My Way News - White House says it did send unwanted e-mails

After insisting no one was receiving unsolicited e-mails from the White House, officials reversed their story Monday night and blamed outside political groups for the unwanted messages from the tech-savvy operation.

White House online director Macon Phillips said in a blog posting that independent groups - he didn't name them - had signed-up their members to receive regular updates about Obama's projects, priorities and speeches.
I'm kinda curious....what's so "tech savvy" about being the Spambot-In-Chief?

It's a good thing Krewe Bush never did anything like this. What crime would be be accused of?

Flagrant impersonation of meat, probably.

the white house, in an act that would be seen as unbelievably stupid if it weren't by now so par for the course, declared war on fox news last week

"cable tv" were the words used by press secty gibbs, and he disparaged the institution several times a day

"food fights on cable tv," for example, were responsible for ginning up all this outrage that was just ruining all those otherwise pretty town halls gibbs wanted to see

by "cable tv," just who could the secty mean?

LOL?

msnbc?

the point---major garrett of fox fought back

he employed a relentless LOL! campaign, stayed really upbeat and borderline funny

but he kept pressing gibbs, day after day, on this question of emails

how could people who never contacted the white house be on the receiving end of axelrod's propaganda pieces?

obviously, a lot of recipients were conservatives, the way they so eagerly got in touch with garrett

the upshot---in less than a week, the white house backs down

LOL!

another defeat

another retreat

death panels, floor vote deadlines, public options, emails...

running backwards on every front

ms palin kicked his butt on panels

all she did is MENTION em on FACEBOOK

LOLOLOL!

in LESS THAN A WEEK baucus had to abandon em

LOLOL!

these happenings are very revealing of where the power in this country really lives

gosh, and it was just january 20 when the party of pelosi was so puffed up

fastest loser in american history, obama

most incompetent pol at the national level america has ever seen

he had it ALL, 60 senators, a thrilled media...

now, he's running away from a cable tv reporter and an outta work governor from ALASKA

LOLOLOL!

this email business is NOT over, by the way, there are legal ramifications

the white house CANNOT delete or expunge them, per federal law

exactly how they got them is still a big question

major garrett is NOT going away---LOL!

and he's sure to get ALL THE TIME his news hounding heart could ever desire on HIS NETWORK

THAT's how dumb is rahm the ram

and his bigeared boss

why did the white house shut down flag.gov the very day they admitted wrongness on the emails?

exactly WHAT was going on at flag?

Are you honestly going to claim that "outside political groups" during the Bush years never sent out any right wing spam?

They sure do now. I tried to unsubscribe to the RNC email spam(that I never subscribed to), and I started getting two at a time. So I tried one more time, and started getting 3. I gave up at that point.

Can you prove that they did? Nevermind, because it's irrelevent. The point is, that the Obama Administration did spam people. Care to tell us how that's ok?

Remember the,"snitch line"?????????

This isn't "outside political groups" sending spam, this is the White House sending spam.

Taxpayer supported spam...now that's change!

I want to know how these individuals were signed up. Did the White House knowingly allow these independent groups to sign up lists of people or were they signed up without the White House knowingly they didn't asked to be signed up?

Vague exported a list of all our emails and signed us up for White House emails through Organizing for America | BarackObama.com | Get Email Updates I wouldn't blame the White house for this.

If these people didn't openly sign up for email alerts from the WH and the WH didn't know how they came to possess these email addies, then their only option was not respond to them.

Oh, come off it. The far-right has been going ape **** crazy sending all kinds of bull**** emails to people who don't have a clue. Politifact has been working overtime debunking every lame talking point.

They send out one email to answer the critics--which I got and read. Did you?-- and good God almighty you'd though they lied about WMD's or something.

File this under panties-in-a-bundle-hissy-fit-partisanship.

I mean, how long do reasonable people have to sit still and listen to death panels and pulling the plug on grandma and subsidized abortions before saying take your goddamn lies and go to hell.

We want sensible, pragmatic health care reform and the man who WON the election--the man chosen by the majority to represent the country has some interesting ideas. Mind if we listen to them and make up our own mind what these ideas really mean and how they might work. You know, pros and cons. What do you like about the bill, what don't you like?

Anyway, is it okay with you if the Republic functions the way it was designed to? Candidates present a platform, we vote.

Despite hyper-partisan socialism bull**** no one is trampling on the minority (loser Palin) rights. So get over it. We all had to live with the idiot son of a former President for 8 years. Now you can certainly sit still and allow someone who is 10x the intellect of his predecessor a moment to talk and think and talk some more.

Sheesh... rant off.

The only one throwing a hissy fit seems to be you (as per usual).

It makes the White House look foolish....again. Somebody in the West Wing thought he'd be clever (probably one the same folks that thought an unannounced overflight of Manhattan by Air Force One was a good idea), and, as per usual with the White House, it backfired.

Did the WH just find a list of emails and add them to the distribution list or were they added to the WH distribution list by a third party?

As I said, how the emails got added to the list will dictate who is at fault.
