What does being a drug addict have to do with anything - especially in this day and age?
Check out this partial list of celebrity drug deaths...
Chet Baker, John Belushi, Bam Bam Bigelow, Lenny Bruce, Paul Butterfield, John Entwistle, Howie Epstein, Chris Farley, Mitch Hedberg, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Heath Ledger, Frankie Lymon, Marilyn Monroe, Robert Pastorelli, River Phoenix, Darryl Porter, Elvis Presley, Dee Dee Ramone, David Ruffin, Anna Nicole Smith, Sid Vicious, and Dinah Washington, among many, many more.
I listen to my XM Radio, and when they play "Hey Good Lookin'" by Hank Williams I don't think about how he died, I think what a great song it is. And, if any thoughts come to me beyond that, they're probably about what a shame it was that he died so young, not about his turbulent personal life.
Michael Jackson had his problems, as did most of the people listed above. I don't deify any of them, I just forgive them for their faults and try to enjoy the memories.
