You read it right. A Japanese company is making tires that are not made from ANY petroleum product. The tires are composed of 20% rubber from rubber plants and 80% rubber from the oil in orange peels. Not only do these tires help to wean nations off of oil by their mere composition, but gas mileage is also slightly improved due to a 20% reduction in rolling resistance, which also helps to reduce oil dependency.
