Tempers flare in South Florida over healthcare overhaul

Tempers flare in South Florida over healthcare overhaul - Today's Top Stories - MiamiHerald.com

Confrontation over a national healthcare overhaul reached South Florida on Wednesday, when routine office hours for the staff of a Broward-area congressman turned into a raucous protest.
The incident is like others that reflect nerves frayed by the nationwide debate. Democrats decry what they describe as a mob rule orchestrated by special interests trying to protect the status quo; Republicans call it genuine grass-roots concern over a costly government takeover.

Though only a handful of constituents typically show up at the Lighthouse Point public library once a month with questions for U.S. Rep. Ron Klein's staffers -- often questions about Social Security checks or passport applications -- this time about 100 people packed the room for two hours.

The group was rowdy, rude and fired up about healthcare.

Yes nerves are frayed. and no, our representatives our our servants, "rude" is incorrect. People are upset and fighting back on Obama's ill attempt to take over 1/7th of the US economy....

People do not want it, and they are making thier voices heard...

I've never seen anything like this before, and I'm loving it. It's about time real Americans began standing up for America, rather that the far left nuts that we've had to endure (and laugh at) over the years.

.

The American people are waking up to the socialist takeover of our country. It's awseomse! This ain't Canada, nor Europe--thank God--so those kinds of policies aren't going to fly here.

Another contrived event, which we are supposed to think is a "grass roots" movement of people fed up with Omamerica. All these events are coordinated through RecessRally.com, and reading their remarks it sounds like they will not stop at invading offices:

How about a change of venue? Instead of protesting at his office, I say we gather outside his home. Let’s really send a message.
Recess Rally – 08.22.09 Asheville “Tea Party” Protest

This is a gross misuse of the democratic process, these people don't want a conversation, they want to stop the conversation. This is no more legitimate than the thugs who invaded the Dade county election board in 2000, and is probably organized by the same people.
If the strategy of the Republican party is to stage "outrage", then enlist posters like you to "confirm" the outrage on forums like this, then the Republican party deserves to be run out of business, the sooner the better.

Contrived my ass... Look at the polls pal. These people represent the majority of the American people, and no matter how many times you try and write these people off, it doesn't change that fact.

I recommend you call them "terrorists", "Nazis", and "hate mongers" as often as possible between now and the 2010 mid-terms, and see what that gets you.

:rofl

You can't stand in front of a group of American, and lie you ass off, and expect them to sit back and let you talk. That's just not how it works here in the real world.

This isn't a misuse of Democracy. This is what happens when piss off thise many Americans. It's funny to see how the Libbos are scared ****less at the reaction they're getting from the people.

Congress and The President work for us. We're they're bosses. When you have a job and a boss and you screw-up, you get your ass chewed. When you sit there and tell a bald face lie to your boss, you get your ass chewed, some more. In the private sector, you lie to your boss like that and you get fired. I have zero tolerance for lieing from my employees and I don't care what they lied about. I think with the current government, they are going to find out that they are going to get fired for all the lies they're telling the American people. Most Dems, including the president might as well save everyone alotta time and trouble...and money...and just let their terms expire and go on about their post-political lives.

How are they coordinated through RecessRally.com? From what I read it seems they are organizing protests later this month. Do you have any proof that they had anything to do with these town hall meetings?
This is a gross misuse of the democratic process, these people don't want a conversation, they want to stop the conversation.
Not true. The people came to voice their opinions, and they did. In fact, it was their opinion that nobody would listen to in Congress. They have a right to be angry.

If the Democratic Party wants to call the American people who are exercising their right to free speech "angry mobs" and completely ignore their legitimacy, then they should be the ones going out of business.

If you are going to make the claim that these protesters are all somehow minions of the Republican Party who are only attended to disrupt and stop conversation, you are going to have to prove it.

Hey Wiil here is osme free advice shut up already you and the rest of your left wing friends. This is called the 1st Adm at work you do understand that but of course you understand that because since 2000 because groups like Moveon.org Real Change Now.org have been running around with their head cut off spewing crap about the republicans which for the mosr part wasn't even true.

What has got you and your fellwo Idiots all up in arms about is for the first time Middle America is stepping up and saying you know what neough is enough we aren't going to stand for thei scrap anymore and we are going tolet folks know it.

Hey we just took a page out of the Left Wing Play book.

If the Democratic Party wants to call the American people who are exercising their right to free speech "angry mobs" and completely ignore their legitimacy, then they should be the ones going out of business.

I can't think of anything more desirable than for the Democrats to persist in denigrating vast swaths of the American population as "angry mob" and "unreasonable". The more they piss of the real Americans, the more the real Americans will realize the total disdain their would-be masters hold them in.

This is how revolutions start.

Protesters in Ybor City drown out health care summit on Obama's proposal - St. Petersburg Times
Instead, hundreds of vocal critics turned out, many of them saying they had been spurred on through the Tampa 912 activist group promoted by conservative radio and television personality Glenn Beck. Others had received e-mails from the Hillsborough Republican Party that urged people to speak out against the plan and offered talking points.

And they got violent. Nice to know that they are being push forward to such extremes by Fox News and the RNC... is that the kind of politics the right wants?

Just how dumb are the dumbest of the dumb? Read on:

'How many of you oppose government-run health care?'

The latest town hall gone wild video making the rounds shows the battle Democrats have on their hands in explaining some basic facts about the government role in health care.

In this video, (scroll to about 4:34) an audience member takes control of Rep. Gene Green's (D-Texas) town hall event on health care, asking for a show of hands in the audience of "how many of you oppose any form of socialized or government-run health care?"

The audience cheers and they all raise their hands.

Then Green shoots back: "How many of you have Medicare?"

A good number of hands go up from the same audience.

Medicare, alas, is government-run health care.

I think Paul Krugman put into words much more kindly than I can towards these imbeciles:
Now, people who don’t know that Medicare is a government program probably aren’t reacting to what President Obama is actually proposing. They may believe some of the disinformation opponents of health care reform are spreading, like the claim that the Obama plan will lead to euthanasia for the elderly. (That particular claim is coming straight from House Republican leaders.) But they’re probably reacting less to what Mr. Obama is doing, or even to what they’ve heard about what he’s doing, than to who he is.

Well, I don't know if I really agree or not with him, as it seems apparent over and over that most people seem to be extremely ignorant to the level of "Socialism" they all take for granted, use, have no desire to do without, and would not be in favor of ending.

Why are conservatives such craven hypocrites?

Oh, so either they agree with you and government's (unconstitutional) attempt to monopolize control of heatlhcare or they are idiots, how patriotic of you. Here's a hint, the groundswell against this is growing, and the majority of people according to Zogby AND Rasmussen polls are swinging heavily against this, so.....either everyone else is an idiot for disagreeing with you and wanting their politicians to listen to them and adhere more towards the constitution, or a greater number of people are finally getting it, or, those that still want UHC are burying their heads in the sand, and none of the details matter......making them........?

You don't get it do you?

Question: 'How many of you oppose government-run health care?'
Answer: They all raise their hands

Question: "How many of you have Medicare?"
Answer: A good number of hands go up from the same audience.

People who are on Medicare, don't want "Socialized" government run health care. So, either they are incredible dumb, or just craven hypocrites.

So which is it? I'll let you decide.

You don't get it do you?
Oh, I get it, do you? I've seen your little games all around this forum, you have been saying everyone who disagrees "doesn't get it", so are to assume that is or isn't code word for idiot.

You DO know that medicare has multiple private options right? You Also DO know that medicare part B is a paid option to part A right? Then you would also know that the UHC your side wants would be 100% taxpayer subsidized, meaning that some would have to pay for the healthcare of all right? So.....what part of this do we need to understand again?
So which is it? I'll let you decide.
I'll wait until you describe medicare so that I know whether to tear you a new one or just correct you.

Your brand of socialism isn't welcome. I hope this is only the beginning of a revolution to cleanse this country of socialist minds like yours. You way is anti-Constitutional and against the plans of the Founders.

Is Medicare a government funded health insurance program or not? Yes or no?

Did he ask specifically "Do you have A, B, C, D"? No, he did not.

Again, is Medicare a government funded health plan for seniors?

I guess what you seem incapable of understanding the obvious, which others have seemed quite capable of understanding is this: They are protesting government run health care while raising their hands to using government run health care. Get it now? I know you are not being this dense, so this is obviously an attempt at trying to diffuse a very valid point that is made.

You might want to read up a bit on what UHC is by definition, what is being proposed through public option, and what is expected to be passed. Maybe I would not be so smug if people bothered to read and educate themselves outside of the partisan talking points. I am referring to this:
UHC your side wants would be 100% taxpayer subsidized, meaning that some would have to pay for the healthcare of all right?
I think you would probably be smug as well when dealing with an issue such as this and having to point out the errors time and time again, only to see people use the same damn talking point. It does get very tiring.

Let me tell you something, Einstein. Medicare is already the law and nothing is being done about it. We're trying to stop a new law that is even worse. So take your argument about is Medicare a govt program and stuff it where the sun don't shine. We already know that. You socialist think you're so smug.

Is Medicare a government funded health insurance program or not? Yes or no?

Did he ask specifically "Do you have A, B, C, D"? No, he did not.
Then he wasn't being honest. Again, what is the difference between medicare part A and medicare part B, and what is the requirement to get coverage from part C-?. Oh, and by the way, the question mark isn't because I don't know the extent of the private options, it's because I want you to pony up with something that tells me you know something....anything about what you are talking about, since you stopped at part D I will assume you don't know much. So again, what makes medicare different from what you want? I know the answer, medicare is partially contributory and has private options, so again, how is the representatives statement relevant?

Again, is Medicare a government funded health plan for seniors?
No No. You don't get to play this game, show me you have some functional knowledge of what you are talking about, the very simple answer is that medicare is C-O-N-T-R-I-B-U-T-O-R-Y, if you need help with that, it means you had to pay something for a period certain to get any benefits from it, medicare also has P-R-I-V-A-T-E O-P-T-I-O-N-S, that means that there are, when certain conditions are met.....now, pay attention.....it means that it is semi privatized. This is not the case with the UHC proposal. So again, what is the relevance of what the representative brought up?

I guess what you seem incapable of understanding the obvious, which others have seemed quite capable of understanding is this: They are protesting government run health care while raising their hands to using government run health care. Get it now? I know you are not being this dense, so this is obviously an attempt at trying to diffuse a very valid point that is made.
Yeah, they are using what they paid in to. What you are oblivious to, whether intentionally or you just ignorant to, is that the two systems are incompatible for the purposes of the discussion. Get it yet?

You might want to read up a bit on what UHC is by definition, what is being proposed through public option, and what is expected to be passed. Maybe I would not be so smug if people bothered to read and educate themselves outside of the partisan talking points. I am referring to this:
Dude, I am a Life/Health insurance agent, don't try this bull **** on me, I have forgotten more than you think you know on these topics.

I think you would probably be smug as well when dealing with an issue such as this and having to point out the errors time and time again, only to see people use the same damn talking point. It does get very tiring.
When you get it right, I'll let you know, so far you are doing nothing more than pushing an agenda and repeating a bunch of crap.

So asking if they have medicare is the same as asking if they want medicare?

The amount of dishonesty and lies you all are engaging in is shameful.
