The owner of this mall is a real asshole. So is the liberal bitch who wrote the letter asking that this guy's kiosk be removed from the mall. The best retaliation is for people to publicly protest and not to shop at that mall. Teach this Democrat a lesson for discriminating like this.

CONCORD, N.C. -- “Impeach Obama. “

“Al Qaeda’s favorite days: 9/11/01 and 11/04/08.”

“Work Harder. Obama needs the money.”

The bumper stickers and posters sold at “Free Market Warrior” at Concord Mills are meant to be “biting,” the kiosk’s owner Loren Spivack said.

At least one passer-by found them racist and bigoted, and took time to tell the mall in a letter and a letter to the editor of the Charlotte Observer.

I don't have a problem with this decision. The wording is offensive. I would say that even if it was written about George Bush. Sure, people can protest by not going to this mall. For me, this decision would force me to give some business to the mall. I wouldn't want to be shopping in a mall that condoned disgusting remarks about our president--Democrat or Republican.

While I don't agree with their decision, it is a privately owned mall and the owner has every right in the world to do what they want in this regard.

Some of those are over the top. I don't have a problem with the Impeach Obama because...well how many people were running around with Impeach Bush bumper stickers before. The Al Qaeda (you know they're terrorists because they don't have a "u" directly after the "q") one is a bit over the line though. But whatever, as already stated the mall is private and the owner is free to do as they wish.

I agree. I wouldn't have a problem with an "Impeach Obama" bumper sticker.

Okay, who's going to validate MC's complaint?

Somewhere, Spencer's Gifts executives are laughing their asses off.

Calling that message conservative insults the memory of authentic conservatism.

Tempted to order this off his website for my guest bathroom!

Free Market Warrior

so now the chicken hawk neocons are trying to ride the free market wave and pretend to care about conservatism. :spin:

I fully support this mall owners decision to close this business.

It's private property, and the mall is free to not allow any establishment it disagrees with.

HOWEVER, I think it's asinine and the chick that wrote that Letter to the Editor should get smacked by a bus.

I for one now have a new Christmas Shopping site however.

Freedom is a bitch, it is private property....

At least you're being honest about your beliefs now

"Free Market Warrior, a kiosk located adjacent to Bass Pro Shops, specializes in memorabilia embellished with pro-confederacy statements as well as those opposing both the government and President Obama. In addition, these products support ideas such as racisms, sexism, and even slavery.

Would bumper stickers calling the president a punk-ass be fine? Or insinuating they're a "crackhead" or a drug abuser? Calling the President a thief? How about just good old "****" the president. Calling him "evil"? Suggesting his birth was a "random mutation"? Comparing him to Molosovic? Claims that the a news outlet is "the voice of Satan"? Calling the President a Criminal? Ones implying the War on Terror is terrosism? How about calling for "regime change" outside of election season? How about claiming the President is a "War Criminal"? What about propping up trumped up conspiracy BS like the AWOL story (for reference, would a bumper stick about "Kenyan in Chief" be too far?)?

What exactly is pushing it too far that it becomes distasteful...because all those things above are easily found on websites, kiosks, and other such things all over the place now and the past 8 years.

First, I applaud Mc.No.Spin. He's not beng outraged at this mall and saying they shouldn't be able to do this or anything of the sort...he's saying people should respond to this private businesses choice through their own choices.

Second, if at any point (or currently) the mall allowed Kiosks or Spensers or such things that had derogatory bumper stickers, shirts, pins, etc about George Bush or Dick Cheney but stopped this one then I'd be completely and fully for the boycott. If you don't want insulting political items sold in your mall...so be it. If you don't want insulting political items targetting your guy sold in your mall...then I will take my money elsewhere.

The mall definitely should be free to make this choice. And people definitely should send their own message, both in standard communication and with their wallets, that they won't stand for double standards on political speech.

It is a lie to suggest I have ever been dishonest. Please refrain from attacking my integrity... Thank you.

The Good Reverend always sides on the side of freedom. You should try it sometime.

If that turns out to be the case, the operator of this kiosk has grounds for a nice little discrimination lawsuit.

Yep, this store has the right to ban stuff it doesn't like, and people have the right to protest or support this store for what they do.

1) No he doesn't. The question goes to standards, and whether the kiosk violated them.

2) However, the people DO have grounds for not shopping there. THIS is where the battle should be fought. Spread the word - Do not shop at this mall. The owner of the mall can then decide how much his standards are actually worth.

That's all that needs saying.

People that don't like it, don't have to shop there.

Why would, why should people protest such intellectualy retarded statements as were being presented on these bumper stickers? I mean really the comments on these stickers were shallow devoid of any depth.

It would be quite the thing if the people could be civil and respectful.
But I see so little of this...
And the truth...never..
Why was the kiosk not allowed, exactly why ???
And this "private property" - the owners can do whatever they wish....this does not cut it...

Actually, it does cut it. This is a property rights issue ..nothing more.

Responses to your points, in no perticular order:

Thought I would point out that from the sound of things, the kiosk owner was not very civil or respectful.

As to the legality of the mall owner(s) telling him to leave, as far as I am aware, that's perfectly legal, and if it isn't, it should be. Private property is private, after all.

The circumstances, of course, will be the main factor in any given person's response. If you dislike Obama, then you probably will be more likely to sympathize with the kiosk guy. If the reverse, well...the reverse.

As to why the kiosk was removed? Because the mall owner decided to have it removed.

I think that I will go out of my way to shop at that mall when I am in town! :)

Don't forget to buy yourself a "Religious Right - the American Taliban" or "George Bush: War Criminal" bumper sticker!
