Libya Reportedly Paid for Evidence That Led to Lockerbie Bomber's Release - International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News - FOXNews.com

Medical evidence that led to the release of the Lockerbie bomber was reportedly paid for by the Libyan government, which encouraged doctors to say he only had three months to live.

The life expectancy of Abdel Baset al-Megrahi was crucial, The Sunday Telegraph reported, because Scottish law mandates that prisoners can be freed on compassionate grounds only if they are considered to have three months or less to live.

Al-Megrahi, 57, is suffering from terminal prostate cancer and was released by Scottish officials last month. He was the lone person convicted in the 1988 bombing of a Pan Am airliner over Lockerbie, Scotland. The attack killed 259 people aboard the plane, most of them American, and 11 on the ground.

Two of the three doctors commissioned by the Libyans provided the required three-month estimates, The Sunday Telegraph reports, while the third also indicated that the prisoner had a short time to live. That's in contrast with findings of doctors in June and July who had concluded that al-Megrahi had up to 10 months to live, which would have blocked his release.

So now we have it folks we now know that the deal was for Oil and now here is the proof that the original Doctors were correct. So anyone want tot take bets on how fast the Special relationship between the USA and the UK is going to head into the tank and do you think that the UN will revisit allowing the good Col, to speak.

If one **** up by Labour is what it takes for the special relationship to disappear, it certainly says alot

But this is a major Screwup by the Labor and I wouldn't be surprise if it leads to both the UK and Scottish Govn. falling and new elections are called.

Labour will fall next election
No doubt about it. Everyone in UK knows it, even die hard Labour supporters.

When is your all next elections? If UK voters are anything like American voters then either short term memory loss or short attention span will make voters forget about this and continue to vote for the same clowns.

What do you think will happen in Scotland then will this push the SNP out of power.

Election can happen anytime all it takes is the PM to call for special elections in light of everything that is come out over this subject I could see the Torys calling for PM Brown to step down and early General Election called.

What are the Torys and how do you know that they are not in on it?

The next election has to be called before 3rd June 2010

And no short term memory loss on this election, i have a feeling Labour will be by the end of the night on the brink of extinction.
Labour is to us what Bush was to you.

Tories are the loyal opposition of the Labour party.
Tories = Conservative party.

And Cameron seems pretty pissed off about this whole incident and they can't be in on it seeing it is not them in power.

No one but the Prime Minister and the Queen have the ability to call a general election. It wouldn't make a difference how much 'calling' the tories do.

Really care to debate this one fact in light of this story the Oil part of this story and what was just broke on BBC1 about the fact that Mr. Brown didn't want to go back and talk to Libya about Comp for IRA Vics. I can see him having no choice but call for a special election.

The Queen will not let this stand in the past she has quitely worked behind the scene to get special election call if she feels that what is going on is going ot do more harm to the Country. Your not old enough to recall the race riots of the 70s.

No way will Brown call a special election.

Gordon has waited 10 years for the reigns of power and to become Prime Minister working in the background to chuck out Blair. He will not give it up a day before he has to.

The Queen will not intervene. She takes no political stance and her using her power will put the monarchy in danger.

What do i think?
I think Conservatives winning will increase Scotland's goal for independence and SNP will gain as a result

About 9 months. Thats plenty of time for those politicians to start kissing the ass of those who do not really pay attention to politics. Plenty of time for those with short attention spans to forget about it or those with short term memory to stop caring and definitely enough time for another disaster or controversy to happen that will divert everyone's attention away. . If they loose it won't be by a wide margin.

Labour is to us what Bush was to you.

Bush was elected twice to office and finished his terms, he probably isn't a good example to use.

No the Queen will step in like she did in the 70s if she needs to it really all depends on what happen over here in the United State and enlight of what just came out about the IRA. I could see a very quick firestorm happen around Mr. Brown and forcing him to step down and call special elections.

Not Labour.
You do not understand.
It is impossible for Labour to regain 40 points to be even with the Conservatives right now.

We have alot to be angry about and it will all come out in the next election.
Iraq, Afghanistan - Our soldiers and lack of funding (Labour is withholding funds to pay for equipment and then lie about it), Gurkhas, loss of liberty, the increased police state we have become, ID cards, libya, the extradition of a british citizen, torture by M15, MP expenses, Lisbon treaty and not giving us a vote and as a result signing away our soverignty, Lockerbie, losing our data on trains.

I will not forget any of this and neither will anyone i know. I will vote against my MP for her expenses, the little bitch and her stealing from the public.

And Labour will lose by a bigger landslide than Conservatives lost under if the polls are to be believed.

Tory landslide predicted at next election in crucial Sun poll | The Sun |News

The exclusive YouGov survey, the most crucial for five years, shows the Tories 14 points up on Labour.

If repeated at an election next May, that would give Mr Cameron 42 per cent of the vote with Labour trailing on 28 and the Lib Dems on 17.

And the Tories would comfortably bring 13 years of New Labour rule to an end.

The survey is particularly significant as every August poll carried out before a spring election since 1996 has predicted the result to within one per cent.

It shows 38 per cent of voters believe Mr Cameron would make the best PM compared to just 19 per cent for Mr Brown.

Six out of ten voters say Mr Brown - also on the rack over the release of the Lockerbie bomber - is doing fairly or very badly in No10.

Yes but Bush was elected under .... special circumstances. I mean, it is unheard of - A judiciary deciding who heads the executive in UK.

Yes but she is not needed yet.
She has no real reason to call a election.

Parliament is in recess right now so they are not doing as much damage.

Yes she can but she will not.

The established convention is that the Government decides when Parliament returns and the Queen's role is to perform the state opening of Parliament and read the Governments speech.
If you watch the state opening you will see through it parts where the House of Commons establishes its importance as the elected house when it approaches the HOL and Queen. No Monarch has stepped foot in the HOC since Charles the 1st.
