In a huge victory for the Obama Administration:

House narrowly passes major energy-climate bill - Yahoo! News

the Democratic-controlled House narrowly passed sweeping legislation Friday that calls for the nation's first limits on pollution linked to global warming and aims to usher in a new era of cleaner, yet more costly energy.

The vote was 219-212, capping months of negotiations and days of intense bargaining among Democrats. Republicans were overwhelmingly against the measure

Again...drawing a line in the sand, the Republicans show where they stand on the environment....as do the Democrats.

Americans have a clear picture of which party they should vote for in the next election depending upon how they feel about the environment.

Perfect thing to do while we're still struggling economically. (/irony).

Is this the "cap and trade" bill? If so, we are SO screwed.

While I don't know the specifics of this bill, given my personal opinions on related matters, I probably would have not supported it.

If you "substantially renovate" your home then you have to upgrade it and all appliances to"international enrgy standards. I believe my home just dropped invalue by about $100,000. Yours too. :)

Yes it is and yes we are.

Really? I don't see that in what I read so far.

Break out a nice, cool, soothing cream and apply it to the hole that hurts the most.

I did not see this referred to in the linked article. Got a source?

Its nice to once again have a President that isn't afraid of Science.

The rest of the world was passing us by due to the lack of efforts of the prior administration in advancing alternative energy. Even China is exporting more solar energy than we are right now. This bill is a step in the right direction.

HR 2454 read the bill. This is in the 300 pages added at 3am this morning. Gov't will decide where to plant your trees, but don;t do it yourself. It must be done by a certified non-profit tree planting organization .(ACORN?)

No, they know which party to vote for if they believe in a good quality standard of living and which party to vote for if they suffer from guilt and having a good quality of life.

And hopefully the American people know what is over the top partisan rhetoric.

Neither do any of the House members that voted on it.

Then it looks like no one will be voting in next election.....

Too bad it's crappy science. If solar energy was all that, the entreprenuirs in America would have been marketing the hell out of it. But, since it doesn't sell, it's not happening. China is one of the biggest polluters. Why are they exporting solar energy instead of saving all that money they are spending on oil????

And a major ass raping for all Americans.

Correct. The Republicans, as well as 44 Democrats, showed they do not vote for 1200 page job killing bills they haven't read.

Americans have a clear picture of which party they should vote for in the next election depending upon how they feel about the environment.

We do. Don't worry.

Good. A president and a congress that finally care about the environment. Now, on to getting that public option for health care passed. Things are looking up!

So, how many jobs is this bill going to kill? All the other bills have killed jobs, so this one will ceratinly be no different...probably worser.

Can't pay for all that garbage is no one is working. The Libbos are all about raising taxes to pay for the deadbeats in the country, but don't understand that if you put the working class out of work, then there won't be any income to tax. Ya just can't tax health bennies on a person that doesn't have a job.

When this passed in Spain, they lost 2.2 jobs for every green job that was created. It devastated their economy. Their unemployment rate is over 18%.
