning to bet against a conviction (in both cases). I wonder if Pelosi is vulnerable to fail an investigation, or perhaps she has covered her butt well as she legislates to make her husband's business very profitable.

Lotta smoke out there... hope someone finds the fires!

It's like a dream come true. I've hated her for damn near ever. Maybe they'll lock her up and throw away the key. Although, I have to say -if being 100% honest - I doubt she could mastermind any crime or conspiracy. I truly believe she's dumber than a doorknob.

I can remember the running joke in SW Louisiana that we should put a betting line on Edward's chances for conviction, 2:1 Edwards, 10:1 AG, and 5:1 Feds, I too was surprised when he got busted, he was almost as slick as the Longs.

That's an insult to doorknobs everywhere, at least they can do their jobs correctly when you give them a little help.

I can only hope this is more than lip service with a slap on the wrist. I will believe it is serious when I see censure or criminal charges leveled.

This woman is another shining example of the complete morons Californians send to represent them in Congress. We train these morons in Sacramento and then send them to F everything up at the Federal level after they have F'd everything up here.

Corruption should be a bipartisan issue, with any accusation of possible corruption investigated and prosecuted. Thank you for trying to make it highly partisan. It's attitudes like yours that makes this country less than it could be.

I am curious how anyone can make such an absurd comment of the OP.

Again, where was all this selective outrage when Democrats demagogued their political opponents for the last eight years.

Here's a clue for you self proclaimed "independents" and "moderates," the bar was lowered by Democrats who constantly attacked their political opponents in the court of public opinion empowered by a media that has become less inclined to hide its bias.

When you only complain about one side doing it, it becomes specious that you are to be taken serious.

This country spent the last eight years denigrating an Administration because the media run by Liberals and Democrats in congress motivated by political victory engaged in false hyperbole, demagoguery and inflammatory partisan rhetoric.

Now suddenly the opposition must remain silent and act civil and forget the outrageous behavior of the likes of Barney Franks, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, dingy Harry, Dick "the turban" Durbin and Leahy?

It begs the question why? This administration contrary to its hyperbolic claims has been the most divisive in recent memory; there is ZERO bi-partisanship versus the previous administration and even their own members are looking at this looming disaster of a Presidency and starting to jump ship.

Spare me the desperate attempt to moderate your selective outrage and equally selective memory.

Hell most liberals freely admit Waters is a bug ass crazy lunatic.

Well that would be interesting considering the fact that she chairs The U.S. House Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing and Community Opportunity, sits on four other committees, is Chief Deputy whip of her caucus and a Super Delegate.

For a crazy ass lunatic, Democrats certainly have given her a lot of responsibility. Why would they do that if they REALLY believed this?

I have not seen any Liberal freely admit this. :;shrugs::

There are a few hundred liberals in the federal government, there are 10's of millions of liberals in the country. This is a complicated point, I know, but just because some one is a chair of a subcommittee in Washington(something almost all of us have no control over) does not mean that most liberals have no use for her. If she is guilty of ethics violations, I have no use for her.

When did I become an independent or moderate?

And can you really spare those clues, you need them for yourself pretty badly.

Please share with me one issue Maxine takes on that Liberals disagree with then? Forget the "alleged" violation, that isn’t what Tallou and I were talking about before you jumped in.

I will wait. :2wave:

When did I become an independent or moderate?

When did I accuse you of being one? Are you a self proclaimed Moderate/Independent?

I see you have difficulty with comprehension and subtleties.

And can you really spare those clues, you need them for yourself pretty badly.

Once again you have difficulty distinguishing false hyperbolic partisan rhetoric and factually criticizing a President for his employment and economy busting policies.

You are free to show where any of my criticisms of Obama are not supported by me with the FACTS rather than the typical empty headed bile Liberals used with Bush.

The comment was in a reply to my post. Can't imagine why I would think it was addressed to me...

I simply returned your insult.

I do not believe most liberals would be in favor of nationalizing the oil industry for one. The "stop VULTURE' act died in congress, which was proper and was stupid act that she sponsored. Do I need to go on?

It's a start...

When will they get to Chris Dodd, John Murtha, Charlie Rangal, Barney Frank, and Nancy Pelosi?

.

I disagree; I think a vast majority of Liberals would indeed support the idea of nationalizing the oil companies. Nancy Pelosi, the leader of the House and third in command would lead the charge.

But do go on.

Fascinating, I never even thought that you had insulted me; I am struggling to see where I insulted you.

You should stop telling liberals what they believe. You cannot help but look foolish.

I am not telling Liberals what they believe, I am sharing what I hear them saying.

Of course, you are free to prove me wrong with something more credible than your typical strawman. :2wave:

Nationalized Oil To Fund Climate Change Efforts
The New York Times - Breaking News, World News & Multimedia

“If we’re going to give corporations the same rights as people,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, “then we need to hold them accountable like people. When parents abuse their children, the government takes over. When oil companies abuse the planet, the government needs to take over too.”

You replied to Redress' post and used this line:

This seems like an odd aside to jump into in the middle of posting a response to someone else's post. Hence, the confusion.

It is my way of expressing my views that are directed to more than just the poster in question; I can't imagine how that is unclear.

But alas, when you read things INTO statements rather than comprehending their meaning, I can see how this would occur.

But it again begs the question; is there a point to this?

Here's an example, since you're failing to grasp a simple concept:

(I'll address your post):

It's unclear because it was an aside that originated without a segue.

(Now I will do what you did):

The problem with you self-proclaimed racists is that you are ignorant bigots who think white people are better than minorities.

This is why your post was misunderstood by Redress. Post more clearly in the future. K thx.
