Motorcyclist dies in apparent road-rage crash

I don't know the answers, but understand that the helmet split in two. He obviously was at fault, but thats not always the case. The week before I came upon a frantic woman standing beside her car which happened to be sitting on top of a motorcycle which was all the way under the middle of her suv.She apparently ran over it from behind probably while texting. She managed to do this in heavy rush hour stop and go traffic. The cycle stopped for the red light.Don't know the fate of that rider, but it didn't look good.

how come I have never run across this sort of carnage?

Yeah. I'm hoping before next season to save up for a light mesh jacket (with armor), over pants, and a good set of boots, and a new helmet.

Gotta take the time to save up the money is the issue.

I have yet to experience the road-rage/asshole motorcyclist but I have experienced the douches in their cheap ricer in which the stereo system is worth more than the actual car. Its quite amusing since when you think which vehicle will do better in an accident? The ricer or my XLT Ranger?

Stupid motorcyclist and the type that gives all the rest of us, be them newer rides like myself or vets, a bad name.

We have a hard enough time with cars not paying attention of us normally; there's no need to go causing issues that will cause issues.

Someone cuts you off or does something stupid? Breath out, relax, let them get a bit away from you if they're going over the speed limit, and go on. Riding on the bike is fun and relaxing, no reason to let it ramp your stress and anger up.

After getting into an accident recently and wrecking my bike / knee, all because I was trying to avoid a car that slammed on their breaks when not really needed (granted, the gravel from construction was the larger problem), this just pisses me off. I got up, blamed myself as I should've, and moved along instead of having some intense hatred for a guy that did something while driving that just about everyone that's been behind the wheel has been guilty of once before

Sorry about your accident. That sucks. What happened to your knee? Will it be okay?

Yeah. The road rash is finally mostly healed with just a bit of the scab left. The knee is still bruised to all hell and extremely tender but doesn't hinder me in anything unless I'm trying to kneel down or put weight directly on the knee (interfere's with certain activites at times ;)). But overall I got off very lucky

Glad you are ok.... Pants with CE armor probably would have made that hurt alot less... ;)

I've had a low side get off at 60+, Wearing full leathers. I got up and walked a way... hell with the sliders, I rode the thing home. ;)

How old are you? most cruisers riders are older or image concerned. You seem neither to me...

Currently I ride a highly prepped sv650....

Penske shock traxxion dynamics forks... It's an inexpensive bike, but it will out ride most supersports in the twisties.... ;)

I'm 32. I'm not too into crotch rockets, cruisers are a lot easier to take apart and mod. The fastest bike I have (in theory) is the '76 Yamaha RD350B, back in the day it was the fastest thing on the road. I have to take the engine apart and fix it before it will go again...well that and replace the full of the front brake assembly including the master cylinder. It was running for a bit, a buddy of mine rode it down the street since he's ok riding without a front brake (the image below is his Savage when we took the pipes off...he has a cherry bomb on it, it's obnoxious). Said it wanted to wheelie from stop. But it's a really cool bike, old two-stroke and if people think I'm gonna use the "smoke-less" oil in it, they've got another thing coming!

But yeah, I like the cruiser style cause I'm not in a hurry to get anywhere. I like to cruise around the canyons and such in Colorado, it's a lot of fun. Plus chopping them is really easy. When I get my next bike, my 650 is getting chopped. I'm gonna make it really dorky (cause I'm a dork) and I'm totally making it into a pirate bike. Lowering it, chopping the rear fender, haven't decided if I'm gonna nix the front fender, rejetting it (which means I have to take my carburator to a mechanic to have them drill out my current jets. They're frozen in there...learned that the first time I wanted to rip out the air box), etc. Things are gonna fly off that bike when I get the chance/money. Go go angle grinder!

I think the full of my motorcycle gear is a jacket (crotch rocket jacket oddly enough), a full face helmet, and gloves. I don't wear any of it typically in the summer. Way too hot.

I ride way to fast not to wear gear....

That's a sweet bike there....

My nephew was killed last week in Pinellas county driving a Kawasaki into a palm tree at 60mph.pulled out to pass, didn't see the oncoming car.Five year old daughter, devastated family. When you do risky things you need to remember that it isn't just you on the cycle,Its your whole family.

I am sorry for your loss:(

Do you know how many times I have ridden full bore on a bike, drunk, teasing time and space and daring God?

Do you? Because I was so drunk I can't remember.
