Poll: Public losing trust in President Obama

Poll: Public losing trust in President Obama - Andy Barr - POLITICO.com

Trust in President Barack Obama and his Democratic allies to identify the right solutions to problems facing the country has dropped off significantly since March, according to a new Public Strategies Inc./POLITICO poll.

Just as Obama intensifies his efforts to fulfill a campaign promise and reach an agreement with Congress on health care reform, the number of Americans who say they trust the president has fallen from 66 percent to 54 percent. At the same time, the percentage of those who say they do not trust the president has jumped from 31 to 42.

The president’s party has taken a similar hit since the last Public Trust Monitor poll, with only 42 percent of respondents saying that they trust the Democratic Party, compared with 52 percent who do not. The party’s numbers are nearly the inverse of March’s survey, in which 52 percent said they trusted Democrats and 42 percent did not.

Obama’s personal approval rating has fallen below 60 percent in a number of recent major polls, and according to a Washington Post/ABC News survey out Monday, support for the president’s leadership on several key issues has fallen below 50 percent.

Well well well. It seems that the honeymoon is over, and as people realize the emporer indeed has no clothes that its time to hold this man to his promises and actions. I for one am glad to see this empty suit's return to earth. The mod love mentality for him mad this American cringe at some of his countrymen....

That said, any of you obama supporters losing faith?

I'm not losing faith even though I DON'T think he's doing a great job. I can't even decide how I feel about this health reform stuff.

Maybe all the stupid people that voted for BO are waking up. It's about time. How long can anyone's head remain inserted up one's rear end for so long without taking a breath?

I hope BO fails miserably, along with all leftists for that matter.

Are you Rush L.?

Because clearly, everyone who is against Obama's policies is Rush Limbaugh.

It's not the being against, but the hope that the President will fail. If he fails, then one is essentially hoping for bad times in America.

Thank you for quoting DamnYankee. It has reminded me why I put him on ignore. His words add nothing to this message board.

No. It's because only immature, nonthinking people like Rush Limbaugh use childish terms/vulgar images to express disagreement with Obama.

He's been in power, what, seven months? You shouldn't judge a whole book on its first chapter. He may turn out to be a bad president but I'd hardly say he's done a bad job so far. He's done quite a lot considering his timeframe.

The hype is wearing off, in record time, too.

Anytime Chapter 1 is poorly written, it's doubtful that the rest of the book is going to get any better.

But you wanted us to vote for Sarah Palin??

I'm certainly not impressed with his performance thus far. Though, I do feel it is early to judge him as a President overall considering that he has been President less than a year. Though, hopefully this will be a bit of a reality check to the people out there who think he's God's gift. I'm not saying all Obama supporters are like this, but there were a fair amount who were.

Actually, most of us on the right hope Obama's Socialist Agenda fails and the damage he is doing can be reversed.

This is all a bit of the old idealogical spread here. Some of us on DP Think Government taking over everything and running the way we live is the only hope for the future. Some have no clue either way on the issues and some of us hope Obama fails miserably in turning America into a bastion of cradle to grave government.

It's all in what you believe is best for America. Socialist control or Freedom and Liberty.

I'm all for Freedom and Liberty.

I'm all for Freedom and Liberty.

Yeah riiiight! That's why you salivated and drooled over every power grab of GWB's and why you so heartily support the right-wings big brother social agenda:doh

This just in: Obama really is just a typical politician!

Pffft, I knew this from the start, I said it from the start. Chicago politician and nothing more. Hope and change....bwaahahahaha. I'm surprised people actually fell for that.

I respect that you haven't lost faith but don't like what he's doing and aren't sure about the healhcare stuff. That's fair.

But you can't call Rush non-thinking, whether you like him or not. You can't consider Pelosi, Boxer, or Reid a thinking person and dismiss Rush. C'mon.

Truly sad. Challenger candidates have been running on "hope and change" since about 1812, but yet it still works on the mindless.

If Obama succeeds in getting cap and tax and socialized healthcare through, bad times in America are certain.

His failure in getting his policies through is the only hope America has.

I wouldn't say they are mindless, just idealists who refuse to face reality and choose instead to live in fantasy land.

Personally I think the conservatives play up the hype of "god's gift" more then Democrats. I don't see those that support Obama referring to him in any messianic way and simply just agree with policies. Since when has agreeing with a political leaders policies equate to worship?

I'm positive that bad times are on the horizon and maybe it will be a good lesson for us. I don't think that America is doomed, though. We are far stronger than I think we give ourselves credit for.

I do not get all this socialist rhetoric. The only legislaton that I have opposed so far is the Cap and Trade. Other than that, I see no sign of full socialism. I think this talk is hyperpartisan lunacy. No one accused G.W. Bush of attempting a right-wing, executive coup to become dictator when he grabbed as much power for the executive as possible.
