Tens of thousands attend broad protest of government in nation's capital

And yet those numbers surpassed war protests, the million man march, and the million mom march against the second amendment........hmm, interesting.

Yeah, interesting is the fact millions came back to life, and felt passionate enough to travel far and wide, taking time off of work, away from family and friends etc., costing mucho dollars, to spend countless hours standing in a massively crowded group of other individuals with the same passions. Yeah, interesting!

Had it been possible, I would've been there as well, protesting what the powers that be are doing to America. And every damn American, who enjoys living in America, should've been there as well.

This country is being taken in a direction it should not be manueved into. We are loosing our right to bear arms. Our freedom. Our right to assemble. Our right to free speech. And yet, many of you sit there, running your mouths, contributing nothing but negative static, waiting and hoping for the day when America will finally fall and become one of the more controlling gov'ts the world offers...socialism. Totaltarism. Fascism. Communism....Take your pick, as we're headed towards every single one of them. How long will it take to reach communism? 10 years? 20 years? 30? Ask any average citizen that has lived under such a rule as to whether or not they loved it. If they loved those types of rule, they would not have struggled to move to America, the land of the FREE. Otherwise, what would've been the point of leaving their own countries to come here?

Is a country ruled as one of those what you want? Would you be happy then? How about your children? Your grandchildren? And on and on.....Would they be proud that we, the people let this all happen? Or would they be pissed as hell at all of us?

Are you serious?

What "right to bear arms" has been lost?

What "right to assemble" has been lost?

What "right of free speech" has been lost?

And who are these "millions" that you are talking about :doh

How are you "Losing" your right to bear arms, your right to free assembly, your right to free speech?

I think its official....the "party of no" is becoming the "party of paranoia"

meh, like I said before, there are many like me, who agree with the sentiment of the protest, but who would only protest, under extreme duress, and then, from the rooftops with a high caliber rifle.

Getting a bunch of jobless dirty hippies to a war protest easy.

Getting 60k right and lbertarians to anything like this. simply astounding.
As though the entire population including babies, elderly bedridden and others similar could show up in DC for a protest; not to mention the entire left that wouldn't show up. Do these people have any clue how to count?

There are certainly those that are trying to take away our rights. I didn't say there were gone, yet. I said we were loosing them, meaning, they are being messed with, which is why they are messing with the constitution... And that goes for all the other rights. Now draw your own conclusions... I've read that it was actually closer to two million that marched and not the tens of thousands that the media has said.... so if I'm wrong, then I stand corrected.

The socialist party of America is becoming the communist party of America.

And by the way... it's not the party of NO.... it's the party of HELL NO.

I prefer this party of no over the party of yes that so willingly went along with everything Bush wanted lulz.

The media should investigate the racial views of conservative activists like the ones who descended on Washington last weekend, one liberal congresswoman said Wednesday.

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) said that it's not enough for African-Americans to levy allegations of racism against the right-leaning protesters, and that the media must look into their views.

Waters: Probe 'birthers and the teabaggers' at rallies for racist views - The Hill's Blog Briefing Room

That takes care of the attack on freedom of assembly and freedom of speech.

1/6/2009--Introduced.

Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 - Amends the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act to prohibit a person from possessing a firearm unless that person has been issued a firearm license under this Act or a state system certified under this Act and such license has not been invalidated or revoked. Prescribes license application, issuance, and renewal requirements.

H.R. 45 - Summary: Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 (GovTrack.us)

That takes care of the assault on our 2nd amendment rights and our freedom.

An apology would be an appropriate response.... but I doubt that you have that kind of integrity.

Yes...you are wrong. The attempts to greatly inflate the numbers has been exposed.

That aside...how are any of the rights you mentioned being "messed with". Give an example to substantiate any of the claims.

Simple they are being legislated away one at a time with a 'justifiable' / 'reasonable' reason

I think its official....the "party of no" is becoming the "party of paranoia"

I'd rather be in the party of 'paranoia' and nip the tyranny before it sprouts and becomes all but unstoppable rather then to help tow the party line and have to worry about joining the 'party in the pit lined up to get a bullet in the back of the head'...

All I can say beyond that is both that this is not a joke and to suggest that you look into history, even in the past 100 years and see what happens when a government becomes corrupt and grows beyond control.

LOL....a congressperson calling on the media to cover the event and show the crazy people attending the rallies = an attempt to take away the right to free assembly......thats a stretch.

and

A Congressperson proposing a bill requiring licensing prior to getting a gun = right to bear arms being taken away. Get real.

First of all....Congress people write all kinds of bills every year....ones much more wacky than that one.

Look 2 posts up.... or did you conveniently miss that one?

"I want those people talked to; I want them interviewed," Waters told the liberal Bill Press Radio show in a podcast. "I want journalists to be all over those rallies and the marches with the birthers and the teabaggers."

"What I'm looking for is the very people who carry the signs who are referring to the policies in very, very strange ways like 'Obamacare' and 'Barry Obamacare with Kennedy,'" she said. "What I've been interested in is hearing from those people that everybody's referring to -- everybody on the Mall, in the rally."

Tens of thousands of conservative activists took to the National Mall last weekend to protest the Obama administration, specifically its stance on healthcare reform. Examples of incendiary rhetoric touching on racial overtones from some protesters have emerged on blogs in the days since the rally.

You don't think that a Congress critter inciting harassment of citizens is an attempt to stifle free speech and assembly? UR nuts.

Any attempt to infringe on the 2nd amendment is an assault on our freedom, apparently you won't be concerned until it is passed.... if then.

Little Green Footballs - Right Wing Blogs in Massive Fail Mode

LGF, although a conservative blog, has done an amazing job tracking the more extreme elements that have hijacked the Republican Party.

Andrew Sulllivan pointed out the Little Green Footballs blog today:

The Continued Evolution Of Charles Johnson

The pioneer of the anti-Jihadist blog, Little Green Footballs, is repulsed by some of the developments on the populist, racist right. He's right to be; and has the courage to say so. For that he is subjected to the usual mau-mauing. Check out his blog. It's an Yglesias Award in motion.

The crowd attendance numbered at 2 million in DC, actuallly.

Not a chance, that was a lie told by a guy from FreedomWorks named Kibbe.

On another note, welcome to DP :2wave:

Too low brow.

I'm sure that if someone wanted to subject themselves to the pain, they could find shows where he was defending protesters during the Bush years.

He's really not very funny.

Ever since bush was out of office he's lost any humor, its just agenda agenda agenda, I stopped watching during the 08 elections.

My numbers were off. The turnout was actaully about 200,000 to a million.
