Bin Laden Son Reported Killed In Pakistan

NPR.org, July 22, 2009 · U.S. officials believe Saad bin Laden — a son of Osama bin Laden — has been killed by an American missile in Pakistan.

Saad bin Laden reportedly spent years under house arrest in Iran before traveling last year to Pakistan, according to former National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell.

It's believed he was killed by Hellfire missiles fired from a U.S. Predator drone sometime this year.

A senior U.S. counterterrorism official tells NPR that without a body to conduct DNA tests on, it's hard to be completely sure. But he characterized U.S. spy agencies as being "80 to 85 percent" certain that Saad bin Laden is dead.

The U.S. counterterrorism official says Saad bin Laden wasn't important enough to target personally — that he was "in the wrong place at the wrong time."

He was active in al-Qaida, but was not a major player, the official said. He was believed to be in his late 20s.

"We make a big deal out of him because of his last name," the official added.

It's not known whether Saad bin Laden was anywhere near his father when he died.

Real shame he wasn't having a family reunion at the time the Hellfire stopped by for a visit.

Yeah, too bad.
Then we could all pick up our toys and go home.

You mean go back to ignoring al Qaeda like we did pre-9/11?

Wouldn't that mean we'd invite more attacks by only being on the defensive?

I hope they are carefully examining the region he was found, good odds he was near his father.

Gee, that means OBL is down to what, 75 or 80 sons?

That's true he has several scores of the little buggers who are supposedly his. After all he did have at least one legitimate wife, a few neo-wives, a parawive, an a concubine or two.

You're "Slightly Liberal"? If you really mean this, you've "grown"...

Congradulations Sam.;)

It was a Democrat who dropped the nukes on Japan. Get over it.

You're comparing F.D.R.,,,to B.O.? Come on Will,,,think. Apply a bit of reason alongside your rationale here.

Take care.

yeh and started helping the Brits before we got in WW II, and defended Korea and got us to fight in Vietnam. Let's not forget Andrew JACKSON who was the hero of 1812 and was instrumental in getting rid of NATIVE INDIANS in the Near West. So stop dumping on Democrats they like a good war once in a while also.

There are a lot of similarities between FDR and Bobo. Both big time liberals. Both destroyed and are destroying the country's economy for their own purpose. That purpose is to be President for life. Oh, yes, both had an ugly woman for a wife. However, in Eleanor's case she was a wonderful person and American. Michelle....not so much.

I beg to differ...F.D.R won a War, (even from his grave) while B.O. runs from the War. :sinking: It's obvious.

You'll "'see" it too. Eventually.

I think there is a difference between not running into a war and running from a war.

But I have to admit, I'm not sure what BO would do if it was put up or shut up.

I admire him for not being Bush, what with the John Wayne Cowboy and all. But I don't want him to be no Martin Luther King either.

Walking softly is cool. But BO needs to make me feel comfortable knowing that we still have the big stick. So far, he has not.

Huh? Running from what war? Afghanistan? Hello, he just increased troop levels and we currently engaged in the largest offensive since 2001. Iraq? Well that is a head scratcher, since the SOF agreement was signed by Bush.

Who cares?
He is not a major player in Al Qaeda

How about people go after BIN LADEN instead of patting themselves on the back for taking out the reject

F.D.R. did not drop the bombs. That guy was "Give Em Hell" Harry S. Truman. Lets give credit where credit is due.

His father died years ago, and lives with Elvis now.

Hmm. I was sure i'd see liberals in this thread lamenting about civillian deaths.... how odd I don't see it anymore. :ssst:
