Ridge accuses Bush White House of political use of terror alert system

If you aren't a member of the grand jury, your opinions are totally meaningless...so why even tell us??

Aww, so only yourself and the Grand Jury get to decide and no one else may have an opinion based upon the testimony of the other people involved with the decision. Stop trying to grind your political ax with this, it's not going to accomplish anything. Perhaps you should go play in the conspiracy forum and try and prove that Bush stole the election as well?

So you are claiming the book publisher is lying? (what do YOU think the book is really about?.........How to knit sweaters?)
The premise of this thread was debunked in posts #59 and #68. You either missed it or ignored it. What Ridge said and what the publishers said contradict each other.

I don't know, what do you think it's about chief? How to be a dick?

No....I think Tom Ridge is a credible..honest Republican who was disgusted by the Bush administration's attempt to use his important agency for cheap political purposes....in violation of many U.S. laws.

Seriously, this should be in the Conspiracy Forum. Can a mod move this thread please?

Tom Ridge:
""Let me make it very clear. I was never directed to do so no matter how many analysts, pundits or critics say so.""

What you think is a lot different from what Ridge actually said.

No....I read those posts & they "debunk" nothing. You are merely grasping at straws.

I'll ask you a third time. Where are Ridge's accusations? What exactly did he say? Show me a quote.

Last time I will prove my point:
The act of "Pressing" him....IS the violation of law. Whether or not he did what they illegally PRESSED him to do is not important........Get it??

Ridge accuses Bush White House of political use of terror alert system - National Politics Blog - Political Intelligence - Boston.com

In his new book, the first Homeland Security chief, Tom Ridge, accuses top aides to President George W. Bush of pressing him to raise the terror alert level to influence the 2004 presidential election.

Ridge, a former Republican governor of Pennsylvania, says that he refused the entreaty just before the election from Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Attorney General John Ashcroft, according to a summary of the book from publisher Thomas Dunne Books.

Which would be fine, if they had pressured him at all. Which by his own statements they did not.

According to his publisher. According to Ridge himself they did not. Once again, the publisher is trying to create controversy to sell books.

You proved that the publisher wants to sell books. It's hardly an unbiased source. Would you buy car A over car B merely because the seller of car A said it was a better car?

& I'll answer you for the last time......The best evidence we have (until the book comes out) is what the publisher says is in the book.
I believe the publisher. You can believe whatever fairy tales you wish.

:rofl

Really? You're going to believe the publisher over what Ridge actually said?

I'm done....Trying to intelligently discuss anything with someone who's mind is slammed shut is a worthless waste of time.

But I'll leave you with Ridge's own words:

"I believe our strong interventions had pulled the 'go-up' advocates back from the brink," Ridge writes. "But I consider the episode to be not only a dramatic moment in Washington's recent history, but another illustration of the intersection of politics, fear, credibility and security."

"After that episode, I knew I had to follow through with my plans to leave the federal government for the private sector," Ridge, who resigned soon after the election where Bush defeated Democrat John F. Kerry, writes in "The Test of Our Times: America Under Siege ... And How We Can Be Safe Again."

Lol, yes. God forbid we believe what the writer of the book said instead of what the publishers of his book said.

Ok...I can only assume that you say that because you think I was influenced by campaign slogans. Would it surprise you to know that I voted for Obama?

Yes. (if true) ........ but why did you vote for him over McCain?

You just contradicted your other posts. There's no accusation there.
