Gov. Jan Brewer on Monday signed into law tight new restrictions on access to abortion in Arizona, imposing a 24-hour waiting period on women seeking the procedure and requiring that minors first receive written, notarized consent from a parent or guardian.

The Republican governor also expanded the rights of gun owners by allowing those with a concealed-carry permit to take their firearms into establishments that serve alcohol, but she cited wildfire concerns in rejecting a proposal that would have legalized the sale of small fireworks in the state.

Seriously?

The party of liberty / freedom, and all they ****ing worry about is imposing their moral beliefs on society? Jesus ****ing christ. The repukes wonder why everyone hated them this last election cycle. blah.

This also gives doctors / pharmacists the right to deny you treatment / plan b (cause plan b is abortion)... alsdfkjasldfkjasdflkjasdflkjasdlfj ****ing idiot ass conservatives.

CCW in bars / restaurants is a great thing, hopefully now we'll not have anymore mass murders like in lubbock or liddy I can't remember Texas where a gunman went into a Luby's and opened fire. Keeping in mind that CCWers can't drink.. and well.. they have to have a legal CCW.. in the state.

Why would go to a bar if you can't drink? People will carry, drink, and shooting deaths will go up over drunken disputes. Restaurants are one thing, but having them in bars is stupid.

Minors have limited rights to begin with. I have no problem with the parents being involved.

What is the problem with a 24 hour waiting period? It seems to be OK to put waiting periods on gun purchases, but not abortions?

This sounds just like the people who cried that gun fights in the streets would erupt because of conceal carry.

No evidence exist to support your claim.

Let's see, gun fights in the street from concealed carry is about as ignorant as allowing people to get ****faced drunk and pack a weapon around. You go sit in the bar with them.

Let me clarify, it is common ****ing sense. I would never had thought that concealed carry would have caused any problems, but in a bar? You must be kidding.

I quite often go out with friends to bars and don't drink.. I'm the designated driver, and I have my ccw.

what's your point?

I have major problems with 24 hour wait periods on gun purchases as well. I'm a vocal supporter of small government, and this isn't small government... like the repukes like to claim they're for.

The same people who claimed that when AZ switched to a shall-issue CCW state.. that said it'd be the OK Corral and blood would flow in the streets... and our police officers would be dying left and right... Still hasn't happened..

Show us statistics where CCW'ers in 34 other states are committing violent crimes in their states bars where liquor is... or in their resturants?

Until then, you're just talking out of your emotional little ass. btw, it's illegal for them to conceal carry in a bar and drink.... Nice try though.

It would be funny to see all those who think there should waiting periods on firearms piss and moan about waiting period on abortions. If something that is actually a right have waiting periods imposed on it then something that is not a right and nowhere in the constitution defined as a right can have waiting periods imposed on it too.

I have a CCW, but whether Texas would ever make it legal inside bars or not, I will still leave my gun in my glove box. You should never take a gun into a bar under any circumstance. You are only asking for trouble. Convenience stores are another story. They sell alcohol, but nobody is supposed to drink on premises. That is against the law, so IMHO, not being able to carry inside a convenience store is a dumb law.

Let's see, 2 issues at hand... gun rights, and rights of the fetus. What the hell do either of them have to do with "imposing moral beliefs on society"?

Jesus ****ing christ. The repukes wonder why everyone hated them this last election cycle. blah.

"repukes"? Come on, be creative here.

Translation: UGGGGGG! I HATE CONSERVATIVES SOOOO MUCH!!!1!

Jesus, you disagree with some people, get over it. It's not the end of the world if some people hold views you don't like.

So, you believe that CCW holders are irresponsible?

Seriously? I disagree with people every day... That's perfectly fine... up until they encroach on our rights as an american citizen... Libs for their bull**** gun control, and repukes for their bull**** morality complexes they try and enforce on society.

Both are ****ing retarded, and both can't get the idea that more government isn't the solution. If you can't get that is what I'm getting at.. then you're lost.

It's 24 hours with permission, not the end of the world.

If pro-choice is going to cry like this over such a small regulation then we obviously can't deal with them on real issues.

Except you're a libertarian, so you think that ANYONE who disagrees with you is anti-rights.

Libs for their bull**** gun control, and repukes for their bull**** morality complexes they try and enforce on society.

Morality complexes? You're for freedom, right? Well hey, that's... a moral position! How dare you want to impose your moral beliefs on everyone else!

Both are ****ing retarded, and both can't get the idea that more government isn't the solution. If you can't get that is what I'm getting at.. then you're lost.

If I disagree with you I'm lost. Got it. So who died and made you God?

This does not change the fact that no evidence exist to support your claim.

At this point it is no more than over the top speculation.

If you honestly believe that only DD's will carry guns into bars then you are naive.

Even bar owners do not want such a bill.
AZ May Allow Concealed Carry In Bars - WBAL Radio - wbal.com

The bill gives bars discretion to keep gun-toting patrons out, and anyone with a weapon would not be allowed to drink. But the bill has angered bar owners who believe booze and guns are a recipe for disaster.

"This might be one of the stupidest things that I have heard of," said Mike Nelson, who owns Pomeroy's bar in Phoenix and plans to post a sign on his front door outlawing guns in his bar as soon as possible. "Can you think of a single reason guns and alcohol should be intertwined?"

What will it take for common sense to prevail? I am not against gun control or bans, but I do not think guns and alcohol should be mixed. Most of these bills allowing the carry into bars are new, so no statistics exist yet. But I can see by your responses that people will ACTUALLY have to die before you will say, "maybe that was a bad idea." We should allow nuclear scientists to drink at work as well, why not!?!

Give them an inch, they'll take a mile. That's how it is with our government regardless of their leadership orientation.

They've proven this time and time again.. with conservatives in the office, and with liberals in the office.

Except you're a libertarian, so you think that ANYONE who disagrees with you is anti-rights.

Would I be wrong? I'm for constitutional rights, period. If you seek to impose limits, or waits, or restrictions upon constitutional rights.. you are in fact encroaching on our freedoms, are you not?

Lets try gay marriage, abortion... oh, and lets stick in hate crime legislation for the liberals.. we all know how you whiny conservatives are with "well they did this and that!"... They all encroach on our freedoms for their agenda... For the conservatives they're always trying to force their morals upon society... for the liberals their always trying to force their "fair" attitude upon society. Neither party is good... plain and simple.

You can disagree with me all you want until you start trying to take away my or fellow citizens rights. Hell I'll even stand up for your right to disagree with me... until you take action to infringe upon my rights.

It is illegal to get drunk and drive, but people do it all the time.:doh
Well if 'they're going to do it anyway', may as well teach them how to be safe, right?

Lawless people carry guns into bars. So why shouldn't we let law abiding citizens do it?

I do agree that the bar owner has the right on his property to say no CC, but that is a completely different issue.

It is one thing for it to be done illegally and another for it to be condoned. It is never a good mix and is irresponsible. I own several guns, but you can bet your ass I am not going to allow my friends to come over and drink some beers and get them out.

What's your point? They believe that CCW'ers are irresponsible and will drink... or they don't know wtf they're talking about and are ASSUMING that it's legal for them to drink.

It's still illegal to get drunk while carrying :doh

I'd support DUI like punishments for those that do drink while CCW'ing in these establishments. Drinking + guns == Reckless, which is about the same as drinking + driving.

What will it take for common sense to prevail? I am not against gun control or bans, but I do not think guns and alcohol should be mixed. So, you're all for the people who currently carry guns into bars illegally? How many people have to die in bar shootings before you realize that cause something is illegal doesn't mean that criminals won't do it?

That's called the head up my ass if I ignore it long enough it won't be true mentality.

It is illegal to get drunk and drive, but people do it all the time.:doh

And they're regularly punished for it. The same should happen for CCW holders who drink while in these establishments.

#1 It is already illegal in most carry states to get drunk and carry.
#2 Criminals do not obey the law and carry guns into bars. So why should law abiding citizens be barred?
#3 People being killed in bars has been going on for years. Now the good guys can fight back.

Well if 'they're going to do it anyway', may as well teach them how to be safe, right?

Yeah, I guess.:doh My main problem is, that if this blows-up and people begin getting killed, it is going to have a backlash on regular gun owners like myself. And rather than reducing legislation, there will be more. This is dumb.

Why would you expect your friends to come over, drink and pull guns out? This says more about the company you keep than any law.
