Palin says she's not leaving politics

Yes, by all means, that's what you should do. Cast aspersions on a woman with a 30-year-track record of effective representation of her voters in favor of Sarah Palin.

That's how elections are won, after all.

Snowe is a hawk and a fiscal conservative. Is that insufficient for you?

Snowe voted for gun control and against tax cuts. She also supports the Stealfromus bill.

Conservative my butt!

No, it's because she's actually DONE A FREAKING JOB FOR LONGER THAN 3 YEARS. She knows something about the world. She's a credible person.

Is stupidity actually rewarded in the Republican party these days?

I don't know many republicans that support Olympia Snowe. She's been elected in a very liberal state. A state that isn't liberal because it's avante guard. Maine is liberal because it's uneducated north of Portland.

Aren't as intelligent to pretend they're something they're not? That doesn't make them intelligent. It makes them phonies.

There is a reason why the Republican party used to be known as the "big tent." There was a place for people along a range of conservative interests.

What issues do you now believe should be held up as the litmus test for "real" (tm) REpublicans?

Abortion? Gay Rights?

A woman who is a hawkish fiscal conservative IS in fact conservative. It could be argued that her positions on abortion and gay marriage are in fact libertarian (keeping government out of the people's personal lives).

Do you remember when conservative meant "supporter of small government and u.S. interests around the world"?

Snowe is the only person I listed whose conservative credentials can even be called into question, so of course, that's where y'all are going to focus.

I'm focusing on Snowe because she's my senator, and she sucks.

She voted against the tax cuts of 2003 because they were fiscally irresponsible. I wish more had, we wouldn't be in this situation of terrible overwelming federal debt.

Cutting taxes in the middle of a war is perhaps the most irresponsible act I can think of.

I wonder how many GOP types realize Palin would have no shot beating Obama. You might as well just swear him in now and be done with it.

With the economy in the state it is, Tancredo might actually be sellable.

I'm guessing that by 2012 the economy will actually play right into Obama's hands. It will have recovered by then, leading to a Reagan circa 1984 campaign. Like Jimmy Carter before him, W will be the gift that keeps giving for the other side.

Snowe's political views are worse than Palin's.

Not to me. But then, I'm another one who isn't a real conservative. And, you're right. The problem is that conservatives have NEVER been able to win an election without moderate voters. You need me, and people like me, far more than we need you.

Rasmussen Reports: The Most Comprehensive Public Opinion Data Anywhere

In June, 38.9% of American adults considered themselves Democrats. That’s down half-a-point from last month.

As for the GOP, 32.2% now claim an affiliation with the party. That’s down four-tenths-of-a-point from a month ago.

The number of unaffiliated adults grew from 28.0% to 28.9%.

Over the past four months, the partisan alignments have all stayed with a range of a single percentage point or less.

The number of Democrats has stayed between 38.7% and 39.4%. The number of Republicans has stayed between 32.2% and 33.2%. As for unaffiliateds, they have ranged from 28.0% to 28.9%.

...While Democrats now enjoy a 6.7-percentage-point edge over Republicans, they averaged a seven-point advantage during the first three months of 2009.

The partisan identification numbers shift little from month-to-month, but they document just how dramatically the political environment has changed over the past four years. In January 2005, as President Bush was inaugurated for his second term in office, the Democrats enjoyed just a one-percentage-point advantage over the GOP.

Folks like me, who aren't just fair weather patriots, are the backbone of this country. Don't fool yourself into thinking otherwise.

You cannot be referring to Olympia votes for both porkulous packages Snowe as a fiscal conservative. Do you know how Senator Snowe sold that last stimulous to the people of Maine? Portland will get a new walking trail. Portland has enough walking trails. Women won't walk them alone because of the perverts who expose themselves in the trails. Just how many jobs will a new walking trail in Portland create? There are so many depressed areas in the state of Maine right now, and Portland needs a new walking trail? It's stupid.

Right now the state is in severe trouble. With a freakishly cold and rainy summer, tourism is so low that inn keepers and cottage owners are in the red. Real Estate in this region still plummets and with the sickening new appraisal and mortgage regulations enacted May 1, we are screwed. Inventory that was just starting to move is halted. You cannot sell a $300K house in southern maine right now because of the new regs. Expect more foreclosures on the horizon. What will Olympia Snowe do about that? Oh yeah, we'll get that new walking trail in Portland.

Nice use of prejudicial language. I work in a criminal justice field and have been willing to risk my life to protect the people of my community. You equate the Republican party with patriotism. I equate actual SERVICE to my country with patriotism.

My boyfriend spent a year in Iraq and votes almost identitically to me.

But we aren't real patriots, right?

This is exactly how the Republican party will eliminate its own viability.

That's great. I feel your frustrations. It's a shame you don't have an oil pipeline to bail your state out.

But, are you there when all the cards are stacked agin you? From your opinion on Palin, I would guess...uh, no.

And both parties are losing people to the Independent category like Moses leaving Egypt, too. So, let's don't try to trick anyone into believing that Republicans are suddenly converting into Democrats.

Have you been there when an armed felon points a gun at you? YOu don't even know what it means to have the cards stacked against you. My boyfriend formed his view of the war in Iraq ON THE GROUND IN TIKRIT. He put his ass where his mouth was every single day he was there. Did you do that?

Your words are meaningless talk. I would happily support Palin if she were a worthy candidate, but she has done nothing to earn my vote.

I am a moderate. I am not a religious conservative. I'm a FISCAL conservative. I am politically active and vote for fiscal conservatives, FROM BOTH PARTIES. I am not a Republican stalwart, though I am conservative in many regards.

In my opinion, the Republican party has lost its soul and is losing, rapidly, voters like me.

Yes. But, I bet it still doesn't mean **** to you.

With this, I agree wholeheartedly. I think the GOP sold out its roots when it was taken over by the religious-right and has thus abandoned actual conservatism. I'm not so sure that Palin is of that conservative cloth either. All we really have to judge that on in are her activities as governor which didn't even last a full term before she quit. I would rather the GOP look elsewhere, there's conservatives out there with less baggage who could probably do just as good, if not better, job as Palin. Instead of focusing on this wishywashy candidate, I think effort would best be spent looking for a candidate who could truly bring back all the lost Republican voters by returning to actual conservative politics.

she also said she would support Democrats, I tend to think they will NOT welcome her assistance

That's a pretty funny comment, considering pretty much every demographic study shows that the less educated you are....the more likely you are to vote Republican and consider your idealogy to be conservative to moderate.

Um, you better go back and check those stats...:rofl

That's why no one takes Libbos seriously.
