A little wake up call to green shoots galore. Microsoft took a pretty big drop in revenue (17%), and there are many who are seeing huge tech losses in the coming week.

Microsoft posted a steeper-than-expected 17 percent drop in quarterly revenue and said its business continued to be hurt by the weak global PC and server markets, sending its shares tumbling.

Microsoft earned $3.045 billion, or 34 cents a share in its fiscal fourth quarter, on sales of $13.1 billion, compared with $4.297 billion, or 46 cents a share, on sales of $15.84 billion in the same period last year.

Eh, I expect their stock to surge upward in October, after the release of Windows 7. Which is just in time for "early" holiday shopping!

They didn't make as much as they did this time last year? Gosh, who'da thunk it?

Despite my general hatred of Microsoft, I will refrain from attacking them, only because of my even greater hatred for the analysts. The amount of companies who commit suicide by trying to meet quarterly expectations of analysts is just obscene. Corporate strategy should not be decided to meet the highly inaccurate guesses of unreliable "experts".

Why hate Microsoft?

It's a fortune tellers racket if you ask me.

Expecting one to blame it all on piracy in 3... 2.... 1.....

Analysts are in the now, and never think of the future.

Windows 7 will be a huge hit as it is a great piece of software from Microsoft. It has already out sold total windows Vista sales several times in pre order alone.
