Tens of thousands attend broad protest of government in nation's capital

Tell us what you thought of the "Million Mom March".
I don't see the point in taking this topic off in a different direction. The agenda of the MMM was even different.

Just wondering if the hammer of criticism you swung here goes in both directions, or just one.

Looks like just one.

See, that right there, that would be another logic failure. The one implies nothing about the second.

Seems this is a bit more than mere "Right wing fringe" groups.... What do you all think of this turnout, to me, it indicates a possible out of touchness with this administration.

You're right! Wouldn't it be best if we left it up to health insurance companies to decide the faith of the poor without health care. He is SOOOOO out of touch!

Dude.. the debt was already almost double by the time the bailouts happened....

Dude.... how soon you forget.

Note when that graph really started to climb. (like, 2006.... what happened that year?.... Hmmm?)

For all intents and purposes my criticism of this rally is all I'll comment on. I see no point of comparing a gun control march to what I consider a partisan political rally.

I am.. damn I must have missed that memo of who ran the country from 2000 to 2006 ... and who was in the White House from 2000 to 2008

Who has been in control of congress since 2006.... and what does that say about who is spending the money?

Oh, that's right... you're not from this country so you don't understand who holds the purse strings.

That's OK -- I have the information I needed.
Thanks.

No, you don't, cuz I remember Tumbleweed saying he voted for two Republican Senators, and the current Democratic President. That IS moderate.

Funny, the right used to LIKE moderates (can I get me a Reagan Democrat?)

WHAT is the deal with all the ignorant 'You're not American so stfu posts'?
As IF Americans don't feel the right to comment on the whooooole rest of the world.

LOL I aint excusing anyone, just pointing out your sides hypocrisy on the issue. What is intellectually weak and pathetic is your sides sudden "outrage" over massive debt and other issues...

Again, where were they when Bush took the debt from 5.6 trillion to almost 9 trillion in 2007 and almost 10 trillion before he left office... where were the 10s of thousands protesting this in Washington?...

*yawn*

link to you ever critisizing the left.

game set match. hypocrital much?

Most Americans are happy with thier health care. emotional arguments teh fail.

Why do those on the left want to downplay the attendance?

Especially when the pictures suggest attendance that is much greater than 60k.

I would have to say it is simply because they do not like that these people do not agree with the way they think things should be.

Ripper_Is_Here.gif

Heck, even Acorn representatives attended.

Is that what's happening, or is the right trying to overinflate the attendance? Cuz that's what it seems to me ....

I've stated again and again the attendance was impressive.

Pete once again exposing himself as ignorant.

When the bailouts were announced by Bush, these same people were upset about it. I sure was.

Damn straight. All anyone has to do is go back a year on this board and look at our reactions. In some ways the movement started then. We were furiously calling our representatives and saying NO BAILOUT. Bush was presidents and we did not support that measure AT ALL.

The fact that an actual march did not get off the ground was simple: we were just over 1 month away from the presidential election. There were other fish to fry. But make no mistake. You could feel it in the air a year ago. We just were starting to move from "WTF are they doing?" to getting our asses in gear.

No, you don't, cuz I remember Tumbleweed saying he voted for two Republican Senators, and the current Democratic President. That IS moderate.

:2rofll:

Voting Snowe and Collins =/= voting republican. ;)

Of course it does, and more, it means moderate. I didn't ask, but I wonder if he voted for Angus as well....

Did Angus Beef have any competition? It seems so long ago.

They didn't surpass any of those. Nor did it surpass a pro-choice march in 2004. Doesn't mean it wasn't an impressive turnout, but lying about attendance diminishes the numbers that did turn out.

Actually they did the Park Service said today that they Estimated the crowed to be between 1.2 to 1.7 Million People making it one of the largest March's in Washington DC History.

I'll trust the Park Service number over anything else posted.

Look how many there are! They MUST be right too!
WTF?

Is that what's happening, or is the right trying to overinflate the attendance? Cuz that's what it seems to me ...
Both may be happening.
But there is no reason for it.

Lets wait for official numbers.

I think it has already been pointed out that conservatives, as opposed to liberals, are generally, not the kind of people that protest about things enmasse.
So any turnout as large as it appears, of such a group, is significant.

But like I said:

LOL what a crock. I fully understand what is going on.

When they had the power, then it was no problem running up massive debts. They had no problems with the Patriot Act and that their people spied on them. Or creating a massive bureaucratic institution as Homeland Security.

But now that they are not in power, then they suddenly see everything the "other side" is doing as a threat to them. So now they are coming out of the woodwork and starting to protest. Now it is important for fiscal responsibility, now that the ship is sinking, now it is important for personal rights and liberty, and now it is important for certain "values".

I ask again, where were these people when the Bush administration doubled the debt of the US? Or established a bloated bureaucratic organisation like Homeland Security? Or spied on its own people without warrants?... oh yea I know where they were.. defending the administration tooth and nail.

Or could it be, that these people are like many US conservatives, a bunch of hypocrites that cant stand that a black man from the Democratic party is stilling in the White House instead of the usual old white man they are so accustomed too?

Yes the truth hurts, and no amount of "you dont understand, you are not American" crap will change the truth.

Hey Petere Shut up your not an American you don't live here don't pay Tax's and sure the hell don't know what the average American is thinking or doing, ow run along and go worry about that Utopia know as the EU, the French and Italians are going to strike again maybe the wine is bad.
