“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”

For those who stood up and supported Joe Wilson's outburst, your legs have just been taken out from under you by Joe Wilson himself. As for Wilson himself, although there is no excuse for such an outburst in the chambers of Congress, it takes a big man to do the right thing and apologize. Your apology is personally noted by me, and you have my appreciation and respect. Now lets all get back to business and forget about....... Hmmm, what did Wilson say? I forget. Yea, that's the ticket.

NOTE: To err is human, but to be a real douchebag takes a Congressman. Joe Wilson just showed that he is human like the rest of us, so give him a break, folks. Today, he did good. :)

No, whoever told Rep. Wilson to go and kiss Obama's ass, If I were him, I would have told him to KISS MINE!!!. Rep. Wilson had the balls to stand up to Der Komissar.

I can always appreciatte a Polititian who makes a mistake and has the balls to apologize.

Good for you Wilson.

No, Wilson had the balls to man up and take responsibility for his actions. You do NOT disrupt the President's speech. If you strongly disagree, you sit on your hands while others are standing. Wilson broke the long standing decorum of the Congressional chamber with his outburst, but once more, he has apologized, and deserves a break. I am sure that the last thing Wilson wants to hear right now are blow hards who dare to call him a wimp for doing the right thing.

Much ado about nothing.

I am so disgusted with our government that this doesn't bother me in the least. They're all liars. They're all pieces of crap. Let them slit each other's throats for all I care...

People, people, people!

Mr. Wilson did NOT apologize for WHAT he said, only for the venue in which he said it. Read his apology again.

Besides that, we all know that only Democrats have mainline media permission, nay, encouragement, to call a sitting President a liar. Namely, Mr. Bush.

It was NOT the proper venue for this outburst but it is something that needed to be said.

The President is either a liar or he is ignorant.

If the President knows what is in these Bills and said that illegals are not covered, then he is a liar.

If the President said that illegals are not covered because he doesn't know what is in these bills, then he is ignorant.

Pick one.

I could say "I'm glad he apologized", but it is standard practice to do so. I'm sure the man feels quite embarrassed over his behavior (especially after the backlash), but it is a little sterile. I also do not expect more from the guy, because while it was rude, a simple apology is good enough for this small moment of egotistical outburst.

Great! Be discussed. Vote every incumbent, be they "R" or "D" out of office in NOV 2010.

Hope.
NOV 2010.
Yes we can.

Yeah, being a big man from so far away sure convinces me you would have acted any differently had you been put into the same situation.

Why would Mr. Wilson be embarrassed? Only a Liberal would be embarrassed by the truth. I will grant you that this was not the proper venue but it is no less rude than the Democrats booing Mr. Bush during a State of the Union speech.

There's that Democrat standard again....the double one.

I thought it's a responsibility of a US House member to voice the opinions of his constituency?

...just not the right venue, but worth saying nonetheless.

Who cares? The halls of Congress ceased being a respectable place a long time ago. Let them act like savages. It suites them perfectly.

People become embarrassed when they legitimately have an a moment where their emotions overturn their composure. It overshadows how they feel about the substance of the matter, because we place value in procedural manners.

Of course Democrats have acted inappropriately in the past. I certainly hope you aren't applying the double standard to me, because I was plenty upset at the yelling and screaming of the opposition on the left.

Most of the time, it is perfectly respectable. It is so respectful and procedural that most people would find it boring. And, really, lost respect a long time ago? What does "long time ago" mean?

Interrupting the President and specifically calling him a liar in the middle of his speech and grumbling in the back ground are quite different. Both are in bad taste but one more so then the other.

It's either wrong on all counts or not wrong at all.

I'll even go further. Sooooo many Dems were bitching during Bush's speech, it's hard to make out what any of them were saying.

Like I said both are wrong. One more so then the other.

No one said anything about the boos and jeers following the statement before Wilson's outburst.

You don't know who was bitching or the number of them bitching. The fact is none of them called out the President as a liar to his face.

It's certainly obvious that he let his emotions get the best of him. I wish him the best. It's probably best to move on now.

(At least he never left a girl drowning under a bridge, as far as we know...)

Most of the time, it is perfectly respectable.

Yea, totally respectable...towards special interests.

Whenever they can muster some respect for the Constitution and the precepts of liberty upon which this nation was founded then I'll be more inclined to give a damn about politeness.

It is so respectful and procedural that most people would find it boring.

Just because they speak nicely to one another while they screw Americans in the ass doesn't mean they're "respectable."

And, really, lost respect a long time ago? What does "long time ago" mean?

Don't know, really. It's never been a respectable place as long as I've been alive.

The bland special interests complaints. Everyone complains about special interests, but it turns into a boogieman story rather than an acknowledgment that special interests are what drive American politics for the better as well as for the worst, or for not much at all. Special interests are yet another means for the American public to have a voice.

But no politician has ever lost a vote by complaining about the influence of special interests to the American public, because it is a popular talking point.

If the American people wanted a voice and wanted to limit the influence of special interests they'd just seek the repeal of the 17th amendment - a move that would restore the original checks & balances and representative essence of our Constitution.

Sadly, we live in an era where a recently-deceased SENATOR is being lionized for a track-record of backing nearly every federal mandate or program that came down the line - a SENATOR against his own State's sovereignty at nearly every turn.

The bland special interests complaints.

Bland? Perhaps. True? Absolutely.

Special interests are a means for the American public to have a voice? That's rich...

But no politician has ever lost a vote by complaining about the influence of special interests to the American public, because it is a popular talking point.

I'm not a politician, last time I checked.
