Charles Darwin film 'too controversial for religious America'

I only watched the first one because Audrey Tautou was in it.

Same here! She's so hot.

I thought the movie itself was a failure, especially the casting of Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon. The only part of the movie I did enjoy was the cross over scenes between the old and new worlds (Newton's funeral). I thought those were done well in contrast to the rest of the movie. I did think Paul Bettany depicted Silas perfectly, at least my interpretation of him.

She is one beautiful little cookie. Amelie Poulin est magnifique!

Oh I loved Amelie! Jean-Pierre Jeunet is a genius!! If you liked Amelie, do yourself a favor and check out the films Delicatessen and City of the Lost Children.

If Hollywood were to ever commit the cardinal sin of remaking Breakfast at Tiffany's, the only thing that would possibly redeem it is casting her as Holly Golightly. She is a modern day Audrey Hepburn.

The comments were obviously made by someone who has a very stereotypical view of American culture. When your film is most likely too crappy to get good distribution, it's often easier to blame something else entirely rather than looking at yourself.

Yes. Ask Oasis. :2razz:

Because it's not why Jesus was put on Earth.
That doesn't mean it couldn't occur. He could have still accomplished his goal and take a wife.

I'm not saying it did happen. I'm just saying it would have no negative impact on his divinity. Unless of course there is something sinful with loving someone, getting married and having children.

The iconography and symbolism of Jesus' divinity has him already taking the Church itself as a bride. That is because Jesus is the Word of God, the Ark of the Covenant made flesh.

How about the Biblical view of marriage being one of two people becoming one, and as such, Mary Magdelene (or any other wife) would then have become of God?

The problem isn't "accomplishing his goal." The problem is with who he was.

Why don't you try reading further on before you start with the snarky, smartassed comments, pal?

You only talked about the last temptation of christ I asked you about Angels & Demons

I think you need to go back and keep reading.

Wait, now I remember. You're that guy. Yeah, don't bother responding to me. I have no interest in a conversation with you. I've seen the extent of your interactions and, frankly, I'm just not interested.

So your complaint is that there were some bad people who tried to do stuff in the name of the church. How exactly does that Bash the church? Plenty of movies have bad people doing stuff in the name of the government yet they aren't bashing the government. The church came out on top in both movies and looking good. I'd say The passion of the Christ "bashed" the hebrew faith more than either the DVC or A&D "bashed" the church. But then again I was applying your standard

If the literal interpretation is true then yes. Mary would also then become a man, or vice versa.

It's a spiritual union, not a physical one. That's not at all unclear.

Wonder when this would come up here. And it is distribution to tv, DVD and movie theatres btw.. and that is the problem.
