Dealers Still Waiting For 'Clunker' Cash...

Yes. the program was so successful that they have to triple the number of people working on the claims. It cleared out dealers inventories and put people back to work.

Did you read the article? Did you see the part where there is NO perceivable system for the reimbursements? Chaos is a mild word to describe what's going on.

Yes I read it, did you?

"Billion thinks he'll get all his money eventually, it just may take longer than what the government first said."

The dealers are getting the money, it's just taking more time because no one foresaw how successful the program would be.

Fast forward to: "You'll get your heart transplant eventually, it's just taking more time because no one saw how successful the program would be."

The Clunker program was NOT a success, it likely just created an artificial bump in the economy.

It's so successful dealers were backing out of the program due to government non-payment.

Oh, and when we say "create jobs"....we mean life-long careers....not temp work that will only last a few weeks.

It did what it was supposed to do, that you don't agree with the program is another matter.

It did what it was supposed to do.....

No that's the point, it hasn't don what it's supposed to do....you said it yourself, dealers haven't been paid.

Or are you saying the program was supposed to screw dealers out of cash?

Every large program starts out with troubles. When the program is short lived, like CARS, it does not get those problems worked out during the life of the program. With longer programs, the initial kinks do tend to get worked out while the program is running.

That was about 200 dealers out of over 50,000 dealers nationwide. Not really significant.

If that were true then SS would be balanced by now.

Like the VA? How about the DMV?

The VA is a great program actually. I know it's hard to believe, but the VA does great work for vets. The DMV is a state level program, which we don't have in Michigan. We have the Secretary of State which handles the same functions, and credit where credit is due, it was a republican Secretary of State who fixed the program for us. I think last time I was there I was in and out in 5 minutes.

Oh, yeah, the VA is top shelf. Right.

Put people back to work Joe? The August jobs report suggests that another 250,000 Americans lost work Joe; who has this idiotic program where you take money from one voters pocket and put it into another persons made the job picture better?

I am fascinated by this new Librul math regarding job creation where a continuing climb in joblessness and a loss of over 6 million jobs since the beginning of the year equates to job creation.

The irony is that this is coming from the same Libruls who claimed Bush wasn't creating enough jobs with a 4.6% unemployment rate.

:doh

That would be like me cutting one employee's salary so I can give another employee a raise, so the second employee won't quit.

It's called, "robbing Peter to pay Paul".

Hey TD, can you tell me when the program started? If you can, and think about it, you will understand why the August jobs report shows what it does.

It's not a "job" if it's not a career. If you think seasonal/temp work = "job creation", you were never talking about what we were talking about when we were discussing "job creation".

Bush inherited a 4% unemployment rate and more than DOUBLED it when he left office to 8.1%.

Obama's been in office 7 months, and you expect the numbers to automatically drop?

If you can't even begin your arguments based on facts, why should anyone take you seriously?

Hey Jerry, want to guess how many people got called back to their career work due to this program? I will give you a hint, GM alone called back over 1000 workers, and this drives work for GM suppliers, both part suppliers and raw material suppliers(ie, steelworkers are getting called back to work too).

Yeah about that, my mother works for NUMMI in Fremont CA...at least she will until March of 2010, when thanks to Obama telling GM to pull out of NUMMI, will close it's doors.

Wana guess how much I give a **** about 1,000 workers when jobs are still at a net loss?

This is like when Obama said he would split the deficit in half. Yeah, he will spit the deficit...after he triples it. 1x3=3 (tripped deficit) 3x0.5 (Obama's "split") = 1.5....therefore Obama will increase the deficit: another reason NOT to vote for him.

Can you point to where Obama told GM to pull out of the venture:

On June 29, 2009 General Motors announced that they would discontinue the joint venture with Toyota.[5] The announcement was made following GM CEO Fritz Henderson announcing in April that General Motors would discontinue the Pontiac Vibe production at NUMMI. The two automakers were in discussions but could not find a suitable product to be produced at the factory. “After extensive analysis, GM and Toyota could not reach an agreement on a future product plan that made sense for all parties,” GM North America President Troy Clarke said in a statement. "Toyota’s hope was to continue the venture and we haven’t yet decided any plans at the factory,” said Hideaki Homma, Toyota’s Tokyo-based spokesman. “While we respect this decision by GM, the economic and business environment surrounding Toyota is also extremely severe, and so this decision by GM makes the situation even more difficult for Toyota.”

So what you are saying is that it is somehow wrong that GM decided to stop making an unprofitable car line? Damn them for trying to be profitable!

Further, your mother is one person, and has nothing to do with the point I was arguing, which is that CARS is providing a boost in jobs.
