Ridge accuses Bush White House of political use of terror alert system

Take the ball and run with it, sport.

You named two in about 5 seconds.....I'm 62 & to old to run.;)

Keep going....You're doing fine

(we actually agree that Bush & his gang are liars. I subscribe to the Lying Then school & you simply subscribe to the "Lying Now" school. ...pretty small difference.

Well...I guess we'll all have to wait for his book.

First his publisher claims Ridge said he felt pressured enough to quit the government.
Now Ridge says that wasn't so???

We'll all just have to wait for the dust to settle but...something smells fishy about this whole story.

Either:
1. Ridge was lying in the book to help sales
or
2. His publisher was lying to sell books
or
3. Ridge is lying now. (realizing the gravity of his charges)

Who knows?????

#2 seemed very likely all along. Don't under estimate the power of the almighty dollar.

Tough to reconcile these 2 stories:

Ridge accuses Bush White House of political use of terror alert system - National Politics Blog - Political Intelligence - Boston.com

In his new book, the first Homeland Security chief, Tom Ridge, accuses top aides to President George W. Bush of pressing him to raise the terror alert level to influence the 2004 presidential election.
Ridge writes that there was a "vigorous, some might say dramatic, discussion" about raising the threat level. He says his aides told the White House that doing so would politicize national security.

"I believe our strong interventions had pulled the 'go-up' advocates back from the brink," Ridge writes. "But I consider the episode to be not only a dramatic moment in Washington's recent history, but another illustration of the intersection of politics, fear, credibility and security."

"After that episode, I knew I had to follow through with my plans to leave the federal government for the private sector," Ridge, who resigned soon after the election where Bush defeated Democrat John F. Kerry, writes in "The Test of Our Times: America Under Siege ... And How We Can Be Safe Again."

Then This:

Ridge backpedals on pressure to raise terror alert level - USATODAY.com
"I'm not second-guessing my colleagues," Ridge said in an interview about The Test of Our Times, which comes out Tuesday and recounts his experiences as head of the nation's homeland security efforts in the first several years after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Sounds to me like the first statement was true & now he's trying to weasel out of it with a non-denial...denial..

So I guess we're left with this:

Like almost all other members of the Bush regime, Ridge is a liar. The only remaining question is: Was he lying then?..... or is he lying now??

(my money is on the "NOW" answer)
To say that Ridge is contradicting himself requires serious :spin:

Don't under estimate the power of the almighty dollar.

I never do...It was enough reason for Bush & Cheney to lie us into the Iraq war (& kill thousands of our GI's) so they could earn a few more almighty dollars.

They were payed to oust Saddam?

They were payed to oust Saddam?

Take a look at Exxon-Mobil's profits under the (ex oilmen) Bush/Cheney regime.(highest profits of any company in the history of the world!)

Bet your butt they were paid....& handsomely too!

So you agree that, a former high ranking member of the Bush Regime.....Ridge is a liar & you opt for him lying THEN as opposed to Now....Right?

Can you name any Bush regime member who has always told the truth? (I can't)

Great Charles Laughton scene about lying

Do you have any evidence that the increased profits had anything to do with the ouster of Saddam?

Do you have any evidence that Bush and Cheney were payed?

Yes I do.......& so do you.;)

I don't have any evidence.

Sir Wilfrid: [getting progressively more agitated] The question is whether you were lying then or are you lying now... or whether in fact you are a chronic and habitual LIAR!

Alright. Ridge specifically said he wasn't pressured. I don't know how much more proof you'd like.

Only question is...When was/is he lying??

This issue is officially over.

Ridge did not accuse anyone from the administration of politicizing the terror alert system. His own words in an interview last night prove it.
