Teen pregnancy and disease rates rose sharply during Bush years, agency finds

Slow down teen pregnancies by teaching money management to teenagers? Good luck with that.

NO. Show them disgusting pictures of STDs on penises and vaginas, and terrify them into abstinence. Or, if not abstinence, at least wearing a condom. That totally works.

And I have to disagree with you, Chuck. Americans are more uptight, and I believe it's one of the reason kids look for nudity and suck each other off in basements.

I think it is probably because US is more religious than Canada or many other western nations which may explain why they are more uptight

What do you expect? The Bush doctrine was all about abstinence as the only acceptable method of preventing sexually transmitted disease and pregnancy.

No wonder there was an increase in teen pregnancy and disease.

Where did I say you claimed such?

You said it right here.

That might work on the girls, but we'll forget all about that when the blood starts flowing down hill.

For the guys, show them a pay stub with a child support garnishment.

Nope, try again. That's not what that says.

Then, what does it say? You referred to me as a Liberal, so maybe it's you that's confused?

Hah, that is what was shown in my sex ed. classes. Worked like a charm, i was traumatised tho.

My teacher bought in real babies with the parents and was like, do you want to look after that at the age of 15

Oh and we had a video of childbirth :2sick1:

Agreed this could play a part. But it has been happening for a long time. The tred was going down, and now it's gone up sharply.

Whay are you so certain it was not Bush's policies??? How can you be that positive?

Well, if you want to blame a president, maybe all those extra-curricular activities Bill Clinton did in the oval office had an influence. If the president can get a bj while performing his job, I guess it's OK. There's been a disturbing new "game" among middle schoolers as of late. It's called Rings (or something). Each girl wears a different color lip gloss and goes down on a boy. The boy with the most rings wins. The kids say that BJs aren't really sex. Where did they hear that? I'm loathe to find the person who can participate in oral sex and not end up going all the way. Play with fire and all that.

I want to know who these uptight Americans are that speak for the entire nation? Mormons? I know they're the ones getting all the flack now. What are their rates of teen pregnancies and stds? Probably a lot lower than national average.

I can;t help but think about those high shool girls in Gloucester MA last year who made a game of seeing who could get PG. It was an epidemic. Gloucester is not a conservative town. I doubt anyone was teaching abstinence in those schools. MA is traditionally very liberal. If we're going to blame politics, let's be honest.

You stopped following the topic of the thread when you went off about condoms.

My comment was meant to direct you back on topic, not accuse you of anything.

I was just waiting for another opportunity to say this:

It's all Bush's fault!

That felt good! :2razz:

Are you sure it wasn't because Bill Clinton was out of office and had nothing better to do?

No? Too much? Not far enough?

No video of an abortion?

My original post was in response that education and birth control only, without abstinence, are the alpha and omega for the prevention of teen pregnancy. The point being, that if you teach teens how to have sex and use birth control more teens are going to **** and more teens are going to get pregnant and it shouldn't come as a shock and it certainly isn't Bush's fault.

That might change opinions on abortion. The Liberals can't have that.

I doubt a video of a doctor can change someones mind
Besides, even if a mind is changed. It doesn't matter, not like it will overturn abortion laws

Ahhh, they are going to have sex no matter what you do. You don't have to "teach them how". Honest.

Granted, but don't get all shocked and shaken, when teen pregnancies go up after you've tought them how to have sex and use birth control.

Has anyone else seen the show "16 and pregnant"?

I actually like it. I think it shows the reality of teenage pregnancy pretty well.

Middleground tells you she's not blaming Bush--she's noting that teen pregnancy and disease increased sharply during Bush's presidency, yet you still say, "Well, if you want to blame a president . . ." Can you tell me again where she BLAMED Bush? You can provide incredibly rational posts, StandUp, but then you can provide these ridiculous partisan posts. It's disappointing to see an intelligent person acting like a child. Really.

You want to blame Bush? Well, I blame Clinton for blow jobs and Democrats for the pregnancy issue in Glouster, Massachusetts. (This is you throwing a trantrum over an inaccurate inference you made of Middleground's post.) If the shoe fits.......

Yeah I've seen it. And 9 times out of 10 I get so ****ing angry that I have to stop watching because of the way that the guys are.

I thought that was the show with all those kids that one lady and her iron uterus had popped out.

Who needs to be taught how to use a condom? Put it on like a sock, plug your nose, and it's done.
