Defense Chief Giving Don't Ask Don't Tell a Closer Look

I know it sounds like a huge leap for you, to provide supporting docs for you comments, but I don't have a problem fulfilling your request.

From the actual letter, which is all retired flag officers(that is an important fact):

have adverse effects on the willingness of parents who lend their sons and daughters to military service, and eventually break the All-Volunteer Force.

This is hilarious.

By the way, I linked earlier a source on an actual study of the impact of gays in the military, and they have found no evidence for any of the complaints of these retired officers, who seem to belong to a conservative political veterans group.

RETIRED? Seriously?

Many of my Drill Sergeants that are retired now and when I was in would say black people shouldn't have been allowed in the military.

You're retired.

These men aren't semi-literate E-6's. They didn't retire, as generals and flag officers, because they're stupid. I would say their opinions probably carry a good deal of wait with the current Joint Chiefs and Department of Defense.

Way to prove yourself to be incapable of rational debate.

Now they're bitching we have too many in there. Disproportionate representation.

Who is? Most black people I know consider the military a great option for black people to advance themselves.

The Al Sharpton types.

Yeah, there is a school of thought among blacks and Leftist whites that says the military targets disadvantaged youth, especially minorities, claiming that they are being used as connon fodder.

So, does that mean that the link you provided, that included only 100 retired officers is garbage? And, you say I'm incapable of irrational debate???

Your link, sir: Admirals, generals: Let gays serve openly - Military- msnbc.com

I said that being retired is an important fact, not that it made their opinion garbage. You neglected to mention the retired fact when you first mentioned it.

It could have something to do with one thousand, one hundred flag and general officers signing a letter supporting a ban on gays in the military. Kinda hard for a CIC to go up against 1,100 general officers.

Note the lack of mention of retired in that post? It's an important detail to include so people know what you are talking about.

I think you would find that is a pretty fringe element school of thought.

Because I didn't know most of them were retired.

I think you're just trying to make something out of nothing.

I disagree. I believe that it's a fairly mainstream mindset within the black and Leftist communities.

hmm. e-6's are semi literate?

That's odd, I found myself as smart, or often much smarter than most of the officers around me.

All, plus alotta retired general officers.

The letter:

Flag & General Officers for the Military

PDF link to all the officers that signed the letter:

If you need anything else, don't hesitate to ask.

How many flag and general officers are there?

If there are 1200, then 1050 signatures is pretty significant.

If there are 20000, then 1050 signatures doesn't really mean much.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

It is retired flag officers, so the number will be quite large.
