S.J. couple hopes their poster inspires county’s students

"Just say no" didn't work, I'm not convinced this waste of resources will work either.

Speak for yourself. "Just say no" was a big part of my self motivation when I quit drugs and alcohol, and I doubt I was the only one.

my son would be enjoying playing hooky with me if he were still in school.

Obama sure is bringing change. Can't say he lied to the country.

You obviously said, "yes" before you said, "no."

I quit drugs because I wanted to but that is just me.
When you look at the big picture though, the anti drug policy hasn't worked at all.

I think this kind of poster would work:

You would keep your kid home from school to shield him from the stay in school message! Lolz.

I do not think her goal was to eliminate drug use. I think her goal was to give a simple, memorable thing some might use to avoid using drugs.

If you do not think he is going to go into 'saving the planet from global warming' and green crap, and other stuff like that so he can 'fundamentally change the nation' you are deluding yourself

I understand, I was just razzing you largely though.
Should of used a smiley.

But seriously, does any of this reach higher crap really work on most people?
I doubt it.

Yeah they should just plaster the walls with pseudo-porn. Keep those boys from dropping out.

I think that it would work as well as plastering the walls with Nancy Reagan.

Also, I think your humor chip is malfunctioning. I hear they sell used ones on e-bay for about $12.

what is this "live topic" deal?

Most? Probably not. But if it works on some, then it is worth it. Every inner city kid who this reaches, who stays in school, is one less person likely to turn to crime, and one more person likely to contribute positively to their community.

huh, who? Kids get all kinds of nutty messages in school. We did, the kids will. There's always something they're scaring the kids to death with. My kids actually worry the planet is dying.

When I was in school I was convinced that if I had sex I was gonna drop dead of AIDS the next day.

Kids are tough. They get older. They weed out the dumb crap from the useful stuff. The beat goes on.

As long as it is privately funded I honestly don't care, however, having a current politician as the face of it should be a no no.

It's seems like a way of campaigning.

When I was in school, we were absolutely convinced that Ronald Reagan was going to start WWIII and we were all going to be nuked.

He's a sitting President. Most federal building have his picture somewhere on the wall.

I get that you may disagree with his policies, but if you can't respect him as our President, your president--then you don't respect our system of government its democratic elections.

Too me--the poster says one thing: STAY IN SCHOOL, STUDY HARD, AND ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. -- You have a problem with that?

Young people should be taught to respect the President--agree or disagree. That goes along with respecting authority. When they get into high school and college and take some classed on history, poli sci--hopefully, they form their own opinions and not just adopt those of their parents.

Respect the President? Liberals threw that concept out of the window while Bush was in office.

He is the first sitting black President. His image will more than likely be in schools for decades and decades to come.

Good thing I have no plans to send my kids to a government school to learn about race as something significant over character.

That is nonsensical crap, imo.

The fact that he was the president doesn't mean that it's automatically okay.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejvyDn1TPr8"]YouTube - Nixon - When the president does it, that means that it is not illegal[/ame]

Great point, let us hope he gets through this first term before we go getting the hopes up of millions of children, only to then have them dashed.

Well it's inevitable. Anytime there's a group of pictures of past Presidents it's likely his image will be among the chosen because he's the only one that is black. This is likely going to be true for motivational posters, pictures, textbooks, magazines, etc.
