Tories beat Labour in by-election

Yeah, I think I remember seeing that LDP's numbers had gone up more than the conservatives', but it seemed that even without the expense scandal David Cameron was going to walk into No. 10.

Im not so sure, Alot of people were predicting a hung parliament [where no party has an absolute majority of seats] untill recently. I think part of it was that some people were willing to turn a blind eye when labour did something wrong [because they kept the torries out of office] but the expenses scandal, among other things, was the last straw.

The next general election will be more a referedum on the last 12 years of Labour in some way rather than a vote for Conservative and i think Cameron is well aware of that.
He is also aware that Conservatives may get into power with no support from the North which is probably why he is so badly focusing on Scotland.
